[Newer: House Passes "Stimulus"] [Older: Compromise Close on "Stimulus"]

House Joint Resolution 1003, Oklahoma State Rep. Charles Key's resolution affirming Oklahoma's sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment, passed unanimously in committee yesterday!  It should be scheduled for a floor hearing soon.

A number of state legislators have introduced similiar resolutions in their states, and it is good to see some progress being made.

Oklahoma members - contact your local representatives today and urge them to vote for final passage!  The toughest battle is sure to be in the state Senate.

So, what does this bill do?

The resolution itself doesn't mean a thing- it carries no legislative wait.
But if it is reissued as formal legislation, then such a bill would void all unconstitutional acts of the Federal Government within the borders of Oklahoma.

Be careful though, Obama greatly admires Abraham Lincoln.

I wrote EVERY State Delegate and State Senator in Virginia with info about other states doing this and I got no replies!!! We have to get bust letter writing and e-mailing these lugheads to make them get off their lazy butts

Agree with Fozze.

Combine these actions, and Obamanation's adoration of Lincoln...we need fear no greater enemy than ourselves, and our ability to destroy this country from within.

"if it is reissued as formal legislation, then such a bill would void all unconstitutional acts of the Federal Government within the borders of Oklahoma"

Not really, unconstitutional acts are void already. This is just confirmation that Oklahoma doesn't do doublethink (lying to one's self (and others)).

Lets hope enough states affirm 10th amendment to make it impossible for a state focused false flag, like the OK City bombing.

I have already written my state representative (Leslie Osborn) and asked her to support it when it comes to the house floor. I asked her to support it because the federal government has long usurped authority properly given to the states under the tenth amendment and that it needs to be put back into its proper Constitutional place.

I'm glad I live in Oklahoma. We elected some pretty good people (except for governor Brad Henry), Inhofe being one of them (big opponent of the TARP). I'll be writing Mary Fallin to support this.

According to Alan Korwin, The Uninvited Ombudsman, at least six other states are in the process of doing the same thing. Read his article with links to state movements at http://www.pagenine.typepad.com/page_nine/2009/02/state-sovereignty-bills.html

Was already considering it anyway, but this definetly adds to the decision.

Senator Randy Brogdon is one of the supporters of this resolution. He has come several times down to Texas to speak out against the TTC (or NAFTA superhighway)

At a Speech in Dallas this last summer, someone asked how we could fight the TTC and Immigration issues like Oklahoma, his answer was to elect more people like Ron Paul. I was not expecting that, it floored me.

After the speech, I went up and thanked him for the RP comment. A few months later I got to see him again in my own county Executive committee meeting.

He know his stuff and is a Ron Paul type Republican.

Wow great job Oklahoma, if anyone has more info on Arizona's resolution please send me an email here at C4L. I have emailed my representative and called his office but I cannot get any more information than what that single page is showing.

As an Oklahoman I'm proud of this. I emailed who I was supposed to! Also guys, I need your help with something incredibly bizzare. Watch this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7HpbKBBVr0

There was an electronic run on the bank on September 11th, 2008. According to Representative, Kanjorski. People have been getting the date wrong. He says that Paulson/Bernanke came to MEET WITH THEM ON SEPT 15, 2008. Well that's a monday! The preceeding thursday, when this run on the bank happened was September 11, 2008! Of course, our media = COMPLICIT.

Yes, we wrote the whole committee on this one. Our state is a great one to be in right now; it is just unfortunate that the party is still not quite right on.

When I first heard about this last year, I contacted my state reps to push them to do the same for Texas. We shouldn't be "moving to Oklahoma", we should be pushing this in our own states.

I read New Hampshire's resolution for affirmation of states' rights today as well. It's really a beautifully crafted document and I forwarded it to my state rep and senator.

For those interested:

For the references to Lincoln, this isn't a secession. This is telling the federal government to mind its business and stay out of ours.

How do we get our states to consider a similar resolution if they're not already? A C4L email said contact your state legislators but which ones? State House?

There should really be some kind of action item to contact the appropriate people in your states and push this. New Hampshires should be referenced as a great example.

We Texans love to make fun of the Okies. It's sad they beat us to something like this when we're one of the most independent states in the Union.

Still, congrats Oklahoma. I hope you see it through. :)

This is what gets me about the Campaign for Liberty and the Liberatarians alike. They say "we want to get back to the constitution" but they are absolutely clueless what this means and how to go about getting it done. If you ask 100 CL's & L's you get 100 answers, and all off base because they address the symptoms and not the problems. As a result time and money is spend, like this resolution, on frivolous useless actions that mean little and will even accomplish less.

First and foremost if you want to get power back to the States, the most essential and critical step has to be the repeal of the 1913 Amendment 17 of the constitution. Everything else is an exercise in futility. Furthermore, if you haven't already get yourself educated by reading the "The 5000 Year Leap" put out by the Center for Constitutional Studies so you know what the deep rooted breaches of the constitution we face today and what deep rooted action needs to be done to fix. If everyone who says "let's get back to the constitution" was speaking from the same historical understanding and the same common sense solutions we could work as one and actually get something done.

I hope they pass it. But what effect would it have, and what would the consequences be?
