[Newer: Ron Paul on HR 1207] [Older: C4L on Cavuto]

This coming Tuesday, April 28th, C4L will be holding its second official Mass Action Day by doing a "National Petition Push" in support of HR 1207!

Cosponsors are pouring onto the bill faster than the Library of Congress' site can keep up (We're up to 92 now, but the listing won't show until early next week.), and, with Jesse's visits to over 50 Capitol Hill offices this week garnering very positive results, now is the perfect time to make our voices heard!

Our VA national office is flooded with over 40,000 of your petitions, and next week we're taking them where they belong - to congressional offices all over the Hill.

Members of C4L's national staff will be joined by volunteers from all over the DC area to deliver these petitions.  If you're in the DC area and are interested in joining us on Tuesday, contact Allison Gibbs for more information.

But why hog all the fun??  We're asking Campaign for Liberty members all across America to join our Petition Push and drop your gathered petitions off at your representative's district offices this Tuesday.

Our state coordinators are busy planning for this Action Day, so be sure to contact your state coor. and let them know you plan to participate.  Keep an eye on our Recent Member Posts section today, as many of them have already blogged about their plans for Tuesday.

Also, you can take advantage of this weekend to gather even more signatures.  We've prepared a new streamlined petition to help you introduce the Audit idea to those who are unfamiliar with the Fed or the other issues involved.

Curious to see if your rep has cosponsored yet?  Click here to find out, and be sure to send along an email either urging them to cosponsor if they haven't or thanking them for their stand if they have.  This is a great way to get involved with Tuesday's "Push" even if you can't make it to their offices.

And don't worry about having to scramble before Tuesday to participate - we'll be doing more of these in the coming months.  Many of you have already gathered lots of petitions, so now is a good time to take them to the offices.

For state coordinator contact info and representative's district office addresses, visit your state page.

Make plans now to participate on Tuesday, even if you only have time to drop off a petition or two on your way to or from work.  And be sure to take lots of pictures and videos of your participation!  Let's make our voices heard and continue this great momentum we've built.  Like Jesse wrote yesterday, we can win.  More than just a philosophical exercise, this is a battle we can take all the way to the House floor... and beyond.

Update: Thanks to Steven Vincent for the link to End the Fed's "Melt the Switchboard" Event in support of HR 1207 scheduled for Monday!  Call on Monday, show up on Tuesday!

WONDERFUL NEWS FROM OH CD-14

I have visited my Congressman's office, passed out hundreds of Audit the Fed flyers, and have educated everyone I come in contact with about this bill. After much work by many, here is the news from the legislative assistant to Mr. LaTourette -

Hey Tim... I hope all is well. Just wanted to let you know that we have
decided to cosponsor the bill. Thanks and have a good weekend.

Representative LaTourette,

I would like you to reconsider cosponsoring HR 1207, the Federal Reserve
Transparency Act of 2009, which will allow the United States to audit
the Federal Reserve Bank for the first time in our nation's history.

In the face of an ever-worsening recession, the Federal Reserve is
refusing to furnish Congress and the American people with records of how
the Bank is allotting and spending trillions of bailout dollars.
Shrouded in secrecy, the Federal Reserve is a danger to our political
process: No one knows where our money is going or what it is doing, and
Chairman Bernanke has said that efforts to disclose such information are
"counterproductive."

Mr. CJ Lennon, your Legislative Aide, informed me that you only consider
this bill if it reaches the floor. May I urge you to reconsider and
co-sponsor this along with the 91 other Congressman that have done so.

This bill is vital to solving our financial crisis. Thank you for your
help, and I ask you to do everything in your power to see this bill
through to a passing vote on the House floor.

In liberty,

Tim Gandee

Peaceful political pressure works wonders. The battle has only begun. Freedom is indeed popular and I thank Dr. Paul for curing my political apathy back during his primary run. If it were not for him, I would still be spending money like a drunken sailor and assuming Washington would take care of problems as they come about.

You can download a multi-line petition here:

http://www.mnc4l.org/hr1207/hr1207_petition.pdf
http://www.mnc4l.org/h r1207/hr1207_petition.doc

10 signatures per page

The PDF is two pages long so if you have a printer that can print both sides, you can set it to print page one on the front and page two on the back.

Shouldn't we coordinate this somehow with endthefed.us?

bspears1776, this bill is NOT about ending the Fed. Don't even mention that when getting signatures, since that will scare people away. This bill is about AUDITING the Fed.

That said, yes, they should have petitions for this at the End the Fed rallies.

our congressman Joe Pitts of Pennsylvania did a great thing by co-sponsoring HR-1207 i em extremely proud of the efforts of some of our government officials to stand up for and listen to the American people this is vital to the efforts of reclaiming our liberty and freedoms its is important if your representative of your state has not co-sponsored HR-1207 please e-mail him her and get your voice and views heard even if you have email him her 100 times or more let them know you know whats going on with our country and demand change

Can we get a breakdown of the total number of Republicans vs. Democrats on this bill? I hope at least 25% of them are Dems so this is not viewed as a partisan bill. I'm a little disappointed that Kucinich hasn't signed onto this bill too.

Tom,

Last breakdown I saw was Dems = 13, Repubs = 79.

Could the Campaign print a list of the 91 so we would know that our rep did or didn't sign on as we requested??

Dreamerdick,

We're keeping the lists we have as up to date as possible, so if you click on the link provided in the blog post, you'll be able to find out if your rep is on. Thanks!

Marilyn - You are in Dr. Paul's district? That's awesome. It must be a much more positive and fun experience to write to your rep than it is for me to write to mine :)

Lets just hope that once this bill passes we get real information on the Federal Reserve and not just more lies.

When is the deadline on this? Will the committee vote on HR1207 on the 28th or do I still have time to write letters to editors of newspapers in my district?

There's lots of time. A hearing hasn't even been scheduled yet. This is a fight that could take a while, but we're doing the petition push to take advantage of the surging momentum.

Well I dropped off a couple petitions in Walnut Creek last night. My congresswoman (Ellen Tauscher) up here in Livermore is pretty much a lame duck right now because she's accepted a position that Hilary offered her. But since she hasn't left her post quite yet, I still had to make the attempt at getting her to support the bill. I wrote a nice little letter to go with the two petitions also (myself and a co-worker).

I really hope this passes and I applaud Dr. Paul for changing tactics and realizing that abolishing the Fed is too big of a step at this point. Getting some transparency through this audit process might help build the case against the fed and will just enlighten even more people.
