Had a great day at the Shriner's Gun Show Today. Great to see everyone who came out, Good work spreading the good constitutional news!

Between the Libertarian Partiers, Constitutional Defender, Candidate for Tn Gov. Joe Kirkpatrick (not an endorsement), a lil Oath-keepers information and Us, We had that show on a constitutional law "lock down". As always we handed out as many CfL Declaration/Bill of Rights sheets as would be taken, engaged everyone, and gave Constitutions to the young people.

We entered into most conversations with constitutional perspectives on current issues and freedom, and had many lively interactions. Of course all the while facilitating education, with key books, literature and information available or on display.

All in all, another great show.

A special thanks goes out to Dan Rawls and Michael Scallia, keep up the amazing jobs guys!

This month's meeting will be another fun and interactive one. Issues on the table will be numerous, of which will be a local focus and highly informative. Metro Government, County Sheriffs, Sound Money and protect your Finances, Constitutional Approaches, ect.

We are actively involved in making the LiberTea Debate, Jan. 30th, a bastion of American Freedom and a clear message to our congress.

Americans are now enduring tyranny equal to or greater than what
the colonialist received from the King.  Our courts are corrupt, enforcement of
our great Constitution is selective at best, and the legislatures are spending
us into bankruptcy.  However, our founding fathers fought tyranny and prevailed
and so will we.

        A personal passion of mine is restoring our lost right to
travel free of restrictions.  We have the natural unalienable right to travel intrastate just as we
do between the states, regardless of the states' wanton disregard for this
right. Because  the state has called our right to travel a privilege, we are now  facing draconian national ID legislation through Real ID and
the Pass Act.

        But our fight against excessive government is making progress.  For the first time since the war between the states, we are
seeing the  states buck the federal government, enacting legislation that points  the way to a return of supreme sovereignty to the individual.  I want Congressional investigations into whether  the 14th, 16th and 17th amendments were ever Constitutionally ratified.

We  cannot let down our guard.  We must remain diligent.  We must continue  to take the fight for individual freedoms to those who wish to take  ours away.  Accountability for all levels

While your at it Laughing, pay your local sheriff's office a visit and see if he takes his oath of office seriously.

Impress upon your sheriff how we depend on his office to have the final authority to trump Federal abuses of power like home invasion, forfeitures, etc. without due process.

Yes, he has that power.

Why is Senator "Bailout Bob" Corker against monetary transparency?



Senator "Bailout Bob" Corker has introduced a bill to audit the Federal Reserve. At first glance this might seem like a step in the right direction, except that he is behind the curve because there is already a bill in the US Senate to audit the Federal Reserve. It's called The Federal Reserve Sunshine Act of 2009 or S604. Its counterpart is HR1207 which already has significant grassroots and Congressional support with 303 and 30 sponsors in the House and Senate respectively.


What is wrong with simply co-sponsoring the pre-existing S604 bill that calls for a full audit of the Federal Reserve system?


The bill that Senator "Bailout Bob" Corker has introduced is a watered down and neutered version of S604. His bill allows for an audit of TARP and other bailouts (which by the way he voted for) but unlike S604 his bill does not allow for a full audit of the Federal Reserve, particularly it's inflation of the money supply or its agreements with other foreign central banks. The value of our currency is at the hands of the Federal Reserve and to turn a blind eye to what the Fed is doing under the cover of secrecy and darkness is both irresponsible and dangerous.


So the question becomes why Senator "Bailout Bob" Corker is so eager to compromise on an audit of the Federal Reserve? Why is Senator "Bailout Bob" Corker against monetary transparency? What's he trying to hide? Who is he trying to protect?


It is interesting to note that some of Senator "Bailout Bob" Corker's top contributors consist of PACs and employees from the following companies:

UBS/AG
Merrill Lynch
Regions Financial
First TN Bank

Also worth pointing out that the financial / insurance sector was the largest of all the sectors giving to Senator "Bailout-Bob" Corker's campaign at $3 million; again no relation to his position is implied. Yesterday I wrote a blog pointing out Representative "Zigzag Zach" Wamp's support for unionizing police, fire, and medical services across the country by cosponsoring HR413. Almost simultaneously and unbeknown to me the TN Republican Party sent out a message asking for opposition against a "big union, big labor" Democrat candidate in the 62nd district.

The State Party obviously holds the idea that "big labor and big union" candidates should be defeated. Basic logic would show that if A=B and B=C then A=C. If the TN Republican Party is asking voters to vote against "big union and big labor" candidates, and Rep "Zigzag Zach" Wamp supports federal legislation for the unionization of emergency service employees, does that mean that the TN Republican Party is de facto asking voters to also vote against Rep "Zigzag-Zach" Wamp?

Be proud and pat yourself on the back. Mr. Davis decided to Co-Sponsor HR 1207. The number of co-sponsors is now up to 290.

This is a prime example of what Campaign for Liberty is all about. It will take many brushfire patriots to bring a positive change to our City, our County, our State and our Country.

Now a more difficult challenge remains ahead of us for the Federal Reserve Transparency act. We really need support from our Senators Alexander and Corker. Nothing seems too promising so far but thats not to say that it can't be done. Call our Senators and let them know where you stand and encourage them to support the bill. Liberty is nothing without a voice.

Slowly but surely, more mainstream conservatives are criticizing the Federal Reserve.  For those of you who know Sarah Palin supporters who still think the Federal Reserve isn't an important topic, this piece from the Wall Street Journal's Alex Frangos would be a great article to forward on to them (along with a link to End the Fed).

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin fired a shot at the Federal Reserve in her coming-out speech in Hong Kong today, blaming the central bank for the current crisis and disagreeing with the idea that the Fed should have a greater role in preventing the next crisis. It was an echo of fellow Republican and Texas congressman Ron Paul, who has led the charge in Congress to perform an audit of the Federal Reserve with an eye to eventually eliminating it....

GAO: AIG May Never Pay Back Taxpayer Billions

Been holding your breath waiting for government-owned insurance giant AIG to pay back the $120.7 billion taxpayer bailout money?

You may want to exhale.

In a report issued Monday from the Government Accountability Office, AIG is making "some progress" to reorganize and get back on the path to paying back the taxpayers, but "the ultimate success of AIG's restructuring and repayment efforts remains uncertain."

F.D.I.C. May Borrow Funds From Banks

WASHINGTON - Tired of the government bailing out banks? Get ready for this: officials may soon ask banks to bail out the government.

Senior regulators say they are seriously considering a plan to have the nation's healthy banks lend billions of dollars to rescue the insurance fund that protects bank depositors. That would enable the fund, which is rapidly running out of money because of a wave of bank failures, to continue to rescue the sickest banks.

The plan, strongly supported by bankers and their lobbyists, would be a major reversal of fortune.

A hallmark of the financial crisis has been the decision by successive administrations over the last year to lend hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars to large and small banks.

So, Let me get this straight. We barrow 2.2 Trillion from the Fed Bank with interest, to bail out the banks and to give to special interest groups like Acorn. Now that we're broke, we're going to barrow money with interest on top of the interest we're already borrowed, from the banks that we gave money to because for their financial unsoundness. Is that about right? Sounds very wrong to me.

Must be some of that quantum Keynesian economics.

The following amended sovereignty bill has been submitted to a couple of state representatives.  I have added sections from our state constitution and strengthened the language.  I now encourage you to send this strengthened version to every other state representative.  If they are really serious about state sovereignty, this is what will be sent to Washington. 

I have to share a story about this.  I heard that our sovereignty bill was fashioned after the New Hampshire bill, but the strength of the bill was deleted - I have included it below.  Well, I spoke to Rep. Dan Itse, who wrote the New Hampshire bill about why theirs failed to pass.  He said it was too strong and needed a "half-measure" which would give the states a legislative step.  I've marked that half-measure below in red and thank Mr. Itse here for his quick response in helping another state when he really didn't have to.

HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 108

by One Brave Representative

A RESOLUTION to affirm Tennessee's sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States and to demand the federal government halt its practice of assuming powers and of imposing mandates upon the states for purposes not enumerated by the Constitution of the United States.

WHEREAS, the Preamble and Declaration of Rights of the Constitution of the State of Tennessee declares, "The people of the territory of the United States south of the river Ohio, having the right of admission into the General Government as a member State thereof, consistent with the Constitution of the United States, and the act of Cession of the State of North Carolina, recognizing the ordinance for the government of the territory of the United States north west of the Ohio River, by their Delegates and Representatives in Convention assembled, did on the sixth day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety-six, ordain and establish a Constitution, or form of government, and mutually agreed with each other to form themselves into a free and independent State by the name of the State of Tennessee"; and

WHEREAS, Article I, Section I of the Constitution of the State of Tennessee states, "That all power is inherent in the people, and all free governments are founded on their authority, and instituted for their peace, safety, and happiness; for the advancement of those ends they have at all times, an unalienable and indefeasible right to alter, reform, or abolish the government in such manner as they may think proper; and

WHEREAS, the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States reads as follows: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people"; and

WHEREAS, the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States assures that each sovereign State possesses rights the federal government may not usurp; and

WHEREAS, the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States defines the total scope of federal power as being that specifically granted by the Constitution of the United States and no more; and

WHEREAS, the scope of power defined by the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States means that the federal government was created by the states specifically to be an agent of the states; and

WHEREAS, today, in 2009, the States are demonstrably treated as agents of the federal government; and

WHEREAS, many powers assumed by the federal government and federal mandates are directly in violation of the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States; and

WHEREAS, Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution of the United States, states, "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government," and the Ninth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, states that "The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people."; and

WHEREAS, the United States Supreme Court has ruled in New York v. United States, 112 S. Ct. 2408 (1992), that Congress may not simply commandeer the legislative and regulatory processes of the states; and

WHEREAS, a number of proposals from previous administrations and some now pending from the present administration and from Congress may further violate the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Tennessee; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we hereby affirm Tennessee's the sovereignty of the State of Tennessee under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the Constitution of the United States. We also demand the federal government to halt and reverse its practice of assuming powers and of imposing mandates upon the States or their citizens for purposes not enumerated by the Constitution of the United States.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that mandates that are beyond the scope of these constitutionally delegated powers and that all compulsory federal legislation which directs States to comply under threat of civil or criminal penalties or sanctions or requires states to pass legislation or lose federal funding shall be prohibited or repealed.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a committee of conference and correspondence be appointed by the Speaker of the House and of the Senate, which shall have as its charge to communicate the preceding resolution to the legislatures of the several States, to assure them that this State continues in the same esteem of their friendship and to call for a joint working group between the states to enumerate the abuses of authority by the federal government and to seek repeal of the assumption of powers and the imposed mandates.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that any Act by the Congress of these United States, Executive Order of the President of the United States of America or Judicial Order by the Judicatories of the United States of America which assumes a power not delegated to the government of United States of America by the Constitution of the United States of America and which serves to diminish the liberty of the any of the several States or their citizens are unconstitutional under the Constitution of the United States of America by the government of the United States of America.  The sovereign State of Tennessee reserves the right to declare any such act void, to prohibit the enforcement of such acts and if necessary to make the enforcement of such acts a crime; furthermore, there may be some acts so egregious as to constitute a nullification of the Constitution for the United States of America.  Acts contrary to the Constitution include, but are not limited to:

I. Establishing martial law or a state of emergency within one of the States comprising the United States of America without the consent of the legislature of that State.

II. Requiring involuntary servitude, or governmental service other than a draft during a declared war, or pursuant to, or as an alternative to, incarceration after due process of law.

III. Requiring involuntary servitude or governmental service of persons under the age of 18 other than pursuant to, or as an alternative to, incarceration after due process of law.

IV. Surrendering any power delegated or not delegated to any corporation or foreign government.

V. Any act regarding religion; further limitations on freedom of political speech; or further limitations on freedom of the press.

VI. Further infringements on the right to keep and bear arms including prohibitions of type or quantity of arms or ammunition; and

That should any such act of Congress become law or Executive Order or Judicial Order be put into force, all powers previously delegated to the United States of America by the Constitution for the United States shall revert to the several States individually. Any future government of the United States of America shall require ratification of three quarters of the States seeking to form a government of the United States of America and shall not be binding upon any State not seeking to form such a government.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a certified copy of this resolution be transmitted to the President of the United States, the President of the United States Senate, the Speaker and the Clerk of the United States House of Representatives, and to each member of Tennessee's Congressional delegation.

As I sit back and watch the debate going on in this country, I have thoughts that I rarely see voiced at the town halls and on mainstream media. I go about my day to day life and I do it without any health insurance. And I'm happy about that. I can afford it, but I choose not to have it. However, according to most Democrats and our President, I must be one of those 30 million people who are desperate for this God-given right to health care in America. (I don't remember seeing that one in the Constitution, Bill of Rights, or Declaration of Independence.) As this debate roars on in Congress, few people actually take a minute to realize what the REAL problem is with health care in America and it has nothing to do with insurance companies. 

I find fault with both the Republican and Democrat arguments about health care reform because they both believe the main problem is the insurance companies, cost, and lack of access. We must reform this, we must provide that, people should have this wonderful health care in America because we have such a great system...on and on and on. But no one is really looking deeper into the problem. We have been trained to think that if you don't have health insurance, then you're basically out in a desert without water. It's financial suicide if you don't have insurance and you find out you have cancer. Why? Because doctor visits, surgery, drugs, and chemotherapy is so expensive that you literally cannot afford it unless you have insurance. And that's if your insurance company doesn't drop you when you find out what the problem is. Even just going to a basic physical exam is outrageously expensive without insurance. The days of the family doctor around the corner where you pay in cash are long gone. "Health Care" in America is now a profit game for Big Pharma and Corporations and no longer about the actual health of the people of this country. This where the real problem lies.

What is "Health Care" in America today? I prefer to call it "Sick Care". We have a system of disease management with little prevention. All you have to do is go to the mall or practically anywhere and see how sick people are. People are fat, people are mal-nourished, people are in pain, and people are dying of easily preventable diseases in the country with the "best" health care system in the world. I see those people in the motorized scooters at Wal-Mart because they are too obese to even walk around the store and I think, "How do you let yourself get to that level?". Were you eating fruits and vegetables or were you drinking a 64 oz. soda and having chicken fingers for dinner last night? It's not rocket science or some elusive answer in a piece of legislation that will fix anybody's health in this country. And it certainly isn't health insurance that will fix it. That is only the very top layer of a much bigger problem. 

In my opinion, the main reason of why people in this country are so sick is because we have been trained to not think for ourselves and not take personal responsibility for our own lives which includes our health. We have a medical system that only focuses on symptoms rather than the actual problem. We have a pharmaceutical industry that focuses on profits at whatever cost. We have a flawed and inaccurate food and nutrition system in our schools and people are misinformed. Otherwise, my grandfather should still be alive today. As someone who has worked in the alternative health industry and having a mother who is a nutritionist and a registered dietician, I know what real health care is...now. I grew up going to the doctor, getting my shots, taking medicine when I was sick, even had some minor surgery. However, I couldn't understood why I never received any real advice on how to prevent that seasonal cold or even a major disease? I felt helpless and confused at why we have these supposedly great hospitals, medical colleges, and wonderful drugs but yet we still don't have a "cure" for what kills people the most. I watched my grandfather wither away from cancer, diabetes, and heart disease and did not understand what went wrong. My mother had the same reaction, but at a much deeper level. As a registered dietician, she was trained to work with people on their diets to get them back to health. However, she constantly saw patients die or continue to be sick with little or no improvement. It frustrated her to the point that she quit working at the hospital after my grandfather's death and started on a search for real health. In the process, she and I both figured out what that really was. 

People do not realize that being healthy is so simple and inexpensive. It has nothing to do with health insurance, drugs, or doctors. Finding true health is like stumbling onto something that was right in front of your face the whole time. I have had many revelations since opening my mind to realize that no one is out there to make sure I'm healthy. It's my choice. And that is what is so great about America - we have lots of choices. It's not some magical secret that eating fruits and vegetables is healthy for you and will practically cure any disease out there. (Yes, cancer can be cured by vegetables. Put that in your pipe and smoke it, FDA.) I can't tell you the last time I actually went to a doctor and got a prescription for something. It's a hassle, it's expensive, and it doesn't make me better. Taking raw garlic does more good than any anti-biotic and it's cheap. So why don't people know about this kind of stuff? Because the FDA has laws AGAINST basic freedoms of speech for supplement and herb companies and purposefully stifles the truth from getting out for fear of the pharmaceutical companies losing profit to a basic plant. (Now is the time to look up Ron Paul's bills that will reverse just that and make real health knowledge legal again.) I wanted to be in control of my own health because I saw the attitude of the medical industry is no longer about true care, but profits. I'm not about to succumb to the diseases that plague our nation and be another statistic of the sick care industry in this country. That is my choice as an American. 

Congress and the President can have all the debates and speeches they want, but they are not the ones that will decide if you will be truly healthy. If a bill passes that puts nationalized medicine on the map in America, people will not get any healthier. At best, what will happen is more people will have access to a system that doesn't work. So, line up for those government swine flu shots and take your chances! Or, change your philosophy about what health care really is. That is the only way to cure this nation. That is why at age 25, I am healthy and happily without health insurance. I don't need it!

The MTSU YAL and Rutherford County TN Campaign for Liberty delivered 233 HR1207 pettions to Rep. Bart Gordon's (D) office in early August.  MTSU YAL president Stephen Parvin read a blow striking letter before the delivery outside of Gordon's office.  Rep. Gordon has yet to respond to our petitions although when Gordon expressed that he had not yet considered the bill after being questioned by Stephen at a town hall meeting the week following the petition delivery, Stephen handed him a copy of HR1207 along with the current law just in case he happened to loose track of it again.

In an interview released today by Digg and the Wall Street Journal, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner was pressured about the growing popular movement to Audit the Fed spearheaded by Texas Congressman Ron Paul. A visibly uncomfortable Geithner attempts to dismiss the question by stating "I'm sure people understand that you want to keep politics out of monetary policy." When Geithner is again pressed on the issue, he makes the stunning assertion that conducting an audit of the Federal Reserve—something never before done in its 96 year history—is a "line that we don't want to cross," proclaiming that such a move would be "problematic for the country." Geithner's response that auditing the Fed would give politicians dangerous control over American monetary policy is mistaken at best and a deliberate lie at worst. Allowing the public to know what happened to their $24 trillion in bailout money does not give undue control of monetary policy to the people's elected representatives. Instead, such an audit would finally allow the public to see how their money has been spent in the midst of the largest spending binge in the history of the world's economy, hardly an unreasonable demand given the well-documented revolving door between the Treasury and Goldman Sachs, the main recipient of bailout funds. Ultimately, the Treasury Secretary is left spewing the absurdity that "I think even the sponsor of that bill recognizes how important it is to us to have the Fed independent of politics," which can only be said to be true insofar as Ron Paul—the sponsor of House Resolution (HR) 1207— wants to abolish the Federal Reserve system altogether.

That the Wall Street Journal would even pressure the Treasury Secretary on serious issues like the Audit the Fed movement may be surprising, given that the Wall Street Journal is a mouthpiece of the financial oligarchy and that editor Paul Gigot, like Geithner himself, is a Bilderberg attendee. Needless to say, this was not a typical inside-the-beltway interview. Instead, questions were submitted and voted on by the Digg community, with the top 10 questions being posed to Mr. Geithner.

As a result, the Secretary was bombarded by pointed questions about his documented tax evasion from 2001-2004, the wisdom of spending trillions of dollars in the light of long-term dollar devaluation and even, in the words of one particularly irate questioner, "Why are you running the Treasury Department?" Despite presumably having had time to prepare responses to each question well in advance, Geithner is still visibly discomfited by the entire exchange, picking at his shirt cuff and coughing nervously throughout the interview.

In one particularly telling moment, Geithner even admits "We have been forced to do just extraordinary things and, frankly, offensive things to help save the economy."

That these questions are only being asked now, almost a year into the bailout and several months after the new administration has taken office, further highlights how the controlled corporate media is doing everything in its power to keep to well-trodden and uncontroversial areas in their interviewing of key administration officials. This interview is testimony to the power of the citizen journalism movement that is attempting to hold those in power accountable for their actions. We can only hope that the Obama Administration lives up to their promise to be the "cyber" administration by allowing more such question-and-answer sessions in the future.

Today, our battle to pass Audit the Fed through the U.S. Senate has been joined. The first shot was fired on the floor of the Senate tonight by Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina.

Senator DeMint has a well-deserved reputation for taking the battle to the other side in the Senate, and tonight he once again proved why he is such a valuable ally in our fight to bring transparency and accountability to the Federal Reserve.

Occasionally, a chance comes along to take quick action on a bill, and Senator DeMint took just such an opportunity.

A little while ago, the Senate voted to pass HR 2918, the Legislative Branch Appropriations Act. This $3.1 billion bill contains, among many other things, provisions for GAO audits on certain agencies.

With this in mind, Senator DeMint attached the full text of S 604, the Senate version of Ron Paul's Audit the Fed bill, to HR 2918 as Senate Amendment 1367 before it was considered for final passage.

However, Senate Democrats refused to even allow a vote on the amendment! Instead of giving it a chance to stand before the Senate, they swept it under the rug with a parliamentary tactic.

After Senator DeMint brought Audit the Fed to the floor, Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska raised a "point of order" to prevent a vote, claiming that the amendment violated Senate Rule 16 by "legislating" on an appropriations bill. The Senate president agreed, and the amendment was shot down.

Senator DeMint did not back down, though, and directly challenged Senate leadership by pointing out the other GAO audits contained in the bill. As Senator DeMint listed them off, the Senate president was forced to agree with Senator DeMint that each one he described, all of which would be left in for final passage, also violated Senate Rule 16.

So the issue wasn't about "legislating" on the bill or violating the Senate Rules (which is commonly done), it was about preventing a thorough audit of the Federal Reserve for the first time in its history!

Senate leadership is hoping this issue will just fade away so they can get on to what they deem to be more important business, like dictating what kind of healthcare plan you and I can carry or passing destructive Cap-and-Trade legislation.

But the American people deserve answers on what the Fed has done with trillions of our tax dollars and what they are committing us and future generations to as part of their secret deals with foreign central banks and governments.

The leadership could have taken a crucial, historic step toward achieving such accountability today, but they turned their backs on transparency. This fight, though, is just beginning.

As Senator DeMint noted from the floor, the Audit the Fed bill has wide bipartisan support, and he rightly warned the Senate even if they delay today, they WILL have to deal with the issue on the floor.

It is up to you and me to back up Senator DeMint's words by making sure the momentum continues to build and the bill comes up for a final vote.

The rejection of the Audit amendment is just the first battle in our war. Now is the time to really put the pressure on the U.S. Senate to Audit the Fed!

Senator DeMint fired the opening salvo and showcased the hypocrisy of the Senate for allowing other GAO audits to be included in the bill while refusing to even allow a vote on Fed transparency.

Again, we're just getting started. Senator DeMint will keep fighting to pass Audit the Fed on its own or as an amendment, and we need to continue putting pressure on our senators to do everything in their power to achieve a floor vote! The Politico.com article on 6/19/09 entitled "Hill wants reins on Fed" which discusses bringing accountability and more transparency to the Federal Reserve quotes TN Senator Lamar Alexander as saying "The audit?  It's a bad idea."  He is also quoted as saying  "It's a sorry day when the Congress superimposes itself on the Fed, nosing around in monetary policy."  
 
The 3rd District of Campaign for Liberty's grassroots nonpartisan group, which places a strong emphasis on Constitutional government and individual liberties, begs to differ with Mr. Alexander.  Since Congress still has an obligation to coin money and regulate the powers thereof (Article 1, Section 8, US Constitution), they should rightfully oversee the Federal Reserve, which plays a critical role in the value of the dollar.  We support increased accountability and transparency in government and oppose such blatant support for secrecy or misinformation about the job of Congress.  We support legislation H.R.1207 (with 237 bipartisan co-sponsors including Wamp) and S.604.  How can one really oppose such commonsense legislation?

Dear Senator Alexander,

I was highly disappointed when I read your statement against auditing the federal reserve. You said, and I quote, "It's a sorry day when the Congress superimposes itself on the Fed, nosing around in monetary policy".

Well senator, it's a sad day when congress abdicates its constitutional oversight responsibility and ignores what is plainly in the constitution. The constitution says and again I quote, "Congress shall have the power to...To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;" Now it's true that congress can delegate power, but that delegation of power in NO WISE means that congress no longer has an oversight RESPONSIBILITY! Congress has oversight hearings for all sorts of things not even mentioned in the constitution, from labor disputes to steroid use in baseball. Yet when it comes to oversight in an area put strictly under your purview, you choose to shirk your responsibility and criticize those who are willing to shoulder theirs. It is a sad day indeed.

I do have hope that you will reconsider your position. You did, after all, reconsider your position on the RealID Act and bravely introduced a bill to repeal it. And maybe, just maybe, you have joined the ranks of your fellow republicans like Jim Demint who have expressed buyer's remorse over the bailout. (I wish you could have voted with Richard Shelby against it in the first place.)

But now you have a rare opportunity to get out in front of a very important issue. You can let your voice be heard in favor of transparency and fiscal responsibility. Why, for instance, did the Federal Reserve pressure Bank of America into a risky deal of acquiring Merryl Lynch and went so far as to threaten to remove top execs if they didn't go along?

That is NOT free market! It's a sad day when my senator cannot stand up to such open corruption and say "Enough is enough! You will at least have to open the books and let independent auditors see what is going on."

After all senator. It's not YOUR money that the Fed is flitting around the globe. It's not even my money. It's my children's money. It's their grandchildren's money. And as someone who cares about my future generations I demand that what the Fed does be brought into the light of day.

 Recently, the current President of the United States (POTUS) was caught on video giving a curtsy to the king of Saudi Arabia.  This caused a small stir in the media but fell quite short of the public uproar it should have created.  The current administration made a limp attempt to deny this genuflection, but the video is quite straightforward.  Perhaps a slightly deeper look at Saudi Arabia, the office of POTUS, and the American ideals of Liberty and Freedom will reveal why this incident should have been much more upsetting, and unacceptable, than apparently was the case.  This egregious faux pas is an embarrassment to all Americans around the world and should be seen as just outside as the marker of the limits of acceptable behavior for federal employees, the POTUS included.

The office of the POTUS is seen as a figurehead and symbol of America.  I am not condoning this view, just speaking of it...  As such, every move the POTUS makes is seen by the world as a move sanctified, or at least allowed, by The People.  Someone attempting to temporarily fill such a post as POTUS should be always on his/her toes concerning such actions and their interpretation.

The U.S. of A. were founded (if you think that was a typo, you have some reading to do) on the ideals of personal freedom, personal responsibility, and a loathing of all things tyrannical.  In order for humans to live in any substantial population density, we have up until now needed laws, administered by a government, to gently constrain some aspects of human nature.  A government that protected citizens from force, both foreign and domestic, while doing not much else was unheard of prior to the time of the founding.  These ideals were predicated upon a clear disdain of tyranny and all its inherent abuses.  So, almost by definition, the effective figure-head of our society, the POTUS, is obligated not to kneel/bow/genuflect to tyrants, either in person or in effigy...  There is little doubt that the governing family of Saudi Arabia is tyrannical.

The surest sign of a countries freedoms will be found in its laws...

    The Camp Jordan gun show, which ran may 30-31st in East Ridge, Tn, has come and gone. The Gun Show is our area's busiest defense swap meet, with a real community feel and a strong constitutional respect, it is a great american venue. Campaign for Liberty had a wonderful opportunity this weekend to spread the message of liberty, and the empowerment of civic activity.

     Thanks to everyone who took time out of their day to make our booths, a success! I think it is very evident that a weekly community update will be needed! A huge amount of thanks goes to Rick Beecher who donated a table to the Campaign. I must say as well, that he ran a John Birch Society table next to us, and we both had a great weekend. Handed out, easily, was 250+ copies of the Bill of Rights, and CfL pamphlets, and we took in a small amount of donations.

     Our mission is to promote and defend the great American principles of individual liberty, constitutional government, sound money, free markets, and a noninterventionist foreign policy, by means of educational and political activity. That is why the Campaign for Liberty was established: to highlight the neglected but common-sense principles we champion and reinsert them into the American political conversation. Our country is ailing.  That is the bad news.  The good news is that the remedy is so simple and attractive: a return to the principles our Founders taught us.  Respect for the Constitution, the rule of law, individual liberty, sound money, and a noninterventionist foreign policy constitute the foundation of the Campaign for Liberty.

This was a great week for Liberty in Hamilton County... I want to thank, Jeff Stiles at WGOW, with the "Fred the Show" program, interviewed local Campaign for Liberty members, Brent Stott, Eric McGaffic, and myself. Brent was the "go to" guy with this, who made it possible. This weekend is the Camp Jordan Gun Show, where we will have a booth, volunteers are appreciated and if you want to bring any materials to hand out, anything would be a good addition. Contact me if you can help, or share any ideas.

Ok folks,

Time to put the boots on the ground. Everyone should have heard of the Bonnaroo Music Festival by know, if not you may remember Woodstock. Same gig, different time and place. We are looking for volunteers to help collect signatures for  HR1207 at the 3 day event. Yes 3 day event. It is expecteced to be rediculously hot, so be prepared. Imagine the most brutal elements in the south(heat mostly) with the smell of patchouli oil. (no offense) It could be bad.

I say all this because I dont want anyone coming with any other expectations of comfort. For those of you that want to help but stay in a hotel, there is one in Manchester.

TNC4L has secuerd all 37 PRIMITIVE campsites at the Old Stone Fort state park in Manchester. The campgrounds fee is 4$ a night to camp or 5$ to camp and shower. We are going to recommend spending the extra buck. We will use the camp grounds as a rally point/ drop off point. We are looking for people to shuttle volunteers around the venue and other points of interest in there personal vehicles.

I cant stress the importance of hydrating for this event. Start your hydrating 24 hours in advance and bring plenty of water bottles.

Now for the good stuff,

Bonnaroo is taking place right in the middle of a democratic stronghold in the state. Lincoln Davis represents D4 and Bart Gordon represents D6. Both of whom have not yet reached out and accpeted true transparency by showing support for HR1207. We would love to march down to both of their offices Tuesday morning with thousands of signatures from people in their own districts. This can send a powerful message. I believe it will help Davis and Gordon both realize what the expectations are from the people of this great state.

The Republican Bellevue Breakfast Club will host Matt Collins as their guest speaker in the month of June. Come out, show your support, mingle, ask questions, and network with others. It isn't often that we get to talk ideas and issues without being primarily focused on strategy. This is the perfect venue to do just that.


BACKGROUND:
Matt was instrumental in the Ron Paul 2008 campaign here in Tennessee. Matt is the Davidson County (Nashville) Republican Party Vice Chair, the Republican Liberty Caucus of TN Vice Chair, Ron Paul's Campaign for Liberty Davidson County Coordinator, and a talk radio producer at Supertalk 99.7 WTN.

On Tuesday April 28th, a group of about twenty CFL members met at Representative Bart Gordon's office to deliver petitions and urge him to cosponsor H.R. 1207. Surprisingly, The Daily News Journal was there and interviewed two members of our group. Rep. Gordon still has not cosponsored H.R. 1207. However, gave a public statement, saying he would give the bill a look.. This is a step in the right direction, considering he has been ignoring others and myself.  "I appreciate that my constituents came to my (Murfreesboro) office and voiced their concerns," Gordon said. "Hearing from them helps me better represent Middle Tennessee and make decisions. I am going to take HR 1207 under further consideration and make a decision about whether or not to support it. Our country is currently experiencing an economic recession, and I am focused on working with my colleagues in a bipartisan way to lessen the struggles and reverse this downturn."

We must keep the pressure on. Get as many petitions as you can. Upcoming gun shows and the University are great places to get petitions signed. Call his office. Get others to call his office. Make him think it would be political suicide not to cosponsor this bill. In fact, when enough people learn the truth, it will be.

I want to gauge interest in creating a technology support group for the 5th District in Tennessee - in essence, I wanted to be able to assist individuals interested in furthering the Campaign for Liberty grassroots activism by increasing the capabilities of its' members in use of technology.

I attended the end-the-fed rally last weekend here in Nashville, and one of the gentlemens there mentioned that we need to use these tools--and I agree! Only a handful of people said yes/maybe on that RSVP, but there were many more that actually showed up to the event. This to me tells me that there was a good section of the people who were not using the technology available to them.

It should not be a question of possibility any longer: technology has a vast impact on the media clout, a section of our life that has been generally organized by corporations with interests profiteering from a consumption based society. The Campaign for Liberty has a facebook page, a twitter account, and this webpage for each one of us to use.

I think that for our district to be effective, though this could be said from the smallest voting precinct to the largest State in the Union, we're going to need to fully participate in the technological movement of our era. If we can do this efficiently it will allow each individual to quickly participate, maintaning the premium that is personal and private time. It will also give us the opportunity to test the new age of wikinomics, the hive-mind community mentality, and other philosophies which are currently being applied under the wide net the social world of technology has created.

To that extent, I wanted to check on how many capable hands were in the 5th District of TN that are willing to:

1) Help others setup internet connections, either at home, in mobile devices, or at local libraries, and explain basic internet usage. This includes cleaning up computers too bogged down by software/virus/spyware to be easy to use for checking the news every day.

2) Help setup others with common tools such as, email, news readers, anti-virus, firewall, firefox w/ no script, add block plus, twitterfox, facebook toolbar, video/youtube, skype/iptelephony, calendars/task managers, blogs, flickr/picasa, et. al, and educate on the use of these tools.

3) Organize Campaign for Liberty subscriptions in these tools.

4) Educate on basics to advanced computing skills to assist the Campaign for Liberty, from "Windows How-To" to "Linux Distributed Computing", and verything in between.

Obviously the Campaign for Liberty has a voice, this support group would only seek to standardize the methods by which the people of the 5th District of TN can assist each other, through a technological 'coming together' for the work that the Campaign for Liberty demonstrates online. If we're successful in this endeavour, perhaps it's something that'll be taken to other districts, because as any community: we're only as strong as our weakest link--and technology is the new tool of our times, one that makes us more capable humans.

I would like to present an argument as to why HB1961 (Shipley) and SB2073 (Southerland) present a threat to our rights protected by the 4th Amendment.  Apparently there are Jihadist training camps here in Tennessee.  Check out this article for the background.  I certainly don't want anything to happen here and I don't want to be labeled as someone who doesn't love their country.  But I believe we have the laws and procedures in place to take care of this issue.  Now I want to challenge you to think about it.

The Patriot Act has a "sneak and peek" clause that allows the FBI to get approval for secret searches without showing evidence or human lives are in danger (the provision that has allowed no-notice searches in past).  This provision isn't limited to terrorist crimes. 

The Patriot Act also expanded the authority of FISA(Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) with its secret court.  This allows federal agents to conduct secret wiretapping of anyone.  And the subject of the wiretap will never really know they were searched.  The purpose of FISA is intelligence gathering which can then show probable cause.  The target only has to be an agent of a foreign power.  Here is a case where it was ruled unconstitutional: http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/law/09/26/patriot.act/index.html  Why was it ruled unconstitutional?  It was applied to citizens.

On to the NSA.  Remember the AT&T employee that blew the whistle that the NSA had a secret room where they performed a dragnet of all phone calls?  Remember Bush put the clamp down on that and refused to let AT&T be liable?  Do you think that program went away?  http://news.cnet.com/8301-10784_3-6058346-7.html

We now know that Homeland Security is operating "fusion centers" across the country.  One such center published the MIACreport that named supporters of Ron Paul, Bob Barr, and Chuck Baldwin, members of Campaign for Liberty, the Libertarians, and others as possible militia members that should be approached with caution.  What that report did was label you and me as domestic terrorists.

  Why are they spending their time worrying about peaceful dissenters as opposed to a group of foreign militants? 

What does that mean if they label us a terrorist merely for our constitutional right to redress our government?  Well, according to the Military Commissions Act of 2006, you are considered and "enemy combatant" whether foreign or American.  In these cases the MCA cancels habeus corpus. As an aside, here is an article about the John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007. http://www.towardfreedom.com/home/content/view/911/This gives the President the power to declare martial law without authorization from Congress, a state governor or its legislature for the purpose of suppressing public disorder.  There is also some discussion in here about our de-facto loss of posse comitatus.

I guess I can go on with this, but that's enough of that for now.  Let me pose a scenario.  Say I'm a Campaign for Liberty member that has the desire to run for some local office - let's say state rep.  "Reasonable suspicion" allows a power hungry politician to have me investigated at a whim, drags my name through the mud, and possibly gets me jailed until I can be cleared.  In the meantime, your life is ruined.  Loose scenario, but that possibility is there and I believe is one of the very reasons the 4th Amendment is in place. 

Let me pose some more questions.  If this is a Jihadist organization, are you telling me the entire investigation has been left to the local police?  Homeland Security, NSA, CIA, FBI, ICE aren't involved in any way?  It seems to me all the legislation I've just discussed is already in place for just this sort of thing.  That is what I understand it's for.  Now you're telling me we have to change the probable cause statement to be able to catch the terrorists - a statement that comes directly from the 4th Amendment? 

So you can see I've thought this out.  And I by no means want to tie the hands of our police from doing their job, but we can never give up our liberties for security.  Ben Franklin wrote, "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."  We have to be careful.  Our elected officials are as fallible as we are.  We have to call them out when we think it necessary.  I would say Mr. Shipley and Mr. Southerland think they are doing the right thing to protect the people of Tennessee, but we can't accept that protection at the cost of our freedoms.

My response to this article - TN legislature approves guns where alcohol is served:

It's great that the government has been so kind as to tell us when the 2nd Amendment applies and when it does not

The right to bear arms is NOT a negtioable issue. It's a natural right that is guarenteed in the Constitution and it cannot be traded away or regulated under any circumstances (unless of course one is found guilty of using that right to infringe on the rights of another). There are too many laws on the books to still be considered a free society; the government should repeal all of the useless, reppressive, dangerous, anti-freedom, and unconstitutional laws, including those that infringe on the right to bear arms.

Lives are saved when individuals are able to defend themselves whereas lives are lost when individuals are defenseless. And anti-gun laws do nothing to deter criminals, they simply keep innocent citizens from defending themselves.

The idea that one should have to get a permit or permission from the government to be able to defend themselves is absolutely absurd. Rights don't require government approval, they are inherent. Even more absurd is the idea that the government can tell a private property owner whether they can allow firearms on their property or not. Freedom of choice means that the establishment owner can decide if they want to allow firearms and patrons can decide whether or not they want to give their business to establishments that allow firearms.

 

The TN legislature is definately on the right course with this recent action however our government needs to honor the ENTIRE Bill of Rights and all other rights within the Natural Law (as opposed to positive law).

VICTORY in Nashville!

The limited-government, paleoconservative, Constitutionalist, libertarian, Barry Goldwater, Ron Paul* Republicans can celebrate a victory! While the outcome of the Davidson County (Nashville) Republican Party election yesterday was not optimal it was still a success nonetheless.

As the Davidson County Campaign for Liberty coordinator, and Republican Liberty Caucus of TN vice chair, I was unable to win the chair of the Davidson County (Nashville) Republican Party, however I was able to solidly secure the Vice Chair position. I was also responsible for other like-minded individuals who were voted onto the Executive Committee as officers in various positions including 4 others and 4 or 5 more who are sympathetic to our cause. That gives us 5 solid seats on the DCRP Executive Committee with a potential of 10 including those who will often vote alongside us!

This is indeed a victory for those who believe in limited government. As the Vice Chair I am now the conscience of the Davidson County Republican Party and will provide balance. However I want to explain how we arrived at these results.

Sadly some in my opposition's camp employed less than honest tactics against me, which turned out to be effective. Rumors, half-truths, and even outright lies were whispered around the local Party about my character and status. This kind of underhanded behavior doesn't belong in this Party; in fact it's more characteristic of Democrats. An example is that it was told that I'm an officer in the Libertarian Party- this is of course untrue. I am a libertarian, and I am also a member of the Republican Liberty Caucus. The disinformation "FUD campaign" (look it up) capitalized on these facts by preying on delegates who were ignorant of the complete facts; some education is now in order.

Being a libertarian does not make one a member of the Libertarian Party. It's commonly called "Big L" vs "little l". In the mind of the average Republican they have not yet been brought to realize that the philosophy of libertarianism is not the same as the Libertarian Party. That would be akin to saying everyone in the Republican Party is a conservative and as many have recently learned, this is definitely not true. Also the Republican Liberty Caucus is an organization of libertarians (little l) who are dedicated to advancing the cause of limited government by working within the Republican Party. This actually fits nicely because a good deal of the Republican Party tends to be oriented towards limited government a lot of the time on a lot of the issues; it is worth noting that both Barry Goldwater and Ronald Regan were libertarian leaning if not outright libertarians.

My opponent really turned out the vote and I had a few delegates that were unable to appear. Combined with the fact that many of the delegates who were on the fence were being fed disinformation, it caused my opponent to win. The election was fair but the hit campaign against me was not and I did not realize what was happening until later in the week which did not allow enough time for me to communicate the truth to the delegates. I am not vindictive or bitter about it but I have learned there are specific individuals within the Davidson County Republican Party that I can not trust and will not associate with. And honestly I didn't want the job anyway, I was running for the chair out of a sense of duty to fix the country by fixing the Republican Party. I can still work to achieve that goal from the position of Vice Chair and I am actually quite satisfied with the results.

It is now time to move towards these ends by recruiting, fundraising, and supporting conservative limited-government candidates for office. The DCRP has been largely ineffective and this needs to reverse course. But in order to do this our principles of limited-government conservatism must first be upheld. There are many marginal elected officials within our area that need to be voted out. And that is exactly why I decided to quit doing nothing and get involved in local politics. It is not good enough to read, write, complain about politics and then only show up to the voting booth. If one really wants to have an effect within the political system they must get involved within that system to the fullest extent possible; anything less is apathy.

I urge each and every individual who is not happy with the way our government is operating, or who is disapointed with the way the Republican Party has been behaving, to go to their local meetings and run for a position so that the status-quo is not maintained. I have just proven that it is possible to have a significant effect on local politics. I'm a political nobody, I have essentially zero experience other than volunteering for the Ron Paul campaign- I just showed up and put out my best effort. Those of us who want less government have and will continue to exert pressure on all areas of Party and government within Nashville / Davidson County and the State of TN. Progress is being made and the liberty movement is alive and well and advancing in a forward motion at full pace. We are doing our part and if others with similar ideas of freedom, liberty, and limited government show up and do their part around the country, then we will see a paradigm shift in the American political discourse within 2 years. Who knows, it may even lead to a bloodless Revolution 


Are you doing your part or will you continue to sit back and do nothing?

 

*And for the record my efforts, and the efforts of those whom are members of the CFL or RLC, are NOT about Ron Paul -- that election has long since been over with. Our efforts are about advancing many of the ideas that Congressman Paul espoused during the 2007/2008 primary campaign which have in recent months turned out to be absolutely accurate. These ideas include limiting government at all levels, adhering to the Constitution, a humble foreign policy, sound monetary policy, fiscal conservatism, lowering or abolishing taxes, balanced budgets, and securing individual rights; ideas that could've led to a Republican victory in 2008, which this first report and this second report assert.

I live in Tennessee's 5th district, Susan Lynn is my representative in the state house, and my past experience is that she is an 'actual' conservative (rare in the Republican party these days). We're lucky to have her.

I wanted to express my support for two bills that have been recently introduced HJR 104 and HJR 108. The bills are similar in their calls for affirming their 10th amendment rights. However, the text needs to be strengthened. Note the highlighted portion of the text I copied from the relevant bill. 'Should be' makes it no more than a complaint ("wishing in one hand and..." you know the rest). Still, It's a good baby-step.

Below, is a copy of the email I sent my representative asking her to support the bills. Perhaps it will be of value to others.

Dear Representative Lynn,

Please support HJR 108 & HJR 104. This is an important step in the process of reclaiming the liberty we've lost incrementally since the passage of the 14th & 17th amendments.

I'm sure you are aware of them both. However, for the sake of completeness, here's a link to a pdf of each:

For my own part, I would prefer that HJR 108 be merged into HJR 104 and the language of HJR 104 be strengthened somewhat, and that it [HJR 104] be given "teeth."

The relevant text, of 104, as written states:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that mandates that are beyond the scope of these constitutionally delegated powers and that all compulsory federal legislation which directs states to comply under threat of civil or criminal penalties or sanctions or requires states to pass legislation or lose federal funding should be prohibited or repealed.

This is merely stating the obvious, and belongs in the "WHEREAS" section.

Don't complain about the long train of abuses if you aren't prepared to throw down the gauntlet and answer the national authority's predictable response (i.e. "so what, now sit down, shut up and do what we told you to do.")
