*****NEWS FLASH*****UPDATE***** H.R.1207 STILL ALIVE!******UPDATE***** NEWS FLASH*****

FELLOW IOWA PATRIOTS,

It has recently been reported that RON PAUL'S "Audit the Fed" bill, H.R.1207 had been gutted! While the "Good Doctor" was in town, this past weekend, (11-12/13-09) I was able to ask him about that report and get an update directly from him! He let us know that, "While Mel Watt had offered an amendment to the bill in committee,(which would gut portions of the bill), He has been asked by the Chairman, Barnie Frank, to offer up his own amendment, which He is working on." He is still comfortable, "at this time", with the possibility of H.R.1207 making it out of committee and accomplishing his original goal of a "Full Audit of the Fed."

My conversation with Dr. Paul, left me with the feeling that He had not given up on H.R.1207 making it out of committee intact, and neither should we!

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

11-20-09

Why the "LINE-OUT" above?  Because H.R.1207 has just made it out of committee INTACT!!!!!  Yes, Ron Paul's "AUDIT THE FED" bill is still alive and well at this point! There will be more hurdles for us to jump as we continue to push for a FULL AUDIT of the FED and we will take them on as we come to them, in the mean time, take pride in your accomplishments in keeping H.R.1207 alive and moving forward!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just for the record, (in case there are new readers to this blog) The Iowa C4L patriots have been successful in obtaining co-sponsorship of all five of our congressmen to H.R.1207 in the house, and both of our senators to S.604, however, it is always possible for an elected representative to remove their co-sponsorship of a bill and support a different bill. We Do Not Want That To Happen with any of our elected representatives! They are exactly where we want them right now!

One of the speakers at the CFL Regional Conference in St Louis had a great idea for HR1207.
Hand written letters to your congressman. Make sure the letter is positive. Don’t bash the representative – even if they voted for bailouts etc. They are more likely to respond to a positive letter. Send the letter to the office in the home district (not to DC) letters that arrive at the home district are few and far between but receive more weight. Tell them that you take your responsability as a voter seriously and that you vote every time there is an opportunity.
Have a county or district meeting and bring paper, pens, envelopes and stamps, have people fill it out while you are there – otherwise it won’t get done.

Does anyone know why exactly Steve King is not a co-sponsor? He's a former Buchananite so at one point in his life he had to have had at least some good ideas. At an event last fall, I had a brief conversation with him regarding the then recent TARP and casually mentioned that we need to "reign in the Fed." He then volunteered that we need to not only do that but go back to gold. Why now is he not willing to step up and call for an audit? I expect that from my Congressman, Bailout Braley but I expected better from King.

I had a sudden realization today. Most of us don't have time to keep track of every bill and everything that goes on in our state/fed governments everyday. Freakin' OVERLOAD! Then it occured to me that the majority of the time, the local news channels fill you in on the importance and revelance of a bill AFTER it has been voted on. Duh! I am going to email all of my local news channels and ask them to cover H.R.1207 as well as providing occassional updates. I think if enough people contacted them this bill would get some great coverage. I will be contacting the electeds as well!

I'm tired of being nice to these a**holes. It just doesn't work. When you are "positive" and "nice", they think you are weak. We The People are weak, but that is not the theme of my discussion. I recommend a more traditional 'nonlethal' approach. I'm warming up tar, enough for about 50, and my friends and family have harvested a lot of feathers from last season. You guys can email nice positive things all day long-I'd just like to remind you of the old saying "you can crap in one hand and hope in the other and see which one fills up first". Once the tar is warm you better get out of the way, then find a good vantage point to watch the tar and feathering We The People give these communist b*st*rds.

Glen,
Thank you again for your leadership on advancing HR1207 here in Iowa.
With Tom Latham now co-sponsored HR1207 a victory has appeared for the Iowa CFL. In the 4th congressional district we had a letter writing campaign, posted HR1207 flyers with our congressman's name and phone number on people's doors and urged those people to call Tom Latham. One of the Campaign for Liberty speakers at the St. Louis Regional Conference was a veteran lobbyist and knows how to get politicians to listen. Consider holding a county meeting and having a letter writing event. If you cant hold a letter writing county meeting simply write a personal letter to your congressman (keep it positive) it will be worth your while. Everyone who has been working on this...keep up the good work!

Fellow Patriots,
I have asked A.J.Spiker for Help on this project, and he has graciously agreeded. A.J. has demonstrated that he has the necessary FIRE IN HIS BELLY for the coming battles we
will have to fight to bring H.R.1207 to the floor of the U.S.Congress for a vote. Treat Him as a Project Leader, just as you have responded to my request for action in the past. Together, We can acheve Victory!

A focus on the Blue Dog Coalition. Support HR 1207.

Campaign for Liberty needs your help getting Congressman Boswell on board. Please call Congressman Leonard Boswell right away. Tell him to co-sponsor HR 1207

The congressman recently put out a flyer boasting about his commitment to fiscal responsibility. When you call his office; make sure you point out to his staffers that you know Congressman Boswell is a member of the Blue Dog Coalition and that you appreciate his dedication to fiscal responsibility. Let the person you talk with know that you are aware that on May 5, 2009 one of the Co-Chairs for the Blue Dog Coalition co-sponsored HR 1207. Tell them that you are very grateful for Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (SD) and her leadership and that you hope to see her friend Leonard Boswell co-sponsor HR 1207. After all... Congressman Boswell does support fiscal responsibility doesn’t he?

A Letter I received from Congressman Tom Latham dated May 6th 2006

"Dear A.J.

Because you have expressed interest in H.R. 1207, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act, I am writing you regarding recent developments surrounding this legislation.

You may be interested to know, I became a cosponsor of H.R. 1207, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act on April 21, 2009. This bill seeks to require the Comptroller General to perform an audit and report on the Federal Reserve System and the Federal Reserve banks. H.R. 1207 currently has over 120 bipartisan cosponsors and awaits further consideration by the House Financial Services Committee.

It is important during this financial crisis that congress provides thorough oversight of the Federal Reserve and I believe this can only be accomplished through a complete accounting of the Federal Reserve's activities. Although many recent actions by the Federal Reserve have drawn scrutiny by Congress, many actions are still hidden from oversignt by outdated rules that limit audits of the Federal Reserve.

Please be assured I will support this legislation should the House Leadership allow it to be considered, in its current form, during the current 111th Congress. As always, your input is extremely valuable to me, so please do not hesitate to contact me again with your comments, concerns and questions.

Sincerely Tom Latham Member of Congress"

Does this make Grassely the most liberal Iowa representative out of both houses? Sad, but not surprised.

To those who are SERIOUS about getting Grassley to cosponsor S.604,

I am going to give you specific directions to follow. Follow these directions. Feel free to question them but try to do some homework on Sen. Grassley's history before wasting much energy arguing.

Hand-write a letter to Sen. Grassley, 135 Hart Senate Office Building, Washington, DC 20510-1501 the following argument for why he should support S.604, in your words:

Dear Sen. Grassley,

As you are aware support for S.604 is growing. There is an argument for this legislation, not often made, that you are uniquely equipped to understand.

Imagine if Microsoft were given control of the currency of the United States. Microsoft's behavior toward its customers and competitors is defined by its monopoly position -- a monopoly position deriving from the fact that people must purchase its software in order to interoperate with each other. Likewise, if Microsoft had control of the currency of the United States, people would have to obtain their currency in order to engage in all commercial transactions. Imagine into what sorts of abuses of the public Microsoft would degenerate if its only accountability to the public for its monopoly on monetary policy were the periodic appointment of a new CEO.

Such is the degeneracy of the Federal Reserve.

People need a standard currency. Indeed, the more international commerce there is, the more pressure there is for a standard world currency. This has made the Federal Reserve the Microsoft of the world's financial system -- controlling the monetary policy of the world from behind closed doors.

Can you imagine the enormous and corrupt world-wide empire Microsoft would build if its de facto monopoly power were extended beyond mere software interoperability to all commercial interactions? Can you imagine all of the economists Microsoft would fund to do "studies" showing that the world economy depends on Microsoft retaining its "independence"?

This is the reason there must be an audit -- a full and complete audit -- of the Federal Reserve.

Please cosponsor S.604

How did you find out about the Sept. Hearing and where can we look to make sure we keep informed about it (other than this blog, which has done a great job of keeping us up to date)

In reply to ddkrutsinger question,
John Tate sent a e-mail to those of us who are signed up to received daily updates. The same information is usually also posted on the C4L website on the left side in the blogs. I believe that you can sign-up for updates in the "tool" area of the tool bar, drill down to "settings" and then specify how often you wish to receive e-mails. I am not certain if you have to be a dues paying member or not to receive updates,(I am a dues paying member so I get the updates)otherwise, just keep checking my blog. I will continue to keep everyone up-to-date on the "AUDIT THE FED" issue until we have succeeded!
