The Frederick News Post columnist today suggested that the TEA parties are partisan. I suggested that she was using (or falling pray to) an age old tactic of .....

DIVIDE and CONQUER! Works every time. The people who created mass compulsory public schooling 100 years ago set this system in motion with reinforcement from the corporate media and the Federal Reserve system. It is a system of consumerism taught by the schools called competitive consumption. You isolate children of roughly the same age together in confinement year after year and pit them against each other competing for test grades, teacher's attention, sports, clothes styles, etc... It is designed to distract the children permanently from the powers that are controlling them. They are programmed to be obedient to the system, and those who are the most obedient are rewarded with little goodies and a place on the social class ladder a little higher than those less obedient. Those at the top of the ladder are the most invested and really very similar despite their protestation to the contrary.

Thus the Republocrat and Demopublican closest to the top are the most worthless. They are interested in maintaining the system exactly as it is to confer goodies (power, wealth, and pride) on their class. The Corporations and Labor Unions are the same way. The leadership in both are benefiting from the hierarchy crated underneath them and the battling of the lowers in what seems like a true dichotomy. It is not! The uppers at the union and the uppers at the company are both powerful, wealthy, prideful and surviving off the hierarchy beneath them. The pitting of people against each other to distract them from the benefiting hierarchy is an age old tactic.

We can get together and stop this, but we won't. Because it has been ingrained in us by the schools and reinforced by the media to be passive. Schooling is an exercise in passivity. Even many private schools do it the same way as the public school, so it is hopeless until people see that schooling is harmful - permanently harmful to true learning and education. Schooling kills free-thinking, creativity, independence, maturity, and innovation. Constant testing, subject abstraction, class size, bells, raising the hand, lines, drills, too much reliance on rote memorization, and the audience phenomenon cripples the mind and starves the spirit. The audience becomes passive and an easy target for Big Corporations selling goods and services, easy targets for Big Government selling Universal Health Care or Wars or whatever, easy targets for Big Church and the TV evangelists or Mega Churches, easy targets for the Corporate Media via advertising. If you are always in an audience and never the one in front of the audience, that may be fine in one or two things, but in everything it is a problem (school, theater, tv, sports games, gov't proceedings, stores, etc). Our society has become an audience society. Those wielding control of the audience don't want the audience to go away, because it empowers those in front. With schooling the system starts young making sure the passivity is taught at an early age. "I'll just sit back and let this information pass over me," says the little child after the natural curiosity has been drained out of him/her by the schooling apparatus. Sometimes it happens in 1st grade; sometimes it doesn't happen until they have been through a few years of it, 4th 5th, whatever. But eventually the school wins usually creating an obedient and passive populace.

The US was not always like this. This current system is an artifact of the Progressive era in America from 1890s-1920s roughly. Mass Compulsory Schooling in every state was passed at this time, The Federal Reserve, The Income Tax were all created at this time to subjugate the people permanently, because certain businessmen, politicians, and academicians thought they know best how to manage the society more effectively than the previous regime of freedom, liberty, and rugged individualism that was the hallmark of America for the prior 100+ years. The answer to the problem is to depopulate audiences. But we won't do it. We like our shows. We like not having to do the heavy lifting of producing. To become a producer and leave our role as consumer would be like "a Catholic becoming a Jehovah's Witness" as the columnist quoted.

Turn off the TV, don't send your kids to be a victim of school, stop collecting a paycheck and start an independent livelihood as nearly  every American did before the Progressive Era. Stop voting for a party and register independent. Stop shopping at Walmart and support you local farmer or grow it/hunt it/fish it yourself. Stop going to the theater and sports games. You have the power to stop the madness, but we won't. We like our escapes. We like to consume. It is what we have been trained to do - Compete for Consumables. If we have the courage to do it, we can save our waistlines, our environment, our self-respect, our souls, and our children's future. Otherwise, I see no different course than that fate which befell every previous empire - decay.

Financial ruin awaits the next generation. The consuming individual is multiplied by the consuming nation. The debt is staggering and will come due one day. You cannot ignore it forever. The monster will eat us all alive. We cannot be a nation of only or mostly consumers. We must once again bear producers as is our heritage. The only way out is to depopulate the system. Check out the von Mises Institute for economic freedom, John Taylor Gatto for educational freedom, Michael Frost for spiritual freedom, Ron Paul for political freedom, and yourselves for personal freedom. These people I mention are not saviors. They are examples. There are many, many other names I could have listed here, but this has gotten long enough.

........

I hope I didn't offend anyone at the paper :)

Citizens of Harford County held a highly successful Tea Party yet again yesterday, with 500 to 600 participating at the rally in the town of Bel Air.  Many in the crowd have long attended many July 4th activities, but this was the first time they had ever truly celebrated Independence Day.  The day was taken back, removed from the clutches of the tire and mattress salesmen, instead devoted to honor the fortitude, courage, and vision of the Founding Fathers.

Those in attendance heard and cheered speeches on our Founding Fathers, the Constitution, liberty, smaller government, and less taxes.  Our local Campaign for Liberty chapter was once again a co-sponsor along with our many coalition partners, Americans for Prosperity, the Institute for the Constitution, the Route 40 Republican Club, and Harford County Property Tax Revolt.

During the three hour rally scores of citizens took it upon themselves to take their handmade signs to the sidewalks and street corners, displaying them to thousands of passing motorists.  Bel Air reverberated with the sounds of horns, honking in approval.

The Campaign for Liberty speaker delivered in their address Dr. Ron Paul's speech of September 23rd, 2004, given on the floor of the House of Representatives, about the perils our Constitution now face.  This speech, which is contained in the Pocket Constitutions that we sell, was enthusiastically received by the assembled crowd.  Dr. Paul's words written five years ago are somehow even more relevant today.

Our local Chapter team did a fantastic job of working our literature table and the crowd, handing out hundreds of brochures and slim-jims.  We collected hundreds of signatures on our health care petitions.

Our chapters focus, and that of our coalition partners, now shifts to packing the County Council meeting of July 14th with local citizens.  On that night the Council votes on a maximum property tax rate increase cap.  This follows on our recent victory of getting the county budget, and tax rate reduced.

To the Editor:

It is no longer just a theory.

This past Wednesday, the Treasury's auction of $19 billion in 10 year Notes was met with tepid investor interest.  To induce folks to buy these bonds, the Treasury had to raise the interest rate on them to nearly 4%.

When Treasury rates rise, so too do rates on all sorts of things, including business loans, mortgages, and car loans.

Higher rates choke off all sorts of economic activity.  For example, if a business has to pay more to borrow money, will it?  Or, if you have to make higher mortgage payments thanks to a rising rate, are you likely to buy a new house?  And so on.

Rising interest rates are a very serious consequence of our government's runaway spending, a great example being the so-called stimulus bill.  Because we are running a massive deficit of $1.8 trillion to pay for the stimulus bill and other spending, and expect to run trillion-dollar deficits for years to come, it is very realistic to expect further increases in interest rates as the Treasury seeks buyers for its bonds.

But it doesn't have to be this way!  Our government could have a balanced budget.  We could live within our means, so we don't need to borrow.  It's time that government returned to its limited, Constitutional role instead of the expensive leviathan it is today.  Because instead of being a benign, or even benevolent government, what we have is choking our economy.  Wednesday's Treasury auction is proof.

Hello Western MD Campaign for Liberty,

Here's a summary of our June chapter meeting.  I believe that it was one of our most productive meetings to date.  If you wish to be removed from this email list, please let me know.

Report from the Frederick Gun Show (June 13 & 14)

Jason, Ted, Russell & Allen passed out hundreds of pieces of educational literature and plugged our chapter meeting date & times.  People were very receptive.  We also handed out 75 pocket U.S Constitutions and some limited bumper stickers, especially for those who donated.  Thanks to Russell's fast action we had a terrific C4L banner and a donation box.  All in all this was a very successful outreach and we will plan to do other similar events in the future.  Thanks to Jason, Christina, Russell & Allen for purchasing the space.

Treasurer

Nominations for a treasurer were made.  Russell Burdette was elected by consensus.  It was agreed by the members present that all donations to this local chapter will be used to purchase educational materials and purchase additional opportunities for outreach.  If you are interested in buying materials from the website, it is suggested that you do so through one of our coordinators as they receive a 20% discount (or better yet, consider becoming a local coordinator yourself !).

C4L Website

Jason shared some pointers on the C4L website.  Members are encouraged to log in frequently, write blogs and stay in touch.  More will be presented in the future when we obtain a satellite or modem internet connection during the chapter meeting.

Guest Speaker

The Maryland C4L state interim coordinator, Ted Patterson, provided an overview of our state's strategy, update on chapters and suggestions for recruitment & growth.

Continued presence and outreach at events such as the gun shows and the upcoming TEA Parties are vital to new membership and growth.  We discussed how to generate publicity such as writing newspaper editorials, calling local radio shows and confronting locally issues publically.  We also discussed physical distance as a geographic barrier to greater participation by Allegany & Frederick residents at this time.  Some suggestions included providing a live, interactive blog feed during the meeting, or recording parts of the meeting for posting & distribution later.  Everyone present agreed that they want a summary of the chapter meeting sent via email.  Also it was agreed that email names should be seen so that we are able to contact each other more readily between chapter meetings or as needed.

To have success and obtain greater influence on our elected community officials we must focus on local issues that will resonate with the public and that we can gain traction with.  After some discussion and brainstorming we decided to work on:

1.  defeating the implementation of speed cameras,

2.  reducing taxes or wasteful spending by local government.

A future plan will be to help establish a Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) chapter on western MD college campuses.

Action Items

June 20 - Our chapter's steering committee will participate in a state wide strategy meeting.

June 20 - Timonium gun show.  Our new members Gordon & Chris took flyers to distribute during the show.

Homework - Kristy (Allegany Co.), David (Washington Co.) and Jason (Frederick Co.) will work on researching the status of speed cameras plans in their respective counties and report back to our chapter.

July 4 - TEA Parties in Cumberland & Frederick.  Members are encouraged to take part by wearing C4L t-shirts, distribute info and continue to gather signatures on our Audit the Fed petition.  Names & contact info will be follow up at a later date.

July 9 - TEA Party in Hagerstown 3pm - 6pm at the University Plaza.  Our chapter will have a presence as described above.  All C4L members are encouraged to participate as time and schedules allow.

NEXT MEETING: Thursday July 16, 2009 7pm - 9pm at Tony's Pizza Hagerstown, MD

 Dear Patriots,

The Southern Maryland Chapter of the Campaign for Liberty is well on its way to becoming a force to be reckoned with. At our initial May chapter meeting, 11 people came out to show their support for the principles of the Campaign for Liberty: respect for the Constitution, the rule of law, individual liberty, sound money, and a noninterventionist foreign policy.

While the Southern Maryland Campaign for Liberty Chapter is officially off the ground and running, we still need fresh ideas and new members. We want to invite all of you to our next chapter meeting. The meeting will consist of a presentation from one of our members, a  reading of a section of the Constitution and discussion, a discussion about the chapter's organization and direction, and several other action-oriented items that will make us into a powerhouse that our elected officials in Southern Maryland will have to answer to. Additionally, state coordinator Ted Patterson will be in attendance to discuss how the other Maryland chapters are operating throughout our state and provide support for our chapter as we move forward.

Here's the meeting information:

Date: Monday, June 22nd

Time: 8:00 PM

Location: Greene Turtle Restaurant

   14150 Baltimore Avenue

              &
nbsp;    Laurel, MD 20707

The way I see it, we have two choices. We can sit back and let our elected officials lead us down a reckless road of disrespecting the Constitution and our individual liberties; making poor monetary and economic judgments wrought with reckless taxing, borrowing, and spending; and pursuing a dangerous interventionist foreign policy. Or, we can stand up and fight. I hope you'll join us.

If you have any questions or need to contact someone about the Southern Maryland Campaign for Liberty Chapter, you can simply reply to this e-mail or call me, Zach Swartz, at (202)-251-7942.

Thank you,

Zach Swartz

Interim Chapter Coordinator

Citizens of Baltimore and friends of liberty:

Legislators serving in Baltimore City Council will soon hear on an ordinance imposing a surcharge on certain plastic bags provided at grocery stores and other various retail outlets. The proposed legislation is spearheaded by Councilman Bill Henry (Council District 4) and has enough cosponsors to motion a much likely vote by July of this year. ABC News reports that:

Councilman Henry says small bags will be exempt, and so will the bags for produce and meat. But he's confident the 25-cent plan will be much more effective than the five-cent tax Washington DC is considering. 'I'd like to see change, he said. 'I'd like to see behavioral change and I think that if you give people the choice between paying a quarter and taking a bag, people will say I'd rather keep my quarter.

WBAL Interview: City Councilman Bill Henry speaks to this issue >>Click Here

We must stand against this as citizens; we mustn't allow Group think and coercion govern our lives, for we are self-governing. This proposed surcharge on plastic bags sounds fine and dandy when given the choice of whether or not to provide your own article transportation. However, little does City Council think that the city's general consensus lies within that same framework. Or do they? Do not let your voice go quietly in the night -- speak out to City Council. Demand jurisprudence.

This issue will be covered more this Wednesday, June 10th @ 7pm for our June Baltimore Campaign for Liberty Meeting in Lutherville/Timonium. >>Click here for details:  Please consider to attend, and bring a friend.

Dear Harford County Patriot,

On freedom, Benjamin Franklin once said there is much truth in the Italian saying, "Make yourselves sheep, and the wolves will eat you."

So, I ask is it, "We the Sheeple" or "We the People"? Be contemplative and examine your heart and mind to determine where your freedom and country stand amongst your list of daily priorities.  Are you paying attention to the historic, toxic events that are occurring at this very moment like the enormous debt we, the taxpayers, are burdened with, the bailouts, the looming threat of hyperinflation and the economy, all the stimulus money, unemployment, and the pending bomb that is about to drop on healthcare?

Here in Harford County your local Campaign for Liberty Chapter has all of these issues on its radar.  We believe that in order to turn this country around it has got to start on a local level with "We the People." Once the citizens, like you and I, take ownership for this responsibility, we can truly be a part of a monumental grass roots effort and then work our way up the ladder by influencing and electing qualified officials at all three levels - local, state, and national.

The good news is that Campaign for Liberty has the structure to help us accomplish this huge, but crucial, mission.  So, let's take a step back and revisit what we've achieved in just six months.

As you know Campaign for Liberty (hereafter C4L) was started by Congressman Ron Paul.  When he withdrew from the 2008 presidential election, he generously applied the balance of his campaign funds to create C4L which provided the framework for chapters to be developed across the country within each of the 50 states.

In December of 2008, Harford County formed the first Maryland C4L Chapter and held its first monthly meeting at which eight people attended.  Attendance has steadily risen to 39 people in May.  We got a real boost in April (generated by our efforts at the April 15 Tea Parties) with 59 in attendance.

Along those lines, our Harford Chapter has grown from 28 official members in December to 69 presently -- a 246% gain.  We have increased local coordinators from just one to seven.  Official members and local coordinators can be viewed on the national website www.campaignforliberty.com.  Additionally, we are communicating with over 300 nonmember Harford County citizens, as well.  In a very short period of time, we have:

  • Played an active role in three, successful April 15 Tax Day Tea Parties in Bel Air (approx. 900 people), Havre de Grace (approx. 300 people), and Middle River (approx. 200 people).

  • Spread the word about a very important bill in Congress to Audit the Federal Reserve HR-1207.  With your help in signing our various petitions, writing letters, and making phone calls to Representative Frank Kratovil, we are proud to say he signed on as a cosponsor just last Friday!   The bill has 200 cosponsors - 149 Republicans and 51 Democrats.

  • Cosponsored the Property Tax mini-Tea Parties on May 16 and 23 to let our voices be heard on a local level to the county government.  Hundreds of Citizens flooded the County Council Chambers.  This resulted in a 5% budget cut in the majority of departments of Harford County government and a lowering of the tax rate by $.018 cents.  Scores of citizens walked away with first-time knowledge and thoughts about constant yield, forward funding, and budgetary items to be considered a necessity or luxury.

  • Organized monthly meetings with featured guest speakers like House of Delegates member Rick Impallaria and local property tax activist John Mallamo to be a resource for our members and nonmembers so they can be informed.

  • Played an active role in C4L chapter development that now sees nine active chapters spread throughout Maryland, from the Eastern Shore to Western Maryland. Since February eight new chapters have been formed, and C4L has seen a 61% increase in state members.  The number of local coordinators in the state has grown from 14 to 37.

So, you can see the Harford Chapter has accomplished much in its first, six months.  This is just the beginning, however, and we can't afford to lapse back into sheep.

Just around the corner is our June 18 meeting where we are proud to present Delegate Pat McDonough.  You may know Pat as the Delegate whose campaign signs simply read "Speak English."  Delegate McDonough is a courageous leader for liberty in Annapolis and not afraid to speak his mind in these politically correct times.

Two weeks later we'll be out in mass for the first 4th of July Tea Party in Harford County to re-declare the true meaning of this national holiday and protect and defend our nation's freedom.

Ten days later on July 14 is a very important County Council meeting.  The Council will vote on a possible reduction in the property tax rate cap from 9% to 5%.  If passed, the most your tax bill could increase in any given year would be 5%, from the current 9%.  We need to flood this meeting and have the Council hear from Harford citizens.

Two days, later on July 16, we'll follow up on all of this with our regular monthly meeting with special guest Senate Candidate John Rutledge who will seek the Republican nomination to run against Sen. Barbara Mikulski in 2010.  And, there is so much more activity on the horizon.  So, mark your calendar with all these dates.

If we are to succeed locally-to-nationally, we need whatever time and resources you can provide.  On this list of priorities, we ask you to go to www.CampaignForLiberty.com  and consider being a local coordinator.  If not then join as a member.  When attending our next meeting we would appreciate your contributing to our county "sign project."  We'll accept any resources or talents you have to offer - developing a local website, creative writing, serving on our committees as defined in the attached survey.  TIME, MONEY, RESOURCES - every bit helps.

In closing, we remind you "Freedom is not free." The time is now to join, make your voice heard, act on your concerns, and take our nation back.

We personally thank you for your time and attention.  Please do not hesitate to contact us at williampacca1776@gmail.com.

In Liberty,

The Harford County Steering Committee

Here's what Congressman Frank Kratovil wrote to our Eastern Shore CFL Coordinator about HB 1207:

Dear Mr. Andersen:

Thank you for contacting my office to share your thoughts on H.R. 1207, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009.  As your Representative, I am guided by the perspectives of my constituents, and I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with me on this important issue.

I am pleased to be a cosponsor of H.R. 1207, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act, which was introduced by Representative Ron Paul on February 26, 2009.  This legislation would remove all existing audit restrictions and require the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to perform an audit of the Federal Reserve and report its findings to Congress by 2010. H.R. 1207 has been referred to the House Committee on Financial Services, where it awaits consideration.

As a fiscal conservative, I am focused on providing vigorous oversight of federal spending to ensure only responsible use of taxpayer dollars.  You may be interested to know that I opposed the release of $350 billion for the Troubled Asset Relief Program to bail out financial institutions because I did not feel that sufficient accountability safeguards were in place to protect American taxpayers.  I am proud to be a cosponsor of H.R. 1207, and I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to pass legislation that will increase transparency in government and ensure the responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.

Please do not hesitate to contact me again in the future regarding issues that concern you. I believe that continuous communication with the residents of the First District is essential to helping me be an effective advocate for you in Congress. To stay informed, please visit my website at www.house.gov/kratovil.

Thank you again for contacting me and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Frank M. Kratovil, Jr.
Member of Congress

I remember when the "New World Order" was just a conspiracy theory.  It is no longer; the 20 leaders attending the G20 Summit released a statement last week detailing their plan for worldwide, unified Marxism.

I've written a lengthy response to the G20 leaders' statement here: http://jgalt.wordpress.com/2009/04/03/g20-summit-the-new-world-order/

My conclusion:

With a global pact of socialism, this creates a monopoly of consumer consumption and production. The FSB can create trade sanctions against dissenting nations to the detrement of the entire world economy, but of most detriment to the sanctioned nation. After all, why not? The FSB cares not about the well-being of individuals because it is not responsible to them. The potential for tyranny through the FSB is unlike anything this planet has seen: worldwide, unopposed oppression through the hidden powers of economics.

In the simplest of terms, humans are afraid of death, they are afraid of decay, they fear anything that might destroy their illusion of control over all aspects of their life.

In terms of a free market, and an economy, this means that naturally, the ups and downs can be very violent.

Taking note of the bank runs, after Andrew Jackson beat the 2nd Central Bank:

List of Banking Crises

A quick view of the bank runs, and you may notice a pattern of risky behavior, where the bad assets were liquidated, there were some tough times, and the economies recovered.

Of additional interest, is the way in which America grew after the Civil War, through the Reconstruction, and eventually to the 20th century, all without a central bank.

I view economics on the basis of supply and demand. Everything else, is just vernacular intended to be ambiguous and keep certain individuals employed or in school. I think about a bazaar in Greece, a real free market. You can walk around and view the different things that are for sale. If you see something that you may want to buy, but then you see a better price, you go for the better price. If as a seller, you know that a certain item is only available at your location, then you can raise the price. This is supply and demand, and anything that interferes with these transactions will only create bubbles which will end in a boom or bust. If there is no capital, there should be no transaction.

As we continue the nonsense of centrally planning the economy, the natural entropy will keep the economy from recovering,

America's small farmers are under attack through a series of bills presented under the guise of "food safety."  I don't want to lose my freedom to grow, buy and eat real foods.  Let's fight for our freedom and our small farmers, who not only need our protection and support, but actual freeing from government intrusion, control and harm.

PLEASE CONTACT YOUR CONGRESSPEOPLE AND HELP SPREAD THE WORD!

The Harford/Cecil Counties Chapter of the Campaign for Liberty had a highly informative, spirited, meeting on Tuesday night, March 24th.  In attendance were 29 liberty minded people, 9 from Cecil County and 20 from Harford County.  Several "action items" were approved including a chapter building night and support where possible for the current Tea Party tax protest movement.

In light of the group discussion, and agreement on supporting the grassroots Tea Parties, the Harford/Cecil steering committee made contact with the McGrady Family, who is sponsoring a Tea Party, Wednesday, April 15th, at Tydings Park in Havre de Grace.  The steering committee then conferred and has agreed to endorse this event.  We have also accepted the McGrady's invitation to become an event co-sponsor.  The Route 40 Republican Club has also agreed to become a co-sponsor.

Havre De Grace is centrally located for both our Harford and Cecil County Campaign for Liberty members.   The event begins at 4:00 p.m. and ends at 6:00 p.m...   The Campaign for Liberty will have an active, organized presence at this event including a speaker, our newly purchased 4' x 7' painted canvas sign, recruitment brochures, pocket constitutions, etc...  We hope as many members of the Harford/Cecil chapter will attend as possible.  We are also asking, if possible for those that attend this Tea Party to try and wear a Campaign for Liberty tee-shirt to further highlight our presence.  Looking forward to seeing you on April 15th!

It is another sound good piece of legislation. H.R. 1388 has a creative title; The Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education (GIVE) Act. 321 representatives of the people voted approval for this legislation which, among many other things, strikes a blow to the rights of people to mount any protests against legislation. Listen closely, it outlaws the right to mount protests against proposed legislation.

This act is being presented as part of Pres. Obama's goal of establishing a national service program. In his speech delivered in Colorado Springs, CO he wanted "a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded" as the the military." As Rahm Emanuel further explained, "It's time for a real Patriot Act that brings out the patriot in all of us. We propose universal civilian service for every young American. Under this plan, all Americans between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five will be asked to serve their country by going through three months of basic training, civil defense preparation and community service."
