Will this bill have to sit in committee and wait in line like the old video above, or will the big list of sponsors get it through quicker? Remember the old video above "I'm Just A Bill"?

I have contacted my Congressman several times and personally know several other people who have also contacted him.

Yesterday live on the radio a caller called in and asked why he has not yet cosponsored HR1207 and he said he did not know what HR1207 was!!

Please contact Congressman Boustany and let him know what HR1207 is. http://boustany.house.gov/ 337-235-6322

Good question, and one I've wondered myself. By having more cosponsors, it *should* speed up entire process of passing.

16% of the house are cosponsoring this bill. There are 21 reps for all of New England (I believe). So if the 16% was distributed randomly throughout the country, we should have 3 reps (3.36 to be exact) signed on from New England. Still not one rep from New England. Congrats everyone else, good work; what the hell is wrong with my corner of the country?

Hey I have an idea... Everyone should go to wikipedia and other wiki sites and under "Political Careers" for each of these members we should write Co-sponsored HR 1207 and the date. That should get some attention from people wiki-ing

More important that overall co-sponsors is the number of co-sponsors that are on the House Financial Services Committee. For the bill to make it out of committee, that is where the most support is needed. Here is a breakdown of that committee:

71 Total Members:
42 Democrats
29 Republicans

Republican Committee Members who are co-sponsors: 13
Bachmann
Capito
Castle
Garrett
Jones
Lucas
Manzullo
Marchant
McCotte r
Paul
Paulsen
Posey
Price

Republican Committee Members who are NOT co-sponsors: 16
Bachus
Barrett
Biggert
Campbell
Gerlach
Hensarling
Jenkins
King
Lanc e
Lee
McCarthy, Kevin
McHenry
Miller, Gary
Neugebauer
Putnam
Royce

Democrat Committee Members who are co-sponsors: 1
Grayson

Democrat Committee Members who are NOT co-sponsors: 41
Ackerman
Adler
Baca
Bean
Capuano
Carson
Childers
Clay
Cleaver
Donnelly
Driehaus
Ellison
Foster
Frank
Green
Gu tierrez
Himes
Hinojosa
Hodes
Kanjorski
Kilroy
Klein
Kosmas
Lynch
Maffei
Maloney
McCarthy, Carolyn
Meeks
Miller, Bradley
Minnick
Moore, Dennis
Moore, Gwen
Perlmutter
Peters
Scott
Sherman
Speier
Velazquez
Waters
Watt
Wilso n

The 14 Committee member co-sponsors make up only 19.7% voting strength. It is therefore very important to lobby the members of the committee. Especially the ranking Republican Spencer Bachus, his support would be very helpful in getting others to join.

Is there a certain number of co-sponsors the bill needs in order for it to move on in the process? Or does the greater number of co-sponsors just speed the process up?

Kentucky's representatives must just be a bunch of scumbags. Our state is generally pretty active on this kind of stuff, so I'm sure they've heard about it many times, yet not a one is cosponsoring this. 0 of 6. Zero of six. What in the world?

Also, yeah, where's Kucinich? He was one of the original people speaking against the Federal Reserve, and he still hasn't signed on to this? Time to put your vote where your mouth is buddy.

I'm delighted to see that my rep, Tom Latham, has signed on as a co-sponsor! I called him at the beginning of April and got a generic letter back about how "The Federal Reserve Board is tasked with the responsibility of conducting monetary policy free of political pressures."!

But I just called and left a message for him expressing my satisfaction that he's become a co-sponsor, keep up the pressure people it's working!

lolololol at Barney Frank not agreeing to every piece of 1207. He did, however, agree with every piece of obama's spending bill. Miraculous, I know, seeing as how he clearly didn't read much of it before he agreed with every single piece of it. Lol! I would like to know what piece of 1207 he does not agree with, as I see it only as one piece: transparency. Period. That's it. Either you want transparency with the fed or you don't.

I do have my concerns as to the bill remaining with RP's straight-forward language. I hope it is not "massaged" so much so that it doesn't stick to the original purpose. Sorry, I am a pessimist.

Dear WA State Congressman Adam Smith of the 9th:

I have come across a copy of your letter to a constituent regarding your cosponsorship of HR 1207, a bill requiring a Congressional audit of the Federal Reserve. I appreciate your verbal and written assertions that this is a bill you like, some minor concerns notwithstanding, and one which you have cosponsored. I think opening the Federal Reserve's books for all to see is a crucial step in getting maximum transparency into the financial system.

However, despite your repeated assertions that you have cosponsored this bill, you have not been listed on the Congressional website as being a cosponsor as of yet.The bill has many cosponsors, 71 in all. Yes, the cosponsors are mostly Republican, but as an American citizen and constituent of yours, I hope this does not matter to you since the issue itself is not partisan in nature.

Your letter demonstrates thoughtfulness on the issue, and I can appreciate your concerns. While there should be much public debate on the more ambitious bill dealing with the Federal Reserve which you mention (HR 833), which specifically calls for its abolition, I feel that HR 1207 is so obviously in the public's interest that I can't conceive of any strong argument against the bill that wouldn't have dire political consequences for the whoever made it were such a position to be declared publicly. Therefore, I don't suspect we'd ever hear such an argument from any of your colleagues.

If you have not done so already, please put your words into action and cosponsor HR 1207. Please support this bill coming to the floor of the House of Representatives so the public can have the opportunity to investigate the actions of the Federal Reserve, as well as allow the issue to be debated on the House floor with each member held accountable to his position by his vote.

Once again, thank you for your leadership of Washington's delegation on this issue, and thank you for your openness and demonstrable genuine concern for protecting the savings of American families as well as the purchasing power of the disadvantaged.

Sincerely,
