Ryan Sheets Louisville, KY | Sending this to John Yarmuth of KY-3...
If you truly believe what you said regarding Article 1 of the United States Constitution you should immediately move to support House Resolution 1207.
The act, introduced by Congressman Ron Paul from Texas, mandates an audit on the Federal Reserve. For too long the Federal Reserve has usurped the checks and balances of our three-branch system without any government oversight. For too long we have been duped by a banking cartel that has little to no interest in our welfare or in Democracy. For too long the Federal Reserve has taxed us all with inflation by printing money out of thin air.
Article 1, Section 8 specifically grants Congress the power to coin and regulate the value of money. This is not an undefined power, nor is it a gray area. This is just as hazardous, if not more hazardous, as the consistantly increasing Executive Branch power experienced since the presidency of Lincoln.
At least if we make the president a King we generally know what the King is doing. The Federal Reserve gives us virtually no information on its actions, and aside from the natural (albeit delayed) adaptations of the market we have no idea what is happening to our money supply.
Even more vile than taxation is the inflation imposed upon us all by the Federal Reserve's easy money policies. If there are ten dollars in an economy and you introduce another dollar to the economy each dollar is realistically worth 91 cents. Furthermore, those who only had a dollar to start with are not going to get a pay raise from the guy with 5 dollars; he recognizes that his 5 dollars is worth just 4.55 now.
Rich people become rich by saving money. Since the guy with 5 dollars controls half the money he controls up to half of the spending. When you start to devalue the money he has he is more likely to find ways to save his money than he is to start paying his employees more. Those with less are forced to make do with less. Savings are made nearly impossible for the lower half, the half you really want saving money.
Mr. Yarmuth, I hope you will consider all of this and take immediate action to see that the Federal Reserve is held accountable. |

nelsonwinters Duluth, GA | Here's John Linder's (GA-7)response to HR833 which seems to indicate he would be in favor of sponsoring HR1207...
While I do not support efforts to eliminate the Federal Reserve, I do believe that we can make it more accountable and provide the American people with an opportunity to view the manner in which this nation's monetary policy is controlled. In light of the Federal Reserve's willingness to invoke its role as "lender of last resort," I believe additional transparency and disclosure are especially important. You may be interested to know that I have supported legislation in the past which would give the General Accountability Office the opportunity to audit the Federal Reserve Board, the Federal Advisory Council, the Federal Open Market Committee, and the Federal Reserve banks and their branches. I prefer this more limited approach to the wholesale abolishment of the Federal Reserve, which is what H.R. 833 envisions. |

Glenn Cumming, GA | Congressman Deal,
I just found out today that you are not one of the co-sponsors of H.R. 1207, The Federal Reserve Transparency Act.
It's understandable with all the chaos produced by the last administration and the current one, that you may not have had a chance to familiarize yourself with this piece of legislation sponsored by that great statesman, Ron Paul of Texas.
Please join Representatives Broun, Kingston, and Price in supporting this bill as a co-sponsor.
If you are for individual liberty, prosperity, and peace then it is time to turn off the money machine that is the Federal Reserve System. It makes totalitarianism and legalized murder possible.
Dr. Paul has it right and has been right for over thirty years. Please join him in defending that ideal envisioned by our founders.
Thank you for attention to this most urgent matter, |

"I'm writing to ask you to sponsor H.R. 1207, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act which mandates an audit of the Federal Reserve. It is a one page bill found here:
http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h111-1207.
As of this moment, there are 29 co-sponsors, including three from the great state of Florida: Cliff Stearns, Bill Posey and Alan Grayson. I'm asking you to join them and co-sponsor H.R. 1207.
The Federal Reserve refuses to give us an accounting. They print our money, our U.S. dollars. They spend it in the trillions, we pay interest, our children and grandchildren are expected to pay back principal... don't we have a right to know what that money bought?
The United States is suffering a financial meltdown. We must know where our money is going. Help us by co-sponsoring H.R.1207 and demanding an audit of the Federal Reserve. Even those who support the Fed and all of its bailouts should still ask where the money is going." |

canam San Rafael, CA | pensotti, I think our communication DID help. Woolsey is in my district, and I called her offices (ALL OF THEM) to thank her and encourage her to get other democrats on board. Then I called McClintock when I noticed his name was not on the list. I talked to the staffers and called a few other CA Reps offices too.
When they asked where I was calling from in their district, I acknowledged that while I am not a constituent in their district and that my rep has already signed on, I went on to say that I feel so strongly about the bill that I want ALL of MY California representatives on board because they ultimately represent the entire state, not just their own district.
That kind of polite enthusiasm has seemed to help. I usually try to call each local office and the national office for each rep, because ultimately one or two numbers will have a full voicemail inbox. The way I figure, if one of the offices drop the ball, I'll have talked with someone or left a message at another office for the same person. That's my strategy, fwiw. |

The Federal Reserve Transparency Act is now up to 28 cosponsors! I am
curious as to why Congressional District 14's Representative, Mr.
LaTourette, does not wish to find out what the Federal Reserve is doing
with over $9 Trillion in funds that they have created from nothing.
It seems to me that the People should be aware of what the Federal
Reserve is doing and this bill would help in doing so. Both Republicans
and Democrats are helping this bill.
Please advise if anyone knows why Mr. LaTourette is standing on the

Rogie3 Jacksonville, FL | It is kinda scary auditing the FED. If we get this passed then we could expect to uncover fraud on a massive scale. Then what? Would we get to see who the private shareholders of the FED are? I think that if most people where aware that 25% of thier tax dollars went to paying interest on the 5 trillion in debt the FEd holds then this would pass in about 2 minutes. With all of the New money they have created this year, we will not collect enough taxes to pay just the interest on the treasury bills held by the fed. We are screwed. |

I already received a reply to my letter asking him to co-sponsor and support Dr. Paul's earlier End The Fed bill. The letter was the standard pack of lies. The Fed is our friend. We need The Fed to stabilize our economy. The Fed is a government agency, under strict control of Congress. My congresscritter is either a moron, or he thinks I am.

Dear Representative [Representative's Name Here],
I urgently seek your Support and Co-Sponsorship of H.R. 1207: The Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009.
Recently, it has come to light that the Federal Reserve is not accountable to American citizens. While we are required by law to give an accounting of every penny we come in contact with, the Federal Reserve, in contrast, can spend as it pleases without Congressional approval or oversight. In this economic crisis, we deserve an accounting of how our money is being spent-- H.R. 1207 will shed light on the Federal Reserve. President Obama pledged to bring transparency to Washington D.C., and by supporting this piece of legislation you are assisting the President in achieving this very worthy goal.
President Obama also pledged to work with both parties in order to find bi-partisan solutions to the problems facing America. H.R. 1207 currently has bi-partisan support amongst its 28 and counting co-sponsors. Your support for this legislation will demonstrate a willingness on your part to put the interests of your constituents before party loyalties.
This critical legislation is short and concise, and can be read in less than 5 minutes. I encourage you to take the time to read H.R. 1207, and then swiftly act to support it. A lack of support for H.R. 1207 suggests that you oppose the President's goals of transparency and bi-partisanship, and instead favor secrecy and division.
It should be noted that a common error among many members of Congress is that Title 12, Ch.3, Subchapter II, §248b, which orders the Board of Governors to give an annual independent audit of the Federal Reserve, provides the results of the audit to Congress or the public. In reality, these audits are held in secret by non-elected officials of a private corporation that controls the monetary policy of the United States of America with no Congressional oversight or regulation.
Thank you in advance for your attention. I have every expectation that you will do right by your constituents and support this measure to bring accountability to the Federal Reserve.
Sincerely,
[Signature]

BruceLayne Lexington, KY | I mailed this letter to my congressman yesterday. Feel free to copy any portion for your own use. I copied some with permission from another C4L member.
Representative Chandler:
Please co-sponsor and/or support H.R.1207, an effort to audit the Federal Reserve.
Recently, it has come to light that there is little to no accountability to the people on the part of the Federal Reserve. As citizens, we're required to give an accounting of every penny we come in contact with. The Federal Reserve has never been held to the same standard. During this time of extreme economic crisis, the people deserve an accounting of where our money is going.
Currently, H.R. 1207 is enjoying bi-partisan support. Your efforts in supporting this important legislation would go a long way in proving to your constituents that you not only hold the Federal Reserve to the same standard as you do your constituents, but it would also show that you believe in transparency. Anything less than support for this resolution suggests that you are in favor of secrecy and a lack of accountability to the people who pay the bills. We pay the tab. We have a right to know where our money is going.
Unlike recent bills that you voted for that had hundreds of pages and just a few hours to read, this bill can be read in under 5 minutes. I encourage you to take the time to read it, and then move to support it.

Dear Mr. Roskam,
I recently emailed you asking you to vote YES for HR 1207, The Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009. Now I am writing to request that you cosponsor the bill.
I greatly appreciate your vote against the ludicrous stimulus-spending bill and am glad to know that you value transparency in government. Now it is time to demand transparency from the Federal Reserve.
I was outraged when Sen. Bernie Sanders asked Chairman Bernanke to tell the Senate Budget Committee who received 2.2 trillion dollars of the American people’s money and Bernanke’s answer was “no.” It is appalling to think that, as a young American, my future wealth is in the hands of a rogue agency that refuses to account for the money it is lending.
22 of your Republican colleagues have already cosponsored the bill, which would give Congress the authority, for the first time ever, to truly audit the Federal Reserve. I strongly urge you to join them in supporting this historic legislation, which I believe is of the highest importance. I know I do not need to mention how foolish any congressperson will look to his constituents if he votes against finding out to whom, exactly, their money is going, but I cannot emphasize enough the amount of respect that will be given to those congresspersons who take a stand for what is right and finally demand answers from the Federal Reserve.
Please, PLEASE, look into HR 1207 and say that you will cosponsor the bill? It is very short and most definitely worth considering.
