Albany, NY - Oct 23, 2009. NYS State Health Commisioner Dr. Richard Daines has suspended the controversial mandatory influenza immunization requirement for New York health care workers, citing a shortage of vaccine supplies as the main reason. The halt in the regulation also comes a day after popular upstate NY WGY radio personality Al Roney exposed the connection of Linda Daines, Commissioner Daines's wife, as a manager of private client services of Wall Street finance firm Goldman Sachs. Goldman Sachs was the largest shareholder and brokered a 2007 $15 billion sale of the vaccine giant MedImmune. Roney called upon his listeners to contact NY State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo to open an investigation of a potential conflict of interest between the mandatory vaccine regulation for over 500,000 NY healthcare workers and potential profit for Goldman Sachs.

"It is absolutely a legitimate question for the NY Attorney General to consider whether Commissioner Daines should have recuse himself on this decision, considering the possible conflict of interest and the massive profits to be generated by Goldman Sachs with such a decision, whether the regulation was done for the best intentions or not" said WGY's Al Roney.

Controversy arose with the August announcement of the mandatory vaccine immunization for all NYS health care workers, the only state forcing such regulations. Rallies across the state were held by nurses against the regulation, and unions such as PEF and the NYCLU publicly renounced the decision. Two pending lawsuits challenging the authority of the Commissioner will continue to be held in court next week, with NY Supreme Court Justice McNamara imposing a temporary injunction against the mandatory regulation last week.

HEALTHCARE WORKERS TO RALLY FOR NO FORCED VACCINATIONS

New York healthcare workers and health freedom civil rights advocates are planning a rally at the State Capitol in Albany NY on Tuesday, September 29th to protest the new regulations mandating that all healthcare workers with patient contact receive all CDC "recommended" flu vaccines... including the just licensed, un-safety tested "Swine Flu" 2009-H1N1-A. Members of Campaign for Liberty are taking an active role in this rally.

If you are a New Yorker, please go to:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NY-Vaccine-Strategy-Forum/

Dr. Gary Null and others have a meeting scheduled with the State Department of Health for 10:30 AM that day, so we need mass public support... and the word is that large numbers of healthcare workers and their supporters will be there!

The Department asked us to let them know what we wanted to discuss. This is what I wrote to them:

Gentlepeople,

I understand that the State Department of Health would like to know the concerns of the delegation scheduled to meet the Deputy Secretary of Health next Tuesday.

I've spoken with the healthcare workers and health freedom advocates involved and believe I can provide an initial expression of those concerns. I am writing as a trustee of one of the involved groups, the Natural Solutions Foundation, and exempt non-governmental organization (NGO). The medical adviser and trustee of the Foundation is a New York licensed physician who would be mandated to receive the vaccines if she were to see patients in a New York hospital. Another doctor, who will be at the Tuesday meeting, is a licensed dietitian and nutritionist in New York, subject to the same risks. Our primary concern is that the regulations mandating the flu vaccines do not comport with medical ethics or fundamental principles of law and justice.

The practice in NY has always been that the annual flu vaccine is voluntary. To change a long-standing practice upon which people rely by regulation, rather than direct legislation, is suspect at best. When the change puts people at known risk for serious adverse reactions, the government bears a serious burden that seems to be ignored here. We decry the lack of transparency and public hearings.

We are particularly concerned that the exemption section is insufficient to protect significant civil rights. Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Acts requires employers to make reasonable accommodations for employees' religious beliefs. The regulations fail to address this and we want the Department of Health to make it clear that the religious exemption is not being abrogated.

By "religious" we mean to include all sincerely held conscientious objections to vaccination that hold in an individual's belief system the same place that specific church teachings may hold in the beliefs of a member of such church. Discriminating against people based on non-church conscientious objections has never been permitted by the courts.

Additionally by providing that the mandate shall apply to all flu vaccines "recommended" by the CDC, the un-safety tested "Swine Flu" vaccines that were licensed by the FDA last week will also be mandatory. This regulatory provision surrenders the state's obligations to a federal agency and is beyond the authority of the Department.

Our message we would like the Deputy Secretary to take to the Governor is that the public outcry against this mandate is such that the Governor needs to rethink his position and needs to meet with and accommodate the sincerely held objections of the healthcare workers.

In 1905 the Supreme Court, prior to the era of Federal preemption of vaccine licensing and recommending, deferred to the states in decisions about vaccine mandates. This was the case of Jacobson v. Commonwealth of Massachusetts, 197 U.S. 11 (1905).

But that court clearly understood that there was a point beyond which no government could go in exercising the police power to mandate vaccinations. It held:

"We are not to be understood as holding that the ... judiciary would not be competent to interfere and protect the health and life of the individual ... "All laws," this court has said, "should receive a sensible construction. General terms should be so limited in their application as not to lead to injustice, oppression or absurd consequence. ... we are not inclined to hold that the statute establishes the absolute rule that an adult must be vaccinated if it be apparent or can be shown with reasonable certainty that he is not at the time a fit subject of vaccination or that vaccination, by reason of his then condition, would seriously impair his health or probably cause his death."

Here is the video:

On Tuesday, September 15th, NYC CFL dropped off roughly 3,600 petitions gathered during CFL's mass action month to the Manhattan offices of Senator's Gillibrand & Schumer.  Nearly two dozen folks turned out for the petition drop off displaying signs, passing out literature and educating the busy New Yorkers about the Fed.  Russia Today (RT) was very eager to cover the story and was mighty thankful we had invited them but I must say, Russia Today, you are they who deserve the round of applause.

When we first arrived and began handing out flyers in front of Gillibrand's office, we were asked the usual questions by security;  What are you doing here?  What organization are you with? Can you get off the property?  And so on.  When the former question was answered, "To drop off petitions we have gathered in support of Gillibrand's call for transparency in government", the guard fought for the words and ways to let us know how we couldn't do so.  I assured him that I had came down early last week to become informed of the protocol necessary to meet with our representative and we had full intentions of following those instructions to a T.

As we proceeded to the drop off point, the deliveries gate before 5p.m., a strange thing happened.  The door was closing 35 minutes early to disallow our entrance.  Silly me, I guess I volunteered too much information.  We had to physically stop the gate from closing by positioning our bodies underneath it as we pleaded with the security guards.  Obviously, these fine fellas were instructed to keep us at bay but we persisted under threat of police involvement.  After all, it is private property paid for by our tax dollars but this is besides the point.  Fortunately, the guard I received my instructions from the week prior was one of the two men just following orders and I had a chance to call him out on this matter.  A slight fumble of tongue and a steady stream of recollected memories later, we were told a small handful of us could go in through the front door.  Yes, the civilized way you radical Ron Paulers you.

We will update this thread later with a hidden camera view as this transpired.

In the End (the Fed), one of Gillibrand's staffers came down to explain why security is so high at this particular office and kindly accepted our petitions after we took him to school regarding the Fed.  The drop at Schumer's office took a mere 5 minutes which just so happens to be a block away.  A special thank you must go out to the NYC CFL group for your tenacity and dedication to this cause.  You are a true example of how liberty takes over once that flame has been ignited.

Audit the Fed!

Here is a great Wall Street Journal Article on our Audit the Fed actions.  Kudos to CFL Member Isaiah Matos for this great coverage:

At the core of a congressional push to audit the Federal Reserve are activists with a larger purpose: to abolish the central bank.

Thousands of Americans are joining protests and lobbying their lawmakers in pursuit of the ultimate goal of replacing the Fed with a money system backed by gold or other commodities.

Ron Paul photo

A movement to abolish the Fed was largely inspired by Rep. Ron Paul, left, addressing an audience about a health-care overhaul on Aug. 12, 2009.

Largely inspired by Rep. Ron Paul, the Texas Republican whose latest book, "End the Fed," will be released Wednesday, the movement draws its strength from people who want a sharp shift away from government dependency and toward a truly free-market economy.

Among the activists backing the cause is Isaiah Matos, the superintendent of a luxury high-rise building in New York City. Mr. Matos was an antiwar protester earlier this decade before he became a libertarian. Through neighborhood groups in Queens organized using Meetup.com, Mr. Matos met other Ron Paul backers who shared his distrust for the central bank and a currency backed only by a government's promise.

"I believe in a commodity-backed currency," said Mr. Matos, 30 years old. "In college, I didn't understand how we could move from gold to paper."

Update: Russia Today also did a clip with Isaiah and the NYC crew for Mass Action Audit the Fed on September 15th:

Mass Action Month

In last month's newsletter, we asked everyone to collect signatures for a combined HR 1207/ S 604 petition so we can start targetting the Senators and the remaining Representatives who have yet to sign up as co-sponsors. We collected nearly 2,000 signatures from all over the state, thank you all! Special kudos to the Columbia county crew who gathered over 500 signatures themselves!

Based on this success and the summer recess in Congress, this drive will now occur on a national wide level cummulating to a special Mass Action Day.

We are winning, but we have not won, yet! There are currently 282 co-sponsors in the House and 23 co-sponsors in the Senate. However, there are 19 remaining Representatives and both Senators in NY who have not co-sponsored yet.

With the newly announced Audit the Fed web site, our efforts have been joined by several major organizations representing millions of Americans. It will all accumulate on September 15th with a major national action (see below) and the release of Ron Paul's new book, "END THE FED."

WE NEED YOUR HELP NOW TO COLLECT 1 or 100 or 1000 PETITIONS FOR S604 and HR1207 TO MAKE THIS WORK!

GET THE PETITION HERE (Single Person)

Multi-Person PETITION*

*If you use the Multi-Person Petition, try to collect signatures from the same Congressional District/Representative per page. (Recommended)

Once you collect all the signatures (even if its one, one hundred, or one thousand), mail them to the address below. We will make copies and send the to your Regional and County Coordinators for them to hand deliver them to your Representative, and we will make copies to hand deliver all the petitions from the state to both Senators in a big rally event to be announced soon.

Mail the completed petitions by September 8th to:

Steven Vasquez
31 Burning Bush Blvd.
Ballston Lake, NY 12019

Do not wait until the last day, send them batches at a time, as it takes a lot of work to prepare all the petitions in time for the big September 15th event, where across the nation, every Senator who has not co-sponsored S604 will have a rally and petitions delivered at their regional offices.

Below are the list of sites of our major action in NY on Tuesday, September 15th at 4PM. Each rally will start at Senator Gillibrand's office to deliver the petitions, then moves to Senator Schumer's office to deliver there before 4:30PM. We need as many people at each site to make a big impression nationally! Make it to one of these cities.

Bernanke is praying that you are not going to do anything, that you are just going to sit there and let Obama give the Federal Reserve full regulatory control over the entire financial industry and print trillions of more dollars to pay for socialized health care. Well he doesn't seem to know what you or the Campaign for Liberty is capable of, does he?

Feel our wrath, fear our liberty!

Here is a flyer to pass to members of your meetups to encourage them to participate.

Dear Congressman Murphy,

I thank you for the opportunity to hear the voices of your constituents on the very important issue of socialized health care and to understand the reasoning as to why we demand that you oppose any effort to bring any version of it into law.  It is to your benefit that you read the long but detailed reasoning behind the stance, as it represents the views of the key swing vote that will decide who will represent the 20th District (or equivalent after the 2010 Census) after the 2010 election.  This key swing vote are the same voters who through the most narrow of margins voted you to office in 2008.  We are not the majority of the voters, or even a large minority of the voters.  We are the voters who do not vote "D" or "R" in every election, but pay attention to the actions, issues, and voting history of the elected officials.  We are the independents, the disenfranchised Republicans and Democrats, the politically active.  We represent the majority of the 3% + 1 that decides elections. Many of us are voters who voted against another political insider, and instead put our hopes on a business man who understands and believes in free market principles that made this country prosperous and free.  We are the ones who who do not take lightly the oath of office to obey and defend the Constitution of the United States, we are the ones who monitor it and hold our representatives accountable as the set of laws of the land that you are obligated and required to uphold.  We are the ones, who like our Founding Fathers and all those who followed them to make this a great prosperous and free country, believe in the core principles that is the foundation of America: Individualism, NOT Collectivism.  This 40 minute video playlist describes it precisely:

http://www.youtube.com/p/762921FB66B9202A&hl=en&fs=1

Take the time to read this letter and watch this video, as it articulates the principles that we will not compromise on.  We will support with full conviction any representative who obeys the Constitution and upholds these principles for which the Constitution was created under.  We will volunteer, rally for, contribute, and vote for representatives like you who will for now on stay true to their oath of office strictly.  To those representatives who compromise these principles based on special interests, party lines, back door deals, or collectivism principles, whether they are Republican or Democrat, we will use all our resources and capabilities to educate our neighbors, make it publicly heard, and work to the best of our efforts to kick them out of office.  We are not the majority, but we are the motivated, we are loud, We are The People, and we are watching.

This is a great video about Collectivism vs. individualism and the proper role of government. This destroys the left vs. right concept.

This is a great video to wake people up.

Watch it and then share it. Note: its a playlist of videos.

We had a very successful statewide March on Albany tea party of over 1,000 patriots on June 16th in protest of NYS government and the Federal Government infringing on our rights, violating their Constitutions, and the out of control deficit spending. Patriots from all over the state from various groups worked together to make this happen. We collected nearly 400 signatures for HR 1207/S604, gave out hundreds of Constitutions and CFL literature, and recruited dozens.

Congratulations everyone, my previous Congressional opponent, Congressman Paul Tonko of NY 21st District has co-sponsored HR 1207 thanks to your persistance in bringing about Transparency to the Federal Reserve!

Andrew Fox (Campaign for Liberty Regional Coordinator) and I met up with Congressman Tonko and his staff in person last Thursday, where we gave him literature, an audio CD of the Creature from Jeckyl Island from G. Edward Griffin, and talked about transparency and how many swing voters care about the Constitution. We also brought up HR 219, Ron Paul's Social Security Preservation Act, and HR 1866, Ron Paul and Barney Frank's Industrial Hemp Farm Act and the huge impact as the world's largest biomass towards bringing the US energy independent with renewable energy.

It was your phone calls, petitioning, and letters that showed that the people care about how the Federal Reserve is using your money.  This shows that a motivated loud minority can break down any barriers and succeed to what they put their minds to!

Now we need to get our other freshmen Democrat Congressman Scott Murphy (NY-20) to co-sponsor HR 1207. He ran on a promise to bring accountability and transparency to government, so this bill is important to make that happen. Once we get Congressman Murphy, then more than 70% of NY geographically will have co-sponsored HR 1207, leaving only Buffalo and Greater NYC/LI.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am proud to present you all with some tremendous news!

After weeks of lobbying with phone calls, rallies, letters, and faxes Congressman Dan Maffei (NY-25) has finally given in and become, in his own words, "a proud co-sponsor of the Federal Reserve Transparency Act, which was introduced on February 26, 2009 by Representative Ron Paul (TX-14) and referred to the Committee on Financial Services."

Congressman Maffei, a Democrat, is the first member of the House Financial in New York State to co-sponsor HR-1207. This is clearly evidence that hard work and focused political action can acheive results!

The local newspapers even took notice of our efforts, which started a few weeks ago, when several Campaign for Liberty members visited Congressman Maffei's first ever "Town Hall Meeting"

"During the town hall meeting, David Gay, a Republican who dropped out of the 25th District race, yelled at Maffei to support a bill that would authorize an audit of the Federal Reserve, which Maffei said might not be a bad idea." -Syracuse Post-Standard

Now I'm not sure that I "yelled at" him, but we sure were passionate about getting the message out there!

Like it or not, Congressman Maffei is our local representative for at least another year and a half. Since he's been so kind as to co-sponsor HR-1207, and even "name drop" Ron Paul, I think we should send him small cards or letters thanking him for his wise decision.

If you live outside of NY-25.... DON'T GIVE UP! We can win this! Just keep calling and calling and calling until your elected Rep. co-sponsors this bill!

And while you're waiting for your elected officials... EDUCATE EVERYONE YOU MEET ABOUT THE FED! Just imagine how incredible it will be once the Fed is fully audited and the American people finally see the source of economic misery...and realize the need to END THE FED!

Celebrating a Small Victory,

David Andrew Gay

Regional Coordinator - NY-25

On may 24th, at 10am, on Liberty Island, a new journey for liberty begins. Be a part of it.

The man who pedaled a bicycle across the country in 2007 for Ron Paul is getting back in the saddle to, once again, help awaken the slumbering giant. From The Statue of Liberty to Alcatraz, a route symbolizing, "America; Freedom to Fascism", he will be reaching out to County Sheriffs and other officials through a hundred counties in an attempt to build rapport, (in light of the recent DHS documents). Hoping to promote understanding of the concerns/solutions of the r3VOLution, the ride will be delivering educational materials to each official including:

1. A book by Ron Paul - The Revolution, A Manifesto (generously supplied by CfL)
2. A DVD speech by Dr. Vieira - The Powers of the Purse and Sword
3. A booklet by Sheriff Richard Mack - County Sheriff, America's Last Hope

In addition, he will be distributing heaps of r3VOLtion literature, including National/State level handouts, and as many CFL pocket constitutions/RtR Freedom To Fascism DVDs as we can afford.

If you can be there for the send off, it will make for great video. Michael will be on the island from Approx 9:30a - 10a, to say a few words, interview a few folk, have some coffee, and get ready to roll from Liberty State Park (NJ) at 11:00am. He will then pedal 57 miles to Trenton, maybe you can meet him in there, or points in between. Come down and get on the video blog.

If you cannot be there, you can still be a part of it by helping with the outreach efforts. Please email our volunteer cordinator (Roxie Collinson) at locals@libertyrider.com.

Now, the part where we ask you for some of your hard earned money. The trip, and materials, will cost around $7,000. Extra funds will give us more pocket constitutions/etc, and increase our opportunities. We will be posting all expenses (minus $50/wk "pettycash") and working transparently. Anything left in the till will be used for further efforts towards liberty. With hat in hand, we ask for your support.

Thank you.

THE EVOLUTION OF THE R3VOLUTION

Riding from The Statue of Liberty to Alcatraz, Activist Michael Maresco Symbolically Pedals his Bicycle from Freedom to Fascism

On Sunday May 24, 2009 at 11am in Liberty State Park, NJ, Bicyclist Michael Maresco will begin a 63 day - 4000 mile journey across the continental United States of America. While traversing the country on a modified WalMart Schwinn, Mr. Maresco plans to meet with Governors and County Sheriffs to discuss their vital roles in preserving citizens' liberty and a constitutionally correct Rule of Law.

"The sheriff absolutely has the power and responsibility to defend his citizens against all enemies, including those from our own Federal Government," says Michael Maresco, better known as the Ron Paul Rider and Walk for Freedom organizer. "My hope is that fellow Americans will take notice of this bike ride, with the topics being discussed, and take an honest look at the problems fast overwhelming this country."

Mr. Maresco continues, "The marriage of special interests and government has put America on a slippery slope, from Freedom into Fascism: hence, the theme of my ride."

The book The County Sheriff America's Last Hope by Sheriff Richard Mack and DVDs from the Committees Of Safety will be distributed to each County Sheriff during Mr. Maresco's scheduled meetings. Pocket constitutions and Ron Paul's The Revolution, a Manifesto have also been generously donated by the Campaign for Liberty for distribution during the 63 day - 4000 mile "Ride for Honesty".

"Designed as an outreach campaign, ‘The Ride for Honesty' is not a protest or demonstration," says Nick Ramaglia, Local Logistics Coordinator for the Ride. "In each town Michael passes through he will directly address, in an understated yet memorable way, the condition of our country and the solution to its troubles: namely, the principles of Liberty and The Constitution."

The Ride for Honesty is being funded by the grassroots. Michael will do some grueling legwork - literally! Please donate to this effort to support the Evolution of the R3VOLution.

Yesterday, we, as members of the Campaign for Liberty, were called upon by our fellow patriots across this nation to do our part in displaying public support for H.R.1207. We were asked to circulate petitions in our districts, urging our representatives to sign on as cosponsors and present the signatures to our congressman's door. This bill, "The Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009", introduced by Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX-14), seeks to allow for a full audit of the Federal Reserve. If passed, this legislation will remove the prohibitive language from Title 31, U.S. code, that prevents the GAO or Congress from having any effective oversight over the Federal Reserve. ( read the text of Ron Paul's address to congress here: http://www.ronpaul.com/2009-02-28/ron-paul-introduces-bill-to-audit-the-fed/ )

As of yesterday, it was reported that H.R.1207 had 92 cosponsors. It is very clear that this legislation has a real chance, it's sponsorship is growing steadily and includes both Republican and Democratic backing. Unfortunately for us, instead of being in a district where we could just give the office a call and say "thanks", we were required to get off our butts and do something more. Brian Higgins is not currently a cosponsor and, unless properly motivated by his constituents, we have no reason to believe he would become one all on his own. The issue of Federal Reserve transparency is a fresh issue, and by that I mean, it has not yet been absorbed wholly into a partisan stance. However, as the numbers grows, we are seeing fewer and fewer Democrats signing on (currently, only 13 cosponsors are Democrats). This, combined with the fact that it was introduced by a Republican, makes it increasing less likely for other Democrats to sign on, as this could be viewed as their political detriment. That being said, it becomes evident that we must focus our efforts even harder on our Democratic representatives. If this is allowed to become a partisan issue, it will surely fail in a legislature where both bodies are firmly controlled by the left party.

Contrary to popular opinion, congressmen do sometimes factor in the opinions of their constituents. They do (in part, at least) rely on the voters of their districts to get re-elected. How much they listen depends on many factors: will this offend the "deep pockets" that helped them campaign?, if they are blue and in a distinctly blue district, will this make them look red (and vice versa)?, what organizations (if any) are behind this? do they even agree with this legislation (in theory, this has to at least cross their mind)?, etc. . We need to be aware of this, as we put the pressure on Higgins. It is vital that we come off, not as "Ron Paul nut-balls", not as members of any party or affiliation, not as people with a greater agenda (ie. ending the Federal Reserve System entirely), but as members of the communities he represents united with just one concern: the actions of the Federal Reserve have a tremendous impact on our economy, and we wish to be able to know what those actions are.

Yesterday, that is just what we tried to do. Nine of us showed up at 2PM at the office door of Brian Higgins with hundreds of signatures. We talked with a member of his staff (as Brian was not there), giving him the gist of our concern. The short notice was the main reason for the limits of our signatories, but fret not. We probably still have a couple weeks to keep the pressure on. Sometime next week, we will meet up again and hand in a fresh batch of petitions and show his office some fresh faces. There were many that would have liked to be there, but for whatever reason with their schedule, could not be present. Those are the people I am looking for right now. It is very important that we do not send the message that this is the same few people that care, going out and getting people to sign a piece of paper just so they will be left alone. Rather, we need as many waves of fresh faces going in there as we can. I know of at least several others that will be willing to go with separate groups to the office. Please contact me if you are interested in getting involved in this effort. Don't be intimidated as to what you will be asked to do. The signatures of a few family members, getting hooked up with someone else and going around a neighborhood, simply standing there and being another silent head as the petitions are handed over, anything you want to do. Remember, these actions represent a lot more than simply backing an audit of the Federal Reserve, they are part of a "go at your own pace", "no pressure", training for getting involved and putting the control of this nation back in the hands of it's people. You may also be surprised at how fast you start making genuine ties with would-be strangers that you meet out there in this movement. That back-up that we give each other is both very encouraging and self-rewarding. As always, I encourage you to comment, as these comment threads are a good way for us to communicate with others that are visiting here.

On April 20th, Dr. Katherine Albrecht, best-selling author of Spychips and GCN Radio Talk Show host, came to Albany, NY to speak to over 500  people(completely sold out event) at a John Birch Society Talk.  Earlier that day, I sat down with Dr. Albrecht to discuss RFID, Real-ID, National ID Cards, Enhanced Driver's License, Privacy, and the Constitution.  We plan to use this video as part of our ongoing lobbying to stop the implementation of REAL-ID in the NYS legislation and the general education to the public of this intrusion of our liberties and freedom.

On April 15th, there were 700+ Tea Parties across the country.  In Albany, a group of 20 unaffiliated citizens organized along with Al Rooney, WGY Radio personality, a non-partisan Tea Party event that went viral through Facebook and brought in a crowd of over 3,000 people according to police estimates.  The 3 hour event focused on the Constitution, protesting the bailouts, and the expansion of government by the Republicans and Democrats.

Campaign for Liberty was there with a table and gave away over 500 Constitutions, 1,000 CFL flyers, 800 Freedom to Fascism DVDs, and collected hundreds of signatures for a petition for HR 1207, The Federal Reserve Transparency Act.

Campaign for Liberty members spoke at the Event:

Excellent documentary on the economic collapse of Argentina from being one of the most prosperous nations in Latin Amercia to having the wealth plundered by the government and banks like JP Morgan and Citibank. Notice the similarity between the popular, but very corrupt Menem administration and his succesor with that of Bush and Obama.

12 Part Video - Watch all of it if you can.

This is one of the best letters I found to Congress, especially for Democratic representatives.  Thanks to Robert for creating this.  You can download the HR Lobby Pack, which includes this letter in DOC format, a copy of the HR 1207 Bill, and great supplemental information found here: http://distractiblehominid.blogspot.com/2009/03/lobbying-pack-for-hr-1207-
federal.html

Dear Representative [Representative's Name Here],

I urgently seek your Support and Co-Sponsorship of H.R. 1207: The Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009.

Recently, it has come to light that the Federal Reserve is not accountable to American citizens. While we are required by law to give an accounting of every penny we come in contact with, the Federal Reserve, in contrast, can spend as it pleases without Congressional approval or oversight. In this economic crisis, we deserve an accounting of how our money is being spent-- H.R. 1207 will shed light on the Federal Reserve. President Obama pledged to bring transparency to Washington D.C., and by supporting this piece of legislation you are assisting the President in achieving this very worthy goal.

President Obama also pledged to work with both parties in order to find bi-partisan solutions to the problems facing America. H.R. 1207 currently has bi-partisan support amongst its 28 and growing co-sponsors. Your support for this legislation will demonstrate a willingness on your part to put the interests of your constituents before party loyalties.

This critical legislation is short and concise, and can be read in less than 5 minutes. I encourage you to take the time to read H.R. 1207, and then swiftly act to support it. A lack of support for H.R. 1207 suggests that you oppose the President's goals of transparency and bi-partisanship, and instead favor secrecy and division.

It should be noted that a common error among many members of Congress is that Title 12, Ch.3, Subchapter II, §248b, which orders the Board of Governors to give an annual independent audit of the Federal Reserve, provides substantive information to Congress or the public. In reality, these audits do not provide Congress with the critical information of how the Federal Reserve is handling trillions of taxpayer dollars, and we need to untie the hands of the Government Accountability Office by reforming Title 31, section 714 to allow them to conduct full, comprehensive audits.

Thank you in advance for your attention. I have every expectation that you will do right by your constituents and support this measure to bring accountability to the Federal Reserve.

Sincerely,
[Signature]

One in eight Americans, or over 40 million, were considered below the poverty line in 2007, before the current economic crisis and bailouts. The poverty level is considered an income of $19,125 for a family of four. This percentage is the highest level of poverty of any developed nation in the world.   Recently, Bloomberg reported that the original $700 billion TARP bailout for Wall Street has mushroomed to over $7 Trillion, of which over $2 trillion has already been allocated.  Some bloggers and papers correctly show that this inflation adjusted expense is more than any other expense ever, including World War II.   However, what does $7 Trillion really mean and how will this lead to millions of more Americans falling to poverty within a few years?

One way of looking at $7 Trillion is that it equates to approximately $20,000 per man, woman, and child in America.  What wonders that would do for the economy if given to the people, rather than the top 1% already owning 90% of the wealth in the country!  Unfortunately, that is the wrong way to look at it because, simply put, this money doesn't really exist.

The money from the bailout is being created out of thin air, electronically adding zeroes to accounts that are mostly artificial to begin with. To put things in perspective, if you were to go all around the world and collect every American dollar bill, of every denomination, every US coin, and every liquid security and pile them up and count them it would total about $1.5 trillion. (Source)  This is recorded by the Federal Reserve and the US Treasury under a category known as M1.  But there is obviously more money in existence than $2.3 trillion, because we also use checks and credit cards to make transactions that don't physically transfer these Federal Reserve Notes (dollars).   We work on something called a fractional reserve system, where banks only keep a tiny portion of your actual currency, and loans out the rest to make interest.  The rest is really electronic and when you add this checkbook money, and loans between small institutions and all the physical currency of M1 the total is called M2 which equals about $7.9Trillion. (Source)   But even this does not cover the entire "nut",  the total amount of US currency, because you have to consider all the electronic transactions of big banks loaning to each other, of governments loaning each other, of oil being traded in US dollars, the US deficit, and of wars being  being fought.  This money is considered the M3, which is no longer being tracked by the Federal Reserve as of 2006, because it is supposedly "not relevant" to the economic indicators.  HoweverM3 is still being tracked by some private institutions and is reported to be over $14 Trillion, and includes the totals of M1 and M2. (http://www.shadowstats.com/alternate_data)

So where does this new $7 Trillion come from?  It would either come from new taxes (currently personal  income tax is roughly $2 Trillion or about 40% of the government revenue),or be borrowed from foreign countries like Communist China or Saudi Arabia, all of whom are losing trust in the American dollar, or it has to come out of thin air through the Federal Reserve.  The way money is created is that the private, non-government, non-regulated entity known as the Federal Reserve buys government securities, which bears interest that the American taxpayer have to pay to these private international bankers.  In return, they issue Federal Reserve notes (our dollar bills), that is a loan (hence the name Note), to the American people to use as currency.  So the currency we use everyday is actually on loan to us, and we pay interest on it through our taxes to the same bankers who we are bailing out.  But it gets much worse.

When the $7 Trillion for the bailout is issued by the Federal Reserve, it increases the M3 money supply.  Although not officially tracked by the Federal Reserve anymore, the M3 or the money supply is still an important factor of the economy.  The $7 Trillion gets added to the existing $14 Trillion - for a 50% increase in the total money supply.  This is called inflation.  Over time, this flooding of the economy with money reduces the value of the dollars in your bank accounts and under your mattress by 50% of its value. That means everything from food, gas, and health care will go up in price because your dollar is worth so much less.  This is the worst kind of tax in existence- the inflation tax - and it affects the poor and fixed income senior citizens the most. This means that they need a 50% increase in income to keep the same standard of living as they have now, but much of their income comes from social security and welfare.  The government has to turn to the Federal Reserve to create more money out of thin air to pay for these increases, which causes the inevitable downward spiral.

Twenty years ago, the average family could maintain themselves on a single income; today two incomes are barely enough.  Once the effects of this bailout trickles through the economy, most lower and middle class families will not be able to keep up with their payments as their salaries will not be able to increase at the same rate, and they will be at risk of losing their homes and falling below the new poverty line.  On top of it, the rest of the middle class will be stuck with a higher tax bill to pay the interest on the newly created money that is being given to those entities we are bailing out.  Where can all this lead? This can lead to a new Great Depression that would affect the entire world. But luckily, we will have saved the top 1% who already own 90% of the wealth, who caused this financial crisis in the first place, by making bad decisions and artificially manipulating the markets with low interest rates during the 1990s and early 2000s.

There is no short term solution that is going to avoid a major economic downfall. But there is a solution to get out of it quicker and not make the same intervention mistakes the government and Federal Reserve made with the Great Depression - intervention which caused it to last for decades. That solution is to abolish the Federal Reserve, one of the major causes of this calamity. Considering its purpose was to minimize the bust and booms of the free market and control inflation, it has failed spectacularly during the entire course of its history. The dollar has lost 97% of its value, the biggest booms and busts in history have occurred, and it oversaw the largest transfer of wealth from the people to the top 1%.  Abolishing the Federal Reserve would allow the free market to naturally regulate money supply and, more importantly, it would restore the Constitutional mandate that only Congress can coin money- interest free to the people.  As a majority of our current income tax goes toward paying the interest to the Federal Reserve, our income taxes will go down significantly, if not disappear eventually.  This would be the best economic stimulus package possible and prevent the current mass decline of the American people to poverty level.

Here is an excellent video describing the process of creating US dollars through the Federal Reserve in a fractional reserve system.

The Precinct Leader plants seeds in the neighborhood garden, cultivates and nurtures them, and watches them grow.  The Precinct Leader is a good neighbor.

A Precinct Leader makes the largest impact by simply connecting with neighbors.  Meet a neighbor while out raking leaves, walking the dog, getting the mail, shoveling snow or mowing the lawn.  Bring up something that affects the neighborhood and let them talk about it and you'll have an idea where they stand and what is important to them.  Knowing about specific legislation that affects your neighborhood and keeping up with current events in your area is critical.   That way, the Precinct Leader can match the neighbor's concern with current and upcoming legislation.

"Hey, did you know the city council just approved an increase in what we pay for trash collection?  They're nickel and diming us to death."  Listen to the neighbor's response and take note of it.  If they are a hard-nosed tax and spender or don't want to talk about it, it's time to meet another neighbor.  Listening to your neighbors is the key to good planting practices.

Attending city or town council meetings is a great way to cultivate your garden.  When you listen to what people have to say and watch their reaction to certain things being said, you will know who might be a good person or persons to approach after the meeting and talk a little further to plant a seed.  "I can't believe they just approved that."  Let the neighbor talk.  "I live off of McGee Street.  Where are you?"  If they're in your precinct, they'll remember you when you do your door-to-door survey and other activities.  In fact, they may offer to help you.  They will recognize your name when they read your Letter to the Editor in the news.

Precinct Leaders are instrumental in keeping tabs on what area representatives are doing, watching them closely, building a "file" on them and calling them out on their infractions.  Letters to the Editor, radio call-ins and "tattling" to neighbors is effective and can even be fun.  The whole point is to nurture, protect and cultivate your neighborhood garden.

Before you know it, you'll be the person that neighbors come to when they want to talk about issues.  They'll come to you because they know you care, that you listen to them, that you're knowledgeable and that you will take action to protect your neighborhood.  You will be the person that neighbors come to when they learn of a new piece of legislation and wonder how it may affect them.  They will want to know your thoughts on upcoming election issues and candidates.  Your influence will be felt in the community and you may be asked to become a member of a board or even run for office.

As a team, Precinct Leaders will come together at county- and district-wide meetings and in the state capitol for legislative sessions.  Nationwide strategies will be employed.  The more voices, the greater the impact.  New faces and large crowds will keep local government on their toes.  They are used to having people attend meetings near election time, but they are not used to us being there asking thoughtful questions between elections, where harmful legislation is many times passed virtually unnoticed.

After this election, our neighbors will begin to realize that nothing has changed.  They'll continue to complain.  We'll continue to listen and plant our seeds, water them and feed them, and with time and patience, reap the rewards as we stand proudly together in our lush neighborhood gardens across the world.
