Dear Friends of Liberty, The Virginia Campaign for Liberty has officially launched a legislative campaign around two 10th amendment bills. We're calling the campaign the "10th Amendment Revolution". With all the federal power grabs coming down from Washington, the citizens of Virginia are calling for 10th amendment solutions in defense of our individual liberty and state's rights. There are some legislators who are working to push for a State Sovereignty Resolution and introduced HR61 at the end of the 2009 session that never made it out of committee. While their effort is to be commended, we at Virginia Campaign for Liberty believe that a Declaration of Sovereignty Resolution poses certain dangers in that it allows bad legislators to clean their skirts with a piece of legislation that does nothing to make the 10th amendment more binding. It is our mission to put the 10th amendment, the law of the land, into practice. Our bills will do just that. The first is a bill modeled after the Montana gun bill called the Virginia Firearms Freedom Act (VFFA). This bill serves as a 10th amendment challenge to the powers of Congress under the commerce clause that prohibits the federal regulation of firearms, firearm accessories, and ammunition manufactured and retained in Virginia. Delegate Charles Carrico has agreed to carry the bill in the 2010 session of the General Assembly. The second is the Virginia Healthcare Freedom Act (VHFA). This bill is a 10th amendment challenge to the powers of the federal government to mandate federally approved healthcare by every citizen under the threat of steep fines and jail time. Delegate Bob Marshall has agreed to carry this important legislation in the 2010 session. Through earlier surveys of the candidates for state seats in the General Assembly, we were able to identify 27 candidates that went on to be elected in their districts to the Virginia House of Delegates who said they would support such legislation. Within 2 hours of sending our email with copies of our bills, we had a chief patron for both bills and cosponsors for each in the House. We are currently working to find patrons for a Senate version of the bills. We have contacted many like-minded groups asking that they join forces with us in our campaign for successful passage. In less than one week of networking, we have built a coalition of 13 citizen activist groups to include VC4L (of course), VA Federation of Tea Parties, Richmond Patriots, We Surround Them, Virginia Gun Owners Coalition, Gun Owners of America, Virginia Citizens Defense League, Freedom Ministries, Second Amendment March, Freedomworks, Americans for Prosperity, Restore the Founders' Vision, and Tertium Quids. The momentum is unbelievable and session doesn't even begin until January 13th. On the first day of session, we have a team who will deliver packets to each of the 1oo Delegates in the House and 40 Senators to include a cover letter with contact information, a copy of the bills, and talking points for each. Virginia Campaign for Liberty will host a Lobby Day/Rally on January 18 with speakers from each of the coalition groups, an emcee dressed in period costume as Patrick Henry and will give the famous Patrick Henry speech. Our new Attorney General Elect who was endorsed by Ron Paul, and the chief patrons of our bills will be the keynote speakers, one of whom is a long time supporter of Ron Paul, was the incumbent for his state seat, won the election, and was also endorsed by Ron Paul. We spoke with our Attorney General Elect, Ken Cuccinelli, and he is reviewing our bills and will be providing us with his official written opinion as Attorney General to be posted on the C4L website and a website we've set up dedicated to this legislative fight for the coalition. We have contacted the NRA with our gun bill asking for their endorsement of it and after speaking with one of their coordinators, it is likely we will get that endorsement. Prior to our November 3rd state election, we surveyed the candidates for Governor on the issues. The Democrat Candidate, Creigh Deeds, never responded but the Republican candidate did and said he would support the legislation. Well guess what? The Republican candidate won and if he holds to his promise, he will sign our bills into law if we get the votes needed for successful passage in the House and Senate. With a Republican majority in the House and Senate in Virginia and judging from the veto proof vote on our Stop Dangerous ID bills in the last session, and add the fact that we picked up 6 more seats on the Republican side in our recent election, we have a very good chance of getting both bills passed. I am told that the Virginia Citizens Defense League has had the greatest turn out for a rally on the capital grounds with 500 participants than any other group during session. We aim to get 2000 people to the General Assembly on January 18th and judging from the momentum that is already building, we can and will do it. We are already getting press coverage without even trying. We are going to turn the Virginia General Assembly upside down in the 2010 session. They won't know what hit them. But we can't take anything for granted. We have a long hard battle ahead. The ACLU, AARP, AFL-CIO, and all the anti-gun moms and pops, will be fighting us at every turn. If we are to be successful, we will need your help to cover the cost of such a huge campaign. Please consider making an online contribution of $25, $50, $100 or whatever you can to help with the cost to launch a successful campaign to take our 10th Amendment Revolution to victory and get these bills passed.

Whereas, on September 12, 2009, hundreds of thousands of American patriots, who refuse to sit idly by as the Federal Government advances skyrocketing deficits, taxpayer-funded bailouts, pork-barrel projects, burdensome taxes, unaccountable policy czars, command-and-control energy policy, and a government takeover of health care, came to Washington, DC, to show their disapproval; Whereas individuals also wanted to convey their displeasure with the future tax increases that will be required to pay for deficit-financed spending; Whereas these individuals understand that the fundamental American principles of limited government and personal liberty are under direct assault; Whereas this dedicated group of freedom-loving Americans believe in open, accountable, responsible, constitutionally based government; Whereas hundreds of buses, multiple caravans of cars from across the country, and many individually chartered flights, as well as thousands of lone-traveling cars and trucks, brought these patriots to Washington, DC, solely for this event; Whereas these individuals endured considerable personal expense to get to the march, including transportation and lodging expenses, as well as lost wages in many instances; Whereas estimates of the number of people who peacefully marched from Freedom Plaza to the West Front of the U.S. Capitol on September 12, 2009, range as high as 1,700,000 marchers; Whereas all 50 States were represented in the march; Whereas this event is considered to be the largest ever gathering of fiscal conservatives in Washington, DC; Whereas special accolades are due to the grassroots citizens organizations across the country who helped individuals exercise their constitutionally protected First Amendment rights in the Nation's capital; and Whereas when the current trends of government expansion and freedom retrenchment are reversed, it will be due in large part to the efforts of the hundreds of thousands who marched on Washington, DC, on September 12, 2009: Now, therefore, be it Resolved, That the House of Representatives expresses its gratitude and appreciation to the hundreds of thousands of people who marched on Washington, DC, on September 12, 2009, to show their love of liberty and their grievance with recent government actions.

Dear Mrs. Holt,
Thank you for contacting me about The Federal Reserve Accountability Act. I appreciate the benefit of your views on this important issue.
As you know, on October 20, 2009, this legislation was introduced by Senators Jeff Merkley (D-OR) and Bob Corker (R-TN) and will be referred to the Committee on Housing, Banking and Urban Affairs. I will certainly keep your thoughts in mind as we consider this legislation in committee, and if the full Senate considers this bill or similar proposals in the future.
Again, thanks for writing. As we move forward in the 111th Congress, please continue to be in touch with your opinions and concerns.
Sincerely,

Senators Jeff Merkley (D-OR) and Bob Corker (R-TN) have introduced the Federal Reserve Accountability Act in an attempt to kill HR 1207/S 604 by passing a bill that prevents a full audit and full transparency from America's secretive central bank. While language in this bill would permit a limited audit of the Fed's actions in the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) and similar high profile bailouts, it would not allow an audit to review the Fed's inflation of the money supply or its agreements with foreign central banks, among other shortcomings. Additionally, the names of the institutions who received the funds would not be available until one year after each "emergency" program ended, and you know how quickly the federal government likes to end programs. Seventy-five percent of the American people, over two thirds of the House of Representatives, and over a quarter of the Senate support Ron Paul's Audit the Fed legislation. With those historic levels of support, there is no excuse for settling for anything less than a full Audit the Fed bill. Anything less is merely an attempt to stop our efforts as we get closer to passage of a real bill. Call Senators Mark Warner (202-224-2023) and Jim Webb (202-224-4024) and tell them you expect them to support the American people's demand for full transparency, not some watered down measure designed to stop a full audit!

The next CPAC will be held February 18-20, 2010 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington D.C. The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) is THE premiere event for conservative activists. Each year, the power players in the conservative movement gather in D.C. for a three-day conference. Campaign for Liberty represents the traditional conservative viewpoints of Robert Taft and Barry Goldwater. Our goal is to change hearts and minds at this conference, not through confrontation or arguments, but rather spreading our message in a friendly, respectful manner. Volunteering at CPAC is an extremely rewarding experience. This event helps to create leaders in the movement as people develop and show their full potential. It is a great opportunity to work beside and meet with the Campaign for Liberty National Staff, as well as make numerous new contacts from across the country (and even some great friends)! Volunteers are asked to help out approximately 4 hours each day they are at the conference. We will do our best to make schedules that allow each volunteer to attend whatever events or activities they have planned for their time in D.C. (i.e. - sightseeing time for those of you who have never been to the city before). If volunteers wish to register for the events at CPAC, you can do so here. C4L may be offering housing. If interested please contact Donna Holt as the number of beds are on hold but not actually paid for until we find out an estimate of how many we will need. Please send me an email to get on our volunteer list so that we can notify you of all future instructions.
Yours in liberty, Donna Holt Interim VA State Coordinator

Not having the necessary votes to get the healthcare reform passed, the Senate is rumored to use a secret plan to move healthcare through using a seldom used parliamentary procedure. The plan is to proceed to a House passed non-health care bill to provide a shell of legislation to give Obamacare a ride to the House and then to Obama's desk. Here's the secret part: the Senate would pass healthcare reform as an anmendment to a completely unrelated bill so the Senate and House could act quickly and without further debate. Right now, the Senate Finance Committee is in the process of marking up health care reform legislation. Due to Senate procedure, what they are actually marking up is a 200+ page conceptual framework of the actual legislation, not a real bill. That means that not only has no Senator even read the bill, but there is a high probability that the bill hasn't even been written yet. Here is the Secret Plan: 1. The Senate Finance Committee will finish work on the marking up of Senator Max Baucus' bill. Baucus has not unveiled final legislation and admendments are being added. Many Senators are upset that they don't have a final language for a bill, yet they sit in Committee, marking up a draft document that is not in the form of legislative language. 2. Next, Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid, will take the final product of the Senate Finance Committee and merge it with the product of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee. This was Kennedy's bill, which passed the HELP Committee on 07/15/09 on a party line vote. Remember, most Senators will still not know what they voted for in the Finance Committee. 3. Senator Reid will then move to proceed to HR1586, a bill to impose a tax on bonuses, received by certain TARP recipients. This was the bill passed by the House in the wake of AIG bonus controversy and is currently sitting on the Senate Legislative Calendar. Reid will move to proceed, and he will need 60 votes to act on this bill. After the motion is approved, he will then offer a complete substitute bill including the combined Senate HELP and the Finance Committee products. This means that the entire healthcare reform effort will be included as an amendment to a TARP bill that has been sitting in the Senate for months. 4. For this strategy to work, the proponents would need to hold together for liberal caucus of 57 Democrats, 2 Independents (Lieberman and Sanders) and a replacement for Kennedy. Once the Senate passes a bill and sends it to the House, all the House would have to do is pass the bill without changes, and Obama will be presented with his healthcare reform. If this plan does not work, the Senate and House may consider using reconciliation to pass the legislation. Does this sound like a transparent, bipartisan and effective way to change the way millions of Americans get their healthcare? Only to the socialists.

Passionate supporters of auditing the Fed were already beginning to assemble when I arrived at Senator Mark Warner's Midlothian office at 3:40pm. There were 93 signatures collected from folks who had either not yet signed or had not yet turned in the petition signatures they had collected over the last month. An estimated 120 people attended the event. I started the rally by giving the crowd an update on HR1207 & S604 then turned it over to the citizens to speak their mind and boy did they have a lot to say. Over 16 people spoke Our Chesterfield County Coordinator, Rick Michaels, Albemarle County Coordinator, Jack Faw, & Henrico County Coordinator, Laura Alcorn were all there to lend their support. Jack and Rick joined me in speaking to the crowd. I had sent a press release out to 4 different media outlets but none showed up. WRVA did mention our rally and invited people to come on the air to discuss an audit of the Fed from 3 - 6 PM. I am proud to announce we delivered 2520 petition signatures collected by Campaign for Liberty coordinators along with members of We Surround Them, the Richmond Tea Party, the Chester Patriots and the Hopewell Glenn Beck Meetup group. It was a great event. Senator Warner's staffers told us they have all encouraged the Senator to co-sponsor the bill and that he supports an audit of the Fed. We asked "SO WHY HASN'T HE CO-SPONSORED THE BILL?" Of course they could not answer the question. Here are a few pictures. In the first one you will see me in the center holding the stack of petitions.
I am in the center with the black slacks and gold blouse holding the petitions.
Thanks to everyone who attended and made it a very successful event.

Catherine Crabill, the Republican candidate for the Virginia 99th District House of Delegates, clearly understands the Constitution and the intent of the founders in the Bill of Rights in her July 15th tea party speech. The 2nd Amendment's 'Right to Bear Arms' (including gunpowder) has been a precious liberty and guarantee of freedom for Virginians since the adoption of the Bill of Rights influenced by Patrick Henry. Patrick Henry of Virginia spoke out against British tyranny in 1765, and again in 1775 with his famous "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" speech at St. John's church in Richmond which motivated the Virginia Provincial Convention to bear arms against England and then to vote for independence from it. Patrick Henry is considered one of the greatest orators of all time and is given credit for being responsible for our Bill of Rights which we have its precious freedoms of speech and religion which it contains. When Catherine Crabill spoke out against the tyranny by our current administration, she was denounced by Republican Chairman, Pat Mullins and the GOP ticket and even asked to step aside forfeiting her candidacy against Democrat, Albert Pollard. It shouldn't surprise us that liberals would once again twist the words of a conservative and take it out of context, but it is disheartening that the GOP leadership would align themselves with the left rather than defend the sentiment of the founders. By distancing themselves, the GOP ticket has created a firestorm among conservatives and supporters of Crabill who believe they have demonstrated their lack of understanding of the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Pat Mullins and the GOP candidates vowed during their political campaigns to rebuild and reunite the party prior to the state convention but are now drawing a line in the sand that continues to divide the conservatives from the moderates in Virginia.

Health Care Reform Rally At Perriello's Office
"Organizing for America" The Obama administration is trying to rally supporters at Congressman Perriello's Charlottesville office this coming Tuesday morning September 1st at 8 AM in support of government run health care. Here is part of an invitation sent out to members of Organizing for America: "Congress is about to head back to D.C. to make historic decisions about health insurance reform. This is our last, best chance to take a stand while their attention is focused back home. So we're organizing "Health Insurance Reform Now" events all around the country to show the overwhelming support for reform. These events will be watched closely by Congress and the media to gauge just how strongly voters feel about reform -- and every extra person who shows up will make a strong, public case for change. In the next few days, there's an event happening near you -- and we need all the OFA supporters in the area there. Will you join us?" I am sure that they will once again be "importing" union drones to swell their ranks, I am asking that anyone who is available Tuesday morning Sept.1st at 7:45 AM come down to Perriello's office to let the congressman know that the majority of the 5th District residents are against government run health care. We are in the fight of our lives, if this bill passes we may never be able to return to free market health care in a form that we know it. So if you can make it before work or after you see your children off to school please come down and bring your hand written signs. Unlike the proponents of health care we cannot afford to pay people to show up, we need the support of the true grass root movement that we have become. Perriello's Charlottesville Office 313 2nd Street, SE, Suite 112 Try to arrive before 8 AM but don't hesitate to come later. Better late then not at all. As of 1:15 Sunday afternoon 39 people from Organizing America has signed up for this event. Dear Friends of Liberty, Congressman Ron Paul answered to our outrage over excessive federal spending with HR1207, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act, and in just six short months we have reached millions of Americans through phone calls, mailings, radio and television interviews, letters to the editors, emails, social networking sites, door-to-door canvassing, booths at fairs, gun shows and music festivals, and a host of other local events and activities in communities around the country. As a result of our efforts, there are now 282 cosponsors of HR1207 and 23 co-sponsors of the Senate companion bill, S604. That is a truly remarkable accomplishment but we are not done yet. Senator Warner has not responded to our request for co-sponsorship of S604 so it is time for us to turn up the heat and DEMAND that he support transparency of the Federal Reserve. The next three weeks are crucial to this effort. We didn't come this far to see an Audit the Fed bill die in the Senate. Campaign for Liberty has a "30-day Mass Action Plan" to bring as many Senators on board with S604 as possible. We've met greater challenges before and we can do it again but it will take a major effort on our part if we are to be successful. We've already been successful in making monetary policy a key issue in the public conscience. Polls show that 75% of Americans support an audit of the Federal Reserve and nearly 2/3 of the House supports an audit. Now we must use that same momentum to gain support in the Senate. Here is what we need from every lover of liberty in the state of Virginia: 1) We need you to sign and collect petitions for S.604. Your local coordinators will be contacting you on where you can sign or help to collect petitions. But you don't have to wait for instructions! Visit the Campaign for Liberty website or the brand new AuditTheFed.com to download and print petitions to and get any signatures you can. Whether it's 5 or 500, every signature counts. It's the perfect time to get out and meet your neighbors, attend events and spread the message of liberty. Contact your local, county, or regional coordinator and make arrangements for the collection of those petitions to be sent to me no later than September 5th so they can be delivered to Senator Warner's Midlothian office on September 15th. 2) We need you to talk to Senator Warner at public appearances. Politicians are hiding from protesters unhappy with big government, which means we don't know where or when Senator Warner will make an appearance. Keep your eyes open, and if there is going to be an event make sure you attend and talk to Senator Warner about S.604. 3) We need you to sign-up to call Senator Warner's office. The last week of the 30 Days of Action will include a nationwide phone campaign to keep Senator Warner's phone ringing off the hook. Go to the AuditTheFed.com website and sign up for a time to call. Then remember to call Senator Warner. Our goal is to have someone call every 5 minutes. That's just 500 callers for the entire week, a goal we should accomplish easily. If you forget to sign-up or you can't find a convenient time available, don't let that stop you. Make the call! 4) We need everyone to show-up for the big petition drop-off event on September 15th at 4PM in Midlothian. The Campaign for Liberty's 30 Days of Action will culminate with nationwide visits to local Senate offices. Our goal is to have over 100 people show up for the Virginia rally at Senator Warner's Midlothian office to drop-off thousands of petitions. The office is located at: 5309 Commonwealth Center Parkway Mark your calendars and make your plans to be there!!! We Virginians have the right stuff to succeed. We also know that victory could mean a revolution in the United States' monetary policy, once the workings of the Fed are finally revealed. Need more motivation? Campaign for Liberty is offering prizes for truly outstanding efforts. The person that collects the most signatures in the state (as certified by a State, Regional, or County Coordinator) will win a pocket Constitution and a copy of Dr. Paul's new book "End the Fed", both autographed by Dr. Paul himself. And if Virginia collects the most signatures (as a percentage of the population), we'll win a $1,500 gift certificate to the Campaign for Liberty store. But the greatest reward for all our efforts would be an audit of the Fed. And it is going to happen, if we all act now! Yours in liberty, -- Donna Holt Interim State Coordinator Campaign for Liberty

Audit the Fed Rally September 15, 2009 Senator Mark Warner's District Office In addition to our $11 trillion national debt, Congress, the Treasury Department, and the Federal Reserve have put us on the hook for almost $10 trillion in bailouts and loans. The Federal Reserve, the unelected central bank of the U.S., refuses to fully disclose its operations and agreements to Congress, including details of its deals with foreign central banks and governments. To end this secrecy and deliver answers to the American people, Senator Sanders Bernard has introduced S 604, the Federal Reserve Sunshine Act of 2009. S604 will:

REAL ID ACTION ALERT: The Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs will be having hearings on the PASS Act S. 1261. The PASS Act WILL NOT REPEAL REAL ID as it is being billed. It will only repeal certain portions like Title ii and in the end be worse than REAL ID once the PASS Act is inserted. REAL ID will REMAIN Federal law and will be stronger than before if passed. Both the ACLU and the ACLJ are opposing the Real ID Act and the PASS Act. (The ACLU and the ACLJ are the most prominent legal organizations on the "left" and "right" respectively.) Special interests groups are trying to force Democrats, Independents and Republicans to support this legislation. States have been and are working to ensure driver's licenses are secure documents and have document integrity. The federal government, in spite of the states, wants to set international standards that are not needed. The federal government wants control of your state driver's license. The federal government is bribing states to go along with its plans. Our freedom and our rights are not for sale. Some governors want to take the bribe money. The First, Fourth and Tenth Amendments are under attack. The Second Amendment will follow. This is not a partisan issue. All Americans must take action now.
The Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs will be considering the legislation very soon. The committee members and their phone numbers are listed below. Ask your neighbors, friends, co-workers, relatives and everyone else you have contact with to make the calls as well. 16 CALLS, 16 MINUTES, FOR YOUR FREEDOM AND FUTURE GENERATIONS FREEDOM.

Sen. Inhofe discusses the Cap-and-Trade legislation that passed in the U.S. House and the EPA's secret document on greenhouse gases. The EPA is perpetrating a fraud by burying this important study.

Congratulations, C4L Patriots! Not only are there now 242 co-sponsors for HR1207, but we turned up the heat and Eric Cantor felt it. He signed on as a co-sponsor Tuesday, June 23, 2009. The following six Virginia Congressmen are still holding out: Rep. Glenn C. Nye (VA-2)
Call your representative who has not dsigned on today and demand that he co-sponsor HR1207. Suggested script: Dear Congressman ________________, I want you to join your colleagues in Virginia CD1, CD4, CD5, CD6, CD7, CD10 and 236 other representatives across the country in co-sponsoring and supporting the Federal Reserve Transparency Act, H.R. 1207. Since 1913, our dollar has lost more than 95% of its purchasing power. HR 1207 amends section 714 of Title 31 of the U.S. Code to remove the restrictions on how the Government Accountability Office (GAO) can audit the Federal Reserve. With these limitations gone, the Fed's discount window operations, funding facilities, open market operations, and agreements with foreign central banks and governments would all finally be open to congressional oversight. The GAO would be required to audit the Fed by the end of 2010 and to report its findings to Congress. Sincerely,
3) Sign the petition and ask all your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers to sign, too.
Even if you've contacted your representatives before, do so again. We can't let up now.

Dear Friends of Liberty, I have exciting news. One of our own 11th Region, Fairfax County, local coordinators,Matt Cholko, announced (see announcement below) that he will run for office in his Virginia House District. Please do all you can to support Matt and help with his campaign. We wish him great success as we closely follow his campaign.
Donna Holt Interim State Cooedinator
I am writing today with an exciting announcement. I will be on the ballot, as a Libertarian, for the Virginia House of Delegates this year! I'm in the 39th district, taking on a 9 term Democratic incumbent and an unknown Republican. As you know, running in a third party is no easy task, but I believe we can do well, and we can make a real difference in the political process. Of course, to do so, we'll need lots of help from you. Please visit my campaign website at www.mattcholko.com. From there you can sign up for e-mail updates, offer to volunteer, and/or make a donation. I know that money is tight for many of us right now, but please know that even a small donation can help make a big difference. From the website you can also access the campaign's Facebook page, Myspace page (coming soon), and follow us on Twitter. As you probably know, I have been involved in the liberty movement for a couple of years now. I had been drifting in this direction for many years prior, but was really pushed into action by Ron Paul's campaign. Dr. Paul's campaign inspired many of us, and I hope to be able to have a similar effect (though on a much smaller scale) here in Northern Virginia. Virginians are fed up with the status quo parties, and they deserve a real choice on election day. I will work hard to provide that choice to the voters in my district. Again though, I cannot do it without your help. Please go to www.mattcholko.com and get involved. Also, make sure to tell all of your friends to do the same. Your efforts will make a real difference in Northern Virginia politics. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns. I can be reached at 703-343-0047 or matt@mattcholko.com. My contact info, as well as that of my campaign staff, can be found on the website as well. I'm looking forward to an exciting campaign season. Please come be part of it. Thank you in advance for your support. In Liberty, Matt Cholko

Dear Friends of Liberty,
There are now 222 co-sponsors for HR1207. There are still only five (5) Virginia Congressman co-sponsoring the bill. We need to get on the phones and turn up the pressure. Rep. Frank Wolf (VA-10) has co-sponsored the bill.
The following six Virginia Congressmen are still holding out:
Call your Congressman who has not yet signed on to the bill today and DEMAND that he co-sponsor HR1207. Suggested script: Dear Congressman ________________, I want you to join your colleagues in Virginia CD1, CD4, CD5, CD6, and 205 other representatives across the country in co-sponsoring and supporting the Federal Reserve Transparency Act, H.R. 1207. Dear Friends of Liberty, For decades we've watched idly while our liberties have been incrementally stripped away. Two years ago we heard Ron Paul's strong messages of liberty and he cured our apathy and felt as we do, that government was exceeding their authority. He gave us hope when there was none so we joined in the fight, shoulder to shoulder, heart and soul, to regain our freedom and get Dr. Paul elected as our President. We may have lost that battle but we have not lost the war. We are the legacy of that campaign and through Campaign for Liberty we have won many battles and achieved much success. But we have a long way to go and it won't be easy . To win the war against tyranny, it will take each and every one of us and many, many more. Now the question is... How much are you willing to sacrifice for liberty? Do you value your freedom enough to be willing to give... the time it takes for two coffee breaks a week... the time it takes to watch one thirty minute sitcom a week... the time it takes to blog or debate an issue with like-minded patriots once a week... That's the time it takes to arm yourself with the tools to become a leader, educate a neighbor, a friend, a member of your church, or a co-worker on the powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution and to lobby your representative on an important issue. Every good warrior knows the strength is in the numbers and the fact is that we have too few soldiers. We have a duty to ourselves, our children, and the future of this country to do ALL that we can to reclaim our Republic and restore the Constitution. It's up to us. It won't magically happen without us. No General would be naive to think he could win a war without a sufficient number of troops. I am asking you now to please join the ranks of this peaceful Revolution to win the war against tyranny. Campaign for Liberty offers many great tools to arm ourselves for the battles ahead. If you are a regular member, pay the $35 annual dues and become a local coordinator. If you are a dues-paying member, please complete the enrollment process to become a local coordinator. If you are a local, county, or regional coordinator, please nominate others you feel are capable to lead in your county or region as a local, county or regional coordinator. If you are a member, encourage at least one other person to become a member also. We currently have 51 local coordinators which is up from 15 since November of 2009, but still far from reaching our goal of 255 local coordinators by October 1, 2009. I have been in the trenches fighting for liberty with most of you for a couple of years now. Let's not give up when we are winning so many victories. We are making an impact on Virginia politics. Imagine how much greater that impact can be if you will just take the few short minutes a day, 30 minutes a week, two hours a month to go back into the trenches with your fellow patriots and fulfill the legacy of Congressman Paul's Campaign. He often said his campaign was not about winning the election. It was about starting a movement! It was about starting a R3VOLUTION!!! Together we can and will win the Revolution!!! Yours in liberty,

Dear Virginia Patriots,
There is still much work to do. 1) Please take the time to thank the four Congressman who have taken a stand against the shameful mismanagement of taxpayer money. Rep. Robert J. Wittman (VA-1) Suggested script: Dear Congressman ________________, Thank you for recognizing the necessity of the Federal Reserve transparency and accountability to the American taxpayers by co-sponsoring HR1207. Passage of this legislation would mean that the Fed's discount window operations, funding facilities, open market operations, and agreements with foreign central banks and governments would all finally be open to congressional oversight. The GAO would be required to audit the Fed by the end of 2010 and to report its findings to Congress. I ask that you please encourage your colleagues in Congress to join you by signing on. Sincerely,

Continued Action and Thoughts on how to Stop Dangerous ID I encourage you to continue to call the Real ID Act Dangerous ID for the same reasons you would not call the Bailout Bill a Rescue Bill. There is hope that Governor Kaine will sign Virginia’s Stop Dangerous ID Legislation to prevent the implementation of the Real ID Act of 2005 that will turn our Virginia driver's license into United Nations ID card. But Governor Kaine requested funds to implement Dangerous ID. Our assumption MUST be that this is still his position until he PROVES otherwise. Governor Kaine is NOT running for office again so the best way to pressure him RIGHT now is to put the heat on the politicians who are running again – especially the Delegates because they are up for re-election THIS year, while the Senate is not up until 2011. Politicians are fickle. Just because Obama and his new Secretary of DHS opposed Dangerous ID at one point does not mean we can trust them to do so now. Politicians are notorious for opposing something that the other party promoted until they are in power. We must remain active and vigilant. We must NOT take the risk of assuming we have won. The biggest thing in our favor is that there has been virtually NO organized opposition, while a coalition of 11 groups from far left to far right have opposed Dangerous ID. There have been two prongs to this fight from the beginning and it is critical that we maintain pressure on the both. On offense we supported Bob Marshall's HB 1587 to opt Virginia out of Dangerous ID. I never supported Ken Cuccinelli’s approach to Dangerous ID which was to offer a watered down compromised implementation bill until he realized that there was NO support for that and switched to Bob Marshall’s approach. Bob Marshall was the one who got it right and got it right early on. And boatloads of thanks go to Donna Holt for her relentless hard work on behalf of our cause. On defense we need to continue to support Delegate Clay Athey and Senator Jill Holtzman's budget amendments deleting Governor's Kaine's request to fund Dangerous ID. You should call Delegate Athey and Senator Vogel and thank them for sponsoring those budget amendments. They offered those amendments early on. Call your Senators and Delegates and tell them you have taken the Patriots Pledge not to support any politician who votes for any funding in ANY budget to implement Dangerous ID. Ask them to support Senator Vogel and Delegate Athey’s budget amendments. We need those budget amendments to keep bureaucrats from continuing to implement Dangerous ID through the back door. There will be plenty of time to focus on the Governor but until we have a final bill approved in final form by both the House and the Senate we need to continue to mobilize RIGHT now. Politicians want to know if we are going to go away. We can’t. So don’t. For Liberty Mike McHugh Virginia Interim State Coordinator Campaign for Liberty Tags: |
