Website October 29, 2009 1:24 AM Los Angeles, CA - Restore the Los Angeles County Republic has officially launched its Internet operations with the release of its website www.RestoreLA.us, bringing its local message of empowering average citizens to reclaim their government to a national audience. "Our website will be the centerpiece in our efforts to fully engage every American to take part in their government." said Anthony Cinelli, Restore LA's President and Founder. "The Internet is truly the great equalizer, giving a voice to those that have historically been without one. Through our website, Restore LA will work tirelessly to provide the tools and resources everyday Americans can use to get back in the fight for our Republic, restoring their full representation in government, and thus ensuring the freedom and prosperity of our great nation for future generations." The Restore LA website has been built utilizing the latest and greatest in Internet technology, exclusively employing Free and Open Source Software to keep development costs to a minimum while dramatically increasing reliability and performance. The servers that host the Restore LA website are housed in the world renown One Wilshire Building, a state-of-the-art data center located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, that is also home to some of the biggest names on the Internet, such as Vonage, AT&T, Verizon, Time Warner, and Google. "Having extensively worked in the high-tech Internet world since 1985, I've seen first hand how quickly great ideas and inspirational messages can spread on the web. It was critical the technology our website was built upon was able to meet that demand and go from 'zero to sixty' overnight if needed." explains Cinelli, "I'm extremely confident that the Restore LA's core message of having people take back their government, root out political corruption, and elect hard-working, honest, everyday people to public office will be one of those messages that truly resonates with most Americans and ultimately go viral and spread like wildfire. And, when our message does go viral, Restore LA now has the website and the technology behind it to not only fully support that type of wildfire success, but also to sustain and build upon that success for years to come." Future plans for the website include an "Elections" section that will provide complete coverage of Los Angeles County elections, a "Campaigns" section that will focus on key issues and events that have a major impact on politics and government, and a "People" section highlighting both the individuals responsible for the problems in our government and the individuals that work diligently to fix those problems. The most important section of the website will be its "Action" section, that will provide visitors with a clear plan on how they can get directly involved and help get our country back on track starting with Los Angeles County. According to Reuters, "The Obama White House on Friday said it believed grants and loans from the $787 billion economic stimulus plan approved early this year had saved or created 640,329 jobs so far." We don't know exactly how this was determined and how accurate it is. But consider that. The U.S. government spends over $700 billion and, even if we take its word at face value, manages to have "saved or created" fewer than 700 thousand jobs. That's more than a million dollars per job. Of course, true growth of the economy, true health in the private sector, would mean the creation of jobs that cause economic growth, and much of these jobs do not represent as much wealth as was poured into them. Real jobs make money. Government-created jobs come at a loss. Otherwise the government wouldn't need to get involved -- if they were profitable jobs, the market would sustain them. Only jobs that don't produce more than they consume have to be sustained through subsidy. But who couldn't create or save a job for a million dollars? If you gave me $700 billion, I could create 700 thousand jobs, too. I'd just pay people a million dollars each to stay at home. The sad thing is, such a total waste could actually be less destructive to the economy than what our government's doing right now.

There are four initiatives to legalize marijuana in California all of which can be viewed at the Secretary of State's office. Of these four only two are currently circulating petitions to get on the ballot in November 2010. The Tax Cannabis 2010 Initiative is funded and circulated by Oaksterdam University and is the only initiative to have significant financial backing; as a result they also significantly lead in gathered signatures with a total of 120,000 out of the 433,971 required. The other Initiative circulating is called the California Cannabis Initiative and is all volunteer without a major financial backer. They have quoted their signature count at 10,000 through internal emails to volunteers. Since each initiative is only given 140 days to accumulate the 433,971 needed signatures, at their current rate of signature gathering, the California Cannabis Initiative will not be able to qualify (they have been circulating longer than the Tax Cannabis 2010 Initiative). Ultimately I made my decision on the viability of Tax Cannabis 2010 (it's large volunteer support base through Oaksterdam alumni, financial backing, and impressive signature count that will make them qualify for the ballot well before they need to). However there are certainly key differences in the two measures that others may wish to take into account. Tax Cannabis 2010 is certainly a more conservative version of marijuana legalization which they claim is necessary to appeal to a broader voter base. Tax Cannabis 2010 allows each person to possess only one ounce while the California Cannabis Initiative repeals all possession laws. Being a defender of liberty, I certainly agree that we should repeal all possession laws regarding cannabis but the LAO (Legislative Analysts Office) has already voiced a potential constitutional challenge to vaguely removing all possession laws. "That is because the measure in some cases makes general references to the other laws that are to be changed, rather than directly amending or striking out the specific existing laws relating to marijuana" while the Tax Cannabis 2010 Initiative has received no potential constitutional challenges in the LAO's analysis. Furthermore Tax Cannabis 2010 would argue that more moderate voters may vote against the measure without these restrictions on what a person can posses (a limit which many counties may likely increase on a county by county basis anyway). Another key difference is that, while each measure legalizes statewide possession and growing, the Tax Cannabis 2010 initiative allows local governments to set up their own system of taxation and stores (should they wish to have marijuana stores) and the California Cannabis Initiative creates statewide regulations for stores and taxation of marijuana. In that I personally believe local control on most issues is best (except those guaranteed by our Constitution such as the right to bear arms), I prefer the Tax Cannabis 2010 measure in this area; with competition of marijuana regulatory policies between various counties, I believe we can see much better systems at a small level than a statewide system made by the legislature could ever do with a "one size fits all approach." Ultimately the one area where California Cannabis Initiative stands out is that it releases all current marijuana offenders in California's prisons and expunges marijuana criminal records. The Tax Cannabis 2010 Initiative made a very calculated decision after polling that they would ultimately receive much more opposition from the Prison Guard's Union (California's most powerful political organization) if they included removal of existing criminal records and release of marijuana offenders. It is an unfortunate political reality but some members of the legislature have hinted they will have a follow up bill in the legislature to help address this and other issues created by the legalization bill (similar to how the legislature passed SB 420 to clarify parts of Proposition 215 that weren't covered when California legalized medical marijuana). I originally was a volunteer for the California Cannabis Initiative but after seeing both initiatives in action in their first month of operation, it is my recommendation that you support Oaksterdam's Tax Cannabis 2010 Initiative. It has the money, the volunteer base, a healthy rate of signature accumulation, no constitutional challenges by the LAO, and gives more power to local governments on the marijuana issue. They need volunteers now to help save money for the statewide ad campaign in the coming months. To sign up to volunteer click here or the image below.

My comments today are made in favor of a great nation; America is a country with a great Constitution. Every major issue of substance and controversy today is peripheral to the United States Constitution and its attendant bill of rights. Our future is steeped in our heritage; the problems that challenge us now can be solved by learning from our past. This present generation must become the architects of a new world system, one that supports a sustainable political environment within the framework of the Constitution. I believe Ron Paul is the new face of leadership for this system; he holds the blueprint for reengineering the Republican Party within this context. It will look very much like the old Party we once knew. Tags: |

This is the law that requires public access to meeting and requires the elected officials to let the public speak. 54950 In enacting this chapter, the Legislature finds and declares that the public commissions, boards and councils and the other public agencies in this State exist to aid in the conduct of the people's business. It is the intent of the law that their actions be taken openly and that their deliberations be conducted openly. The people of this State do not yield their sovereignty to the agencies which serve them. The people, in delegating authority, do not give their public servants the right to decide what is good for the people to know and what is not good for them to know. The people insist on remaining informed so that they may retain control over the instruments they have created. We the People of California have not given up our Sovereignty to our Public Servants.. Use the Brown Act to get information from the Public Servants within California... For a copy of these sections of the California Government Code click here

(Shipbuilder )Thomas Andrews: The pumps will buy you time, but minutes only. From this moment on, no matter what we do, Titanic will founder. Recently, people have asked what exactly is the "threat to the American experiment in liberty." There are many of course. The attacks on our liberties range from health care (HR 3200) to civil liberties violations (loss of habeas corpus) to personal privacy (warrantless wiretaps) to forced labor (income tax). But the most serious threat to the national experiment in liberty known as America is the continuing destruction of the dollar. As I posted on my Campaign for Liberty blog in March of this year, the dollar will weaken and, if we let the Federal government continue its policies, ultimately collapse. The levels of debt carried by the U.S. can never be paid back. And the Federal government's foreign creditors, whose savings are needed to sustain the lifestyle to which it has become accustomed, know it. Continue... On the 9/30/09 Press-Enterprise blog, Ben Goad reports the release of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform report on transparency under the Obama administration. This blog post was also put out as a press release on the California GOP website. Mr. Issa is the ranking Republican on the committee. "So what", you ask? The committee's report, found here, is a veritable smorgasboard of government blunders, finger pointing, and bashing of nearly every facet of the Obama administration. The irony here is that the finger is never pointed the direction in which it belongs - at the Federal Reserve. Given that there is not a single mention of H.R. 1207 or any other measure to audit the Federal Reserve in the report or on the committee website, you'd think Mr. Issa was not currently a co-sponsor of H.R. 1207, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009. The report does endorse Mr. Issa's bill H.R. 2392, the Government Information Transparency Act, as a measure to resolve the incomprehensible lack of transparency in the distribution of TARP funds. This bill would require "best practices" in reporting and the use of special electronic reporting methods for government agencies. Obscuring the issue by claiming to require "tough new reporting requirements" through some nebulous, largely symbolic, new requirements does nothing to improve transparency, but rather shifts the focus away from the root of the problem. Given that the committee's stated responsibility is "oversight of virtually everything government does," you'd think the committee might recognize areas where current law is lacking, preventing proper oversight, as in the case of the Federal Reserve. Let's encourage future recommendations by Mr. Issa and his committee to support the transparency they claim to desire by supporting H.R. 1207. You can contact Representative Issa here. If you are not in Mr. Issa's district, you'll get a nice form response that says that since you're not in his district he can't respond, but perhaps he'll get the message. -RJ Categories: Republican Party, Action Item, Monetary Policy, Congress Tags: HR 1207, Transparency, Issa |

Californians your 2nd Amendment Rights are in Jeopardy! !!!IMMEDIATE ACTION NEEDED!!! Right now there are three Anti-Gun Bills on Governor's Desk Second Amendment advocates engaged in a prolonged battle in the California Legislature, but unfortunately on the final day of session, three anti-gun bills narrowly passed. The bills include: AB 962 (ammunition registration), SB 41(burdensome and unnecessary regulations that duplicate existing requirements under federal law governing the sale of firearms) and SB 585 (prohibitions on the lawful sale of firearms and ammunition at the Cow Palace exhibition center). Urge the Governor to Veto these Bills 916-445-2841 916-558-3160 or 916-445-4633 FAX or via e-mail at http://gov.ca.gov/interact I urge all gun owners in the state of California to contact the governor's office and respectfully urge him to veto these anti-gun bills. IT IS CRITICAL THAT EVERYONE CONTACTS THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE IMMEDIATELY.
AB 962 - Would require that firearms dealers and other vendors of ammunition keep a registry of all buyers of handgun ammunition. The bill would also ban all mail order and Internet sales of handgun ammunition and reloading components. Writes Jerry Salcido: "Yesterday the California Republican Party adopted the following resolution which Michael Erickson, Chairman of the Sonoma County Republican Party and I (Chairman of the Alameda County Republican Party) submitted":
"Several members of the Campaign for Liberty including Matt Heath, Walter Stanley, David Latour, and David Ewing spent hours emailing, calling, and speaking in person with delegates of the California Republican Party over the course of the last 3 weeks in order to gain their support of the resolution," Salcido continues. "Our efforts resulted with a near unanimous adoption of the resolution. There was only one nay vote out of the hundreds of delegates in the CRP." When a state ‘nullifies' a federal law, it is proclaiming that the law in question is void and inoperative, or ‘non-effective,' within the boundaries of that state; or, in other words, not a law as far as that state is concerned. While the media of late tends to focus on the new crop of states resisting DC with legislation on firearms and health care, they almost always miss, or ignore, what I consider to be some of the greatest and most effective state resistance to federal power - marijuana activism. According to our friends at NORML, there are now 13 states who are openly resisting federal laws on medical marijuana. And now my home state of California is on the verge of taking it to the next level - full legalization. According to a report in the SF Chronicle yesterday: Two prominent East Bay marijuana advocates got clearance from the state today to try to put a pot-legalization initiative on the November 2010 California ballot. This isn't your run-of-the-mill "medical marijuana" bill - that's already legal in CA. If approved by voters, the bill would: allow anyone over 21 to possess or grow marijuana for personal use. It would allow each local government to decide whether to tax and regulate marijuana sales. Any honest person reading the Constitution through the intent and understanding of the founders would recognize that the federal government has no delegated power to be involved in the marijuana issue, in any way. Keep in mind, though, that the federal courts (and the DEA), don't really care what the Constitution has to say about it. They've interpreted it in their own way, and have made it quite clear that they don't recognize state marijuana laws as "valid." But, as we say here in California, thanks for your opinion, DC, we've got our own. Well, out here on the west coast we held a rally in San Francisco on September 15th, Audit the Fed Mass Action Day. We set up camp in Civic Center Park, downtown San Francisco, directly across the street from San Francisco's City Hall and just across the park from both the state and federal buildings. The city of San Francisco gave us a 3 hour permit with 1 hour sound, so Tin Lieu, from Sacramento County, brought down a professional sound system that overflowed the civic center park with excerpts from all the famous audit clips on fed you tube. The sound drew alot of attention. Thanks Tin!
With 3 tables full of petitions, audit the fed slims, Campaign for Liberty material plus merchandise, we successfully sustained a small but steady crowd.
After an hour or so of rallying and petition signing, the crew marched over to Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi's office. After a short rally, Sonoma County's David Ewing and Sacramento County's Tom Davenport delivered the petitions to the Speaker of the House's office. We then split off in to 2 teams to deliver our petitions to Senator Boxer and Feinstein. San Francisco's John Dennis delivered to Senator Boxer while Contra Costa's Jun Dam delivered to Senator Feinstein. When all is said and done, we delivered 2,500 petitons to Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, Senator Boxer and Senator Feinstein at their San Francisco offices. At the same time in Southern California, San Bernardino's Adam Cabrera delivered nearly 500 petitions, from all over the LA area, to both Senator Boxer and Feinstein. Fresno's Dan Moreno delivered petitions in Fresno and Riverside's Ryan Magnon in San Diego. The Bear Republic delivered over 3,300 petitons to both our Senators and the Speaker of the House! Audit the Fed!! **Photography courtesy of Tom Davenport ** A special thanks goes out to everyone who showed up and helped out in their own way; and all those who mailed their petitions in on time. Job well done. Categories: Ron Paul, Campaign For Liberty, Education, Media, US Constitution, Revolution, Economy, Monetary Policy, Congress Tags: |

Earlier this week Campaign for Liberty California took to the streets of San Francisco for another epic “Audit the Fed” rally. As part of a continuing effort to inform and educate the masses on the need for a proper audit of the Federal Reserve, local members met at the Civic Center Plaza armed with hundreds of petition forms, a handful of pocket Constitutions, and a strong desire to share their concerns with fellow citizens. Only minutes after we arrived and finished setting up our equipment (tables, speakers, merchandise, etc) people passing by on the street began to approach us. Some heard “Audit the Fed” and simply wanted to know where to sign. Others were curious but remained skeptical and hesitant to attach their names to anything. And many people just wanted to know more about our cause. My personal experience canvassing and chatting with people certainly served as a reminder of all those who are still unfamiliar with what plenty of us now consider the basics. Many, for example, do not recognize the Federal Reserve System as a private banking cartel that creates fiat money out of thin air and, consequently, causes inflation and adds to the federal deficit. Many do not know that Congress lacks the authority to audit the Fed in any real capacity and that the institution which issues our currency has operated under extreme secrecy since its creation in 1913. And many do not know that there are now bills before Congress (H.R. 1207 and S. 604) which would allow for a legitimate audit by removing restrictions and mandating a GAO audit of the Fed to be completed by the end of 2010. I will admit there is a certain level of frustration that arises from recognizing just how many people are uninformed when it comes to an issue of such importance. But I also recognize that people are not necessarily uninformed by choice, and that many are eager to learn what they can do to help fix our broken financial system. And that is where Campaign for Liberty comes in to play. By informing our friends and family, and by them informing their friends and families, the number of informed Americans will inevitably continue to grow and the Establishment will have an increasingly tougher time ignoring our roaring call for transparency and honesty. Upon arriving at the first building we marched to, our team was met by personnel who informed us that Pelosi’s office had moved. So, despite the anti-climatic nature of the moment, we quickly learned where the new office was and made our way there while continuing to hold signs and chant constructive messages such as “Audit the Fed” and “Where’s the Vote?” We soon made it to the correct office complex and at that point several Campaign for Liberty volunteers entered the building and delivered the stack of petitions to a friendly receptionist happy to pass along them along to her boss. In fact, throughout the day I heard and noticed that all personnel and law enforcement officers were receptive and respectful, and we were all grateful for it. I wrote a nice letter to my representative, Jerry Lewis today: Honorable Mr. Lewis, Happy Constitution Day 2009! Please bring John Shadegg's 'Enumerated Powers Act' (HR 450) to a vote as soon as possible, and please do all you can to support the passage of this bill. I attended your town hall meeting recently where you pointed out in response to a question that "we don't debate" the issues about Constitutionality of bills very often in the House. Well, I'm here to tell you that H.R. 450 is a perfect opportunity to change that - simply require that each bill cite the specific provision of the Constitution which gives Congress the power. Then a Constitutional debate over legislative authority will be built in to every bill. I also challenge your assertion during the town hall meeting that you "always vote according to the Constitution" given that the authority most bills would require in order to pass muster is the general welfare clause in Article I, Section 8. I suppose if most people were aware that nearly every law is passed under this dubious authority, they might challenge this interpretation and/or urge a change this clause in the Constitution through an amendment. Please uphold your oath to the Constitution and support H.R. 450.

Last night, at our monthly Sonoma County Republican Party meeting, I introduced a resolution of support for Senate bill 604, the Federal Reserve Sunshine Act of 2009. Overwhelmimgly, the resolution passed. As many remember, 5 months ago, the Sonoma County Republican Party passed a resolution in support of Ron Paul's HR 1207, with some stiff opposition. This time around, our opposititon had decided it was not worth it to organize . (On a side note, our County Chairman was a co sponosor of this resolution. In fact, he has sponsored, with the Alameda County Republican Party Chairman, a resolution in support of both HR 1207 and S. 604 at the California Republican Party Convention. Read all about that resolution here.) I introduced the resolution in terms of continuity. We passed a resolution on HR 1207 very early on, and now that HR 1207 has nearly 2/3 the Congress and all the Congressional Republicans as co sponsors, it is time we offficially support the Senate version. Below you will find the text of the resolution. (Thanks again to Alameda County who passed a similar resolution 2 months ago.) Whereas, we, as Members of the Sonoma County Republican Party applaud transparency and accountability in government and reject government secrecy involving monetary policy that impacts the entire economy; and Whereas, serious discussions of proposals to oversee and audit the Federal Reserve are long overdue; and Whereas, the Federal Reserve can enter into agreements with foreign governments and foreign central banks and the United States Congress is prohibited from overseeing these agreements; and Whereas, we, as Members of the Sonoma County Republican Party, believe agreements made by the Federal Reserve with foreign powers and foreign banking institutions should be subject to Congressional oversight; and Whereas, the United States Constitution, gives the United States Congress the authority to coin Money and regulate the value thereof; and Whereas, auditing the Federal Reserve will allow Congress to assert its constitutional authority over monetary policy and help to protect the value of the United States dollar;
Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Members of the Sonoma County Republican Party, in defense of the United States Constitution, STRONGLY URGE the Senators of the 111th United States Congress to support the Federal Reserve Sunshine Act of 2009. Emptying Reservoirs in the Middle of a Drought By Max Schulz from the September 2009 issue ANYONE DOUBTING THAT OUR nation's environmental and economic policies can get seriously out of whack from time to time need only look to the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta. Located in California's Central Valley, between the state's capital city and Stockton, it is where the American, Mokelumne, Cosumnes, and Calaveras Rivers flow into the larger Sacramento and San Joaquin. It is also where the saddest agricultural saga since the Depression-era Dust Bowl is now playing, as the waters from those rivers flow beneath San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge and out to sea. As they flow unimpeded to the Pacific, those waters are also washing out to sea the livelihoods of tens of thousands of farm workers and agricultural business owners. It is an economic as well as human tragedy. This is a story about water, about its lack as well as its abundance. But it is also a story about the price we pay to protect the environment, and whether we are striking the right balance between nature and mankind. In the end, the question is whether people should exercise dominion over nature, or whether nature should lord over man. To most Americans, the answer is obvious: our capacity to make nature subservient to our needs justifies doing so, insomuch as we act as responsible stewards of the environment. But however obvious that might be to most people, the countervailing idea-that nature should take precedence over mankind-is being sown into a series of laws and regulations that are causing undue torment and distress. The American West was created, it is fair to say, by mankind taming nature and using it for his own purpose. That is how the San Joaquin Valley over time became the most productive agricultural region in the world. Massive and expensive irrigation and public works projects captured the waters in the San Joaquin River Delta to transform a desert into a paradise, providing much of the fruits and vegetables and dairy products Americans consume. Millions more acre-feet of water are diverted each year to the state's coastal population centers from these and other rivers, like the Colorado. By damming and diverting mighty rivers, and reshaping the landscape all throughout the American West, the federal government allowed Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco to bloom into the cities we know today. That is the irony of California: a state that is Valhalla for environmentalists and the home base for the green movement is an affront to-and perversion of-nature. California is an artificially constructed paradise. The Golden State owes its golden existence largely to mammoth engineering feats representing mankind's ingenuity and triumph over the natural realm. It's not just Hoover Dam, that wonder of the modern world, but dozens of less famous man-made dams and lakes and reservoirs, with names like Glen Canyon and Parker and Havasu and Link River, that help reshape the landscape to provide water and power to California's faraway population centers. The state could not sustain its giant cities or its astoundingly fertile agricultural sector without them. Today's California, that greenest of American states, is itself testimony to man bending nature to his purpose. NATURE, OR AT LEAST ITS SELF-STYLED advocates, is striking back. Its cudgel is the federal Endangered Species Act and supporting California statutes wielded on behalf of fish such as the tiny delta smelt. In 1993, the delta smelt was listed as threatened under the ESA. And with that designation, litigious environmental groups went to court. Filing lawsuit after lawsuit on behalf of this or that supposedly endangered quarry, they aim to dismantle the infrastructure of California's State Water Project (SWP) and the federal Central Valley Project (CVP). Those two projects' dams, reservoirs, canals, waterways, aqueducts, and pumps deliver the life-giving water supporting the state's agriculture and supplying its major cities. The greens have had some success. In 2007, U.S. district judge Oliver Wanger ruled that the pumping that annually sent about 6 million acre-feet of water to Kern County and beyond was threatening the delta smelt's existence by disrupting water flows for the fall spawning season. Citing the protections accorded by the Endangered Species Act, he ordered pumping for agricultural uses curtailed by one-third until the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service could evaluate the situation. After studying the issue for more than a year, the USFWS determined last December that pumping by the SWP and CVP "was likely to jeopardize the continued existence of the delta smelt and adversely modify its critical habitat." The agency issued plans to keep Judge Wanger's restrictions in place. According to Tulare County supervisor Allen Ishida, "California was forced to let 660,000 acrefeet of its freshwater supplies run out to the ocean. That was enough water to supply the entire Silicon Valley for two years." Further curbs may come, on behalf of the delta smelt as well as other species. The USFWS and the California Fish and Game Commission are moving forward with threatened and endangered designations for Chinook salmon, steelhead, and the longfin smelt, presaging further water reductions for agriculture. The result of these irrigation pump shutdowns is that hundreds of thousands of acres of farmland are being forced out of production. Kern County authorities estimated that 145,000 of the 850,000 acres that are typically irrigated were idled or under-irrigated last year. The loss was pegged at $100 million in the county alone. A study by UC-Davis estimated San Joaquin Valley farm revenue losses to range from $482 million to $647 million. Total California agricultural economic losses could hit $3 billion this year. But those are just abstract financial numbers. Behind those figures are real people, farmers and business owners and families who are losing livelihoods and are being forced to uproot and flee. The UC-Davis study conservatively suggested 24,000 to 32,000 Central Valley jobs were destroyed by environmental rulings designed to protect endangered wildlife. It further estimated job losses could approach 80,000 or more if restrictions intensified. Communities are withering for a government-imposed lack of water. It is little exaggeration to say that the farmers of the most valuable farming region in the nation are facing extinction. IS THAT WHAT THE Endangered Species Act was designed to accomplish? In the 36 years since President Nixon signed the ESA into law (its chief congressional sponsors were Rep. John Dingell, D-MI, and the future Abscam crook, Sen. Harrison Williams, D-NJ), an entire federal and state government apparatus has sprung forth to provide protections to creatures like the bald eagle and the grizzly bear. More than 1,300 species of animals, fish, and plants have been designated either "endangered" or "threatened." Certainly, there have been some preservation successes, notably with iconic animals like our national bird or Smoky the Bear's cousins. But while the bald eagle and the grizzly are the poster children of ESA protection, they are the exception and not the rule. Most species for whose preservation the power of government has been harnessed are ones whose loss few would mourn, or even notice. How many tears, for instance, would be shed if the rock gnome lichen disappeared, not to mention the dwarf wedgemussel or the Comal Springs dryopid beetle? Or the delta smelt? And yet court decisions and other regulatory moves are being made on behalf of these and other creatures in ways that present significant hardship for landowners. Whether depriving Central Valley farmers of contractually entitled water or placing restrictions on landowners' use of their own properties, endangered species regulations end up hamstringing humans for the benefit of certain plants, fish, and animals that few have heard of and even fewer care about. Sometimes such hamstringing is merely a costly irritant. Case Western Reserve University law professor Jonathan Adler has noted, "Under the ESA, individual Americans have been prevented from building homes, plowing fields, cutting trees, clearing brush, and repairing fences-all on private land." In other instances, it can be tragic. According to Adler, "The federal government has even barred private landowners from clearing firebreaks to protect their homes from fire hazards." In 1993, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service forbade residents of California's Riverside County from clearing firebreaks around their homes for fear of disturbing the endangered Stephens' kangaroo rat (despite the fact state authorities required them to do so as a fire protection measure). When wildfires whipped through the Southern California community, nearly two dozen homes were destroyed. The case of the Central Valley farmers is a similar-and needless-calamity. The problem, says Tulare County's Ishida, is not the courts or even activist judges. "The problem is the courts are being forced to base their decisions on laws that have not been amended or changed in decades. The environmentalists have skillfully used such laws as the Central Valley Project Improvement Act and the Endangered Species Act so that judges have no alternative but to order massive releases of water." Ishida recently told a congressional panel that since the passage of the Central Valley Project Improvement Act in 1992 (roughly the same time that the delta smelt was listed as threatened), the state of California has redirected more than 3 million acre-feet of water that used to serve cities and farms. Now that water supports fisheries and habitats. Often it just goes out to sea, completely unused for any of the many purposes for which a thirsty state is desperate to use it. As California farmers lose their jobs by the tens of thousands to protect a tiny fish, the sad irony is that the delta smelt may not be faring much better. That's not because of inadequate protections against humans offered by state and federal officials, but rather because those officials seem incapable of saving the delta smelt from nature's predators. The smelt rarely grows much longer than three inches, and it is prey for any number of other creatures that inhabit the rivers of the San Joaquin Valley. As Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA), noted at a recent congressional hearing, the water diversions have not helped the delta smelt populations. There are quite a few officials who believe that the delta smelt is on Darwin's fast track to extinction, despite the feel-good efforts of human environmentalists. McClintock's congressional colleague, George Radanovich, is even rooting it on, calling the smelt "a worthless little worm that needs to go the way of the dinosaur." For their part, environmentalists who sue on behalf of the delta smelt consider the tiny fish to be an absolutely critical part of the food chain, feeding on plankton and in turn serving as food for larger fish and birds. If the delta smelt disappears, they warn ominously, the local food chain collapses. Whether that's true or not, what the policies boil down to should be a matter of picking your calamity: should the fish (and others in the food chain) suffer, or should humans? PERHAPS THE MOST MYSTIFYING ELEMENT of California's farms-versus-fish imbroglio is the unwillingness of the media and the state's political establishment (other than the elected representatives of the region) to confront the issue head-on. Sidestepping the tough questions involved, they refer instead to California's lengthy drought as the cause of much of the state's misfortune. "California is in its third year of drought, and many farmers in the state's crop-rich Central Valley are looking at dusty fields, or worse, are cutting down their orchards before the trees die," according to National Public Radio in a report typical of the media coverage. "This year, farmers have been told they are getting only a small fraction of the water they need." The alarm over California's drought spread on both coasts. In Sacramento, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger declared a state of emergency, while in Washington Congress held hearings at which Democrats decried "California's Katrina." Not surprisingly, global warming is being blamed for California's drought. California's drought was regularly invoked on Capitol Hill as Congress debated cap and trade legislation this summer. Energy Secretary Steven Chu gave this storyline a boost in February when he warned that drought will cause California's vineyards and farms to vanish by the end of the 21st century if we fail to combat warming. "We're looking at a scenario where there's no more agriculture in California," he told the Los Angeles Times. The only problem with the idea of drought driving California's misery is that it is largely a fiction. There has been very mild drought in recent years, but not enough to account for the current massive cuts in water to Central Valley farmers. This spring, the state's Department of Water Resources revealed that the mountain snowpack feeding California reservoirs was at 80 percent of normal levels, while precipitation in the northern and southern Sierra was 90 percent of average. This prompted California's chief hydrologist to tell reporters writing about the supposedly epic conditions that while, sure, there had been some drought, it was "not the worst we ever had." By the conventional definitions his office employs, he said, 2007 and 2008 barely qualified as drought years at all. Drought isn't the reason the Central Valley's farmers aren't getting water. "There's plenty of water," says congressman Devin Nunes, a Republican who represents part of the Central Valley. "But the courts say it can't be touched, so it's flowing out to sea under the Golden Gate Bridge." The false drought meme has conveniently allowed policy makers as well as the media to sidestep the uncomfortable issues surrounding Endangered Species Act regulation. It permits them to avoid confronting what Nunes refers to as "the fundamental wrongness of choosing fish over people." And it permits them to avoid taking responsibility for the consequences of government policies and regulations that have tremendously adverse impacts on ordinary people's lives. When cornered, blame the weather. DURING THE 1930s, the Dust Bowl tragedy pitted hapless farmers against the vagaries of weather and climate, as the Great Plains endured a horrific seven-year drought the likes of which no one could recall. California, too, has suffered drought in recent years. No one denies that. Yet however much the drought gets blamed for so many of the state's problems, the disaster unfolding in the Central Valley is almost entirely man-made. Fields lie fallow. Families in some of America's richest cropland face crushing poverty. Businesses go belly-up. The fact that this is spurred by government policies designed to protect endangered species from dying off is an irony tinged with tragedy. Missing in this sad affair has been any element of common sense. But that may be changing. In response this summer to an appeal of the last year's Fish and Wildlife Service ruling, Judge Wanger signaled a change of course. He hinted that the USFWS's decision supporting the shutting off of pumps to Central Valley farmers (not to mention his initial order to do so) may have erred by not taking into account the impact on the human populations. As the issue winds its way through the courts, it remains to be seen whether Judge Wanger's newfound logic holds up. If so, there may be protection for the endangered farmer after all. Greetings Paulistas, SUCCESS!!! 1185 signed petitions!!! 45 Paulistas converged on a normally quite neighborhood park in San Juan Capistrano where a crowd of over one thousand 9/12 Tea Partiers where there to protest our wayward government. We brought in a U-Haul truck loaded with signs, banners, 4 tents, tables, flags, brochures, pocket constitutions, petitions, flyers, slim jims, cameras, clipboards, bullhorns, and whole lot of enthusiasm to engage this very large crowd with our winning message---freedom, liberty, and the Constitution Solution!!! We chauffeured in Steve Vincent (www.endthefed.us) 80 miles from Los Angeles to give a riveting speech on the BEAST -THE FED. This video captures the last 4 minutes of his speech - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_O1nVJtERuc The signed petitions included Cap and Trade, Audit the Fed (1207 and 604), the Pass Act, and ObamaCare. GIANT THANK YOUS to every Paulista that participated especially Pete who chauffeured Steve Vincent to Capistrano from LA and back to the LA Tea Party ---190 miles in all. Pete and Steve where driving in style thanks to Marco who loaned us the long, sleek, black Lincoln Sedan from his limo company. HUGE thank you Marco! In a free republic, or even a normal country, it would be considered a big deal when the government attacked a foreign nation. We would be able to keep track of the number of enemies we've had abroad. The US government, on the other hand, has long been an empire. Thus, when Obama widened the war into Pakistan, bombing and displacing large numbers of civilians, it was hardly on anyone's radar. Yesterday, the US invaded a town in Somalia. It hardly made the news. In April, the US threatened an invasion of Eritrea -- and most Americans probably don't know where Eritrea is, that is, if they've heard of it at all. This is the nature of empire: Since the end of WWII, we've always been at war, with Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Grenada, Panama, Iraq, Serbia and Afghanistan, not including the dozens of other countries the US bombed or staged coups in during that time. This is not normal for a people, it's not healthy for a nation, and it cannot be squared in any way with the type of free country America was supposed to be. If the citizenry do not even know which countries their government has been at war with, in what sense is democratic representation meaningful?

Petitions......................... Check With the exception of coming out of Temecula looking like a walking tomato, I would say the rally was great. The weather was warm and breezy. I got about 100 petitions for S. 604 from the event. A local Ron Paul supporter by the name of Randy set up a table and helped to get some additional petitions. I am by no means a good judge of crowds, but I didn't get to at least 80% of the people. So, safe to say at least 500 people were there. There was a group of about 3-5 people that were counter protesting in favor of health care. Some guy drove into the parking lot and just randomly called people at the event racist from out of his window then drove off. No real problems to report though. Tips I learned from previous petition signings:

With its endless creation of worthless fiat money and provision of continual fuel for the business cycle, the Federal Reserve has played a key role in destroying the value of our dollar, which has lost over 95% of its purchasing power since the Fed's creation in 1913. While the Fed has partnered with Congress, the president, and the Treasury Department to put us on the hook for almost $13 trillion in bailouts and loans (and that's likely just for starters), it has refused to release the details about which institutions are receiving our money. That's right. The Federal Reserve can freely loan out your dollars and commit you to deals with foreign central banks and governments without having to provide any significant details to your representatives. The Fed is one of Washington's most secretive institutions, and it has successfully defeated attempts time and again that would have required greater transparency. But never has the Fed faced a fight as serious as the one the freedom movement has mounted in the last several months. We have seventy five percent of the American people behind us. We have 287 cosponsors for the House version, HR 1207. Three more cosponsors will give us a two thirds majority of support. We have nearly a quarter of the Senate. On Friday, September 25 at 9:00 am, Audit the Fed will have hearings before the House Financial Services Committee. This Tuesday, September 15, Campaign for Liberty will be holding a Mass Action Day to gain cosponsors for the Senate version of Audit the Fed, S 604. You have worked hard over the last few weeks to gather petitions for this effort. For the last week, you have been calling your senators' D.C. offices. On Tuesday, we will deliver those petitions to our senators' local offices and personally follow up on those phone calls as we take a stand for transparency and accountability. While you are mobilizing across the country, C4L National staff and several grassroots volunteers will be delivering over 100,000 of your petitions to Capitol Hill. Click here to see what your state and local coordinators have planned for Action Day events in your area. If you haven't yet signed up to call your senators, click here and commit to contacting them on Monday. If you are unable to make it out to a senator's local office on Tuesday, you can join in the events by calling, faxing, and writing Congress. We only have a few days left before the Action Day, so let's take full advantage of them. Download petitions and other materials and spread the message that the American people are demanding to know how their money is being spent and what deals they are being committed to. And don't forget, we're adding an extra incentive to this Mass Action Event. The person who gathers the most signatures in each state will win a pocket Constitution and a copy of Dr. Paul's new book, End the Fed, both autographed by Congressman Paul himself. And whichever state collects the most signatures (as a percentage of population) will win a $1,500 gift certificate to the Campaign for Liberty store! Your efforts have made history, but we're not done yet. On September 15, we will petition our senators in defense of transparency and accountability. On September 16, Congressman Paul's End the Fed will officially be available in stores and will take the debate to a whole new level. Throughout all of the challenges and events in the past two years, you have demonstrated your unshakable resolve to fight for liberty. This Tuesday, let's remind our senators and all the rest of Washington that we're not going away until we've restored our liberties. Audit the Fed is only the beginning. I look forward to hearing the reports from Tuesday as we continue this historic effort!

Robert Kiyosaki, a well-respected investor, commentator, and author, has been a long-time critic of the Federal Reserve. In this neat video, Kiyosaki and author Michael Maloney discuss the U.S. money supply, inflation, and the advantages of gold and silver. In the video Kiyosaki has a great quote, that many of us would agree with:
If you haven't read any of Kiyosaki's material, I encourage you to pick up one of his books.

Earlier this year the Alameda County Republican Party in California passed a resolution in favor of H.R. 1207, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009. Several months later, Alameda County passed a resolution in favor of S. 604, H.R. 1207's sister legislation in the Senate. Following Alameda County's lead was Sonoma and Contra Costa counties in California as well as a number of others around the country. As the chairman of the Alameda County Republican Party, I, along with the chairman of the Sonoma County Republican Party have introduced this resolution to the California Republican Party to be voted on at the September 25-27, 2009 California Republican Party Convention. Californians, please do your part through phone calls and email to encourage your Republican congressmen and your Republican county chairman to co-sponsor this resolution.

1972 Democratic Presidential candidate George McGovern gave a speech in in Marin County, California last week. A friend sent this in an email: "McGovern said he would propose a one-sentence Health Care Bill: 'All Americans may now sign up for Medicare.' " If you're a supporter of the "Public Option" in the current healthcare proposal (HR3200), or "Single Payer" system for that matter, McGovern's suggestion makes sense. Medicare is already in place. Rather than build out a new infrastructure, Medicare could just be scaled, over time, to achieve the same end. Scaling Medicare would be quicker and less expensive than a separate program. Why then have the supporters of the Public Option not latched on to the idea of allowing all [READ MORE]

On Monday, August 31st, Congresswoman Lynne Woolsey held a townhall meeting on healthcare in Petaluma, Ca. The auditorium that the event was held was standing room only. The crowd was pretty well divided between pro government healthcare and pro free market private healthcare. In the parking lot prior to the event, C4Lers Art Dickinson, David Ewing, Roy Lamoreaux and I canvassed those in attendance with S. 604 petitions. We succesfully collected over 50 petitions within an hour or so. It is an easy sell. Congresswoman Lynne Woolsey was an early consponsor and so is Congressman Tom McClintock (a Ca Republican Favorite). Just depends on who you are talking to. Inside, Roy and I waited well over an hour to speak. First, on behalf of C4L, I thanked Congresswoman Lynne Woolsey for being an early co sponsor to HR 1207. Secondly, I asked her, as a believer in the need to audit the fed, and as a citizen of California, to urge our Senators, Boxer and Feinstein, to co sponsor S. 604. (it was exciting to hear how many folks in the auditorium hollered in agreement!!) I then, ask Lynne Woolsey, if she could give me any example of a private company successfully competing against a government company in the free market. She was unable to answer this. I then reminded her that, Medicare was once a government run company (public option) competing against private insurance companies. She loudly cheered, Medicare just rose to the top as the best provider. It is amazing how my Congresswoman saw no concern that a public option may end up just as Medicare has, a government run company with unlimited resources destroying all private competition. And bankrupt. But it was a successful night for the Campaign for Liberty. We collected S 604 petitions and spoke on the need to Audit the Fed to hundreds of concerned citizens. The above picture is from our local newspaper, the Press Democrat. Categories: Campaign For Liberty, Current Events, Monetary Policy, Congress Tags: |

As Matthew Heath mentioned in the announcement page, Campaign For Liberty is partnered with organizations all around the United States to petition support for S 604. I will be acting as a hub for collection of petitions for counties surrounding San Diego and surrounding counties including Imperial, Orange, and Riverside. If you'd like to help, but need some direction, don't hesitate to contact me. If you can't volunteer any time, go ahead and print the petition anyway and have your friends, family, or yourself sign and send it on in. I will be driving down to the San Diego office to hand deliver all petitions gathered by 4:00 pm on September 15th. This means that if you're going to mail me any collections, you'll need to do it by the 11th to be safe (I will provide a mailing address to those who contact me). The earlier your signatures are in the better, but we want as many as we can get; so for late collections, there will be a collection point on the 14th in the City of Riverside, and one on the 15th in San Diego. We especially need to hear from members in San Diego to help find a location. In case we needed it, i've created a forum thread so that we can coordinate between counties, as this blog is likely to be seen only by Riverside County members. Any other questions? Please feel free to message me or call my cell at 951-966-1825. Thanks! Ryan [Single Signer Petition] [Multi Signer Petiton]

On August 8th, 2009 Sacramento Campaign For Liberty held an event: Federal Reserve Sunshine Day. We were successful in collecting over 500 Audit The Fed petitions, distributing literature and promoting Campaign For Liberty through massive audio and visual exposure (see video below). Here's how we did it: Sacramento Campaign For Liberty holds Organizer's Meetings and General Meetings on a monthly basis. At our June Organizer's Meeting we discussed the idea of producing an event to promote H.R. 1207: Federal Reserve Transparency Act and S. 604: Federal Reserve Sunshine Act. At the end of quick brainstorming session we had a rough concept for our event:
Federal Reserve Sunshine Day, an outdoor event to be held in an accessible, high traffic, high visibility location for the specific purpose of promoting Federal Reserve transparency in a non-partisan manner. Knowing the propensity of liberty minded people such as ourselves to get side tracked by our passion for a wide range of issues, we made a very conscious decision to make this a single issue event.
How?
We divided the main responsibilities of coordinating Sunshine Day amongst the group organizers. The diverse skill sets and resources of our team including networking, communications, IT, graphic design, printing, business administration, and audio/video were put to good use. Above all our team, driven by the common goals of Campaign For Liberty, worked well together. We conducted ourselves professionally, respectfully, and in an organized fashion.
When and Where?
We immediately realized that the best way to maximize exposure was to strategically schedule Sunshine Day to coincide with a pre-existing event. On the second Saturday of each month of Summer the communities of Downtown and Midtown Sacramento hold an art-walk commonly known as Second Saturday, a long standing Sacramento tradition in which local art galleries, restaurants, bars and businesses participate by keeping extended hours and holding special events. Second Saturday is a draw not only for residents of Downtown and Midtown, but for residents of the greater Sacramento area as well, which made a perfect opportunity for exposure. Where would we host Sunshine Day? To capitalize on the pre-existing event we would have to pick a location centrally located between Downtown and Midtown Sacramento. We considered several ideas including approaching art galleries and local merchants for use of their space, renting a parking lot, or just simply setting up on a street corner. Several questions arose; Which local merchants should we approach? How much will it cost to rent a space? If we use public space are permits required? It was determined that the intersection of J St. and 16th St., two major thoroughfares which cut directly through the center of town, would be an ideal location. Here we had several options, on one corner a public parking lot exists, across the way a private lot, on another corner a converted industrial building which is home to several restaurants, bars, and merchants, and on another corner is the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium which is an historic venue occupying an entire city block. It was decided that the large area in front of the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium which faces J st. would be ideal for it's open space, high visibility, and presence. The following day phone calls and emails went out to the venue's management and they were quick to respond, permission to use the space was granted, no permits were required and best of all no fee was required. We followed up with the Auditorium Manager whom took us on a site walk and gave us the specs on setting up, after receiving his final permission and a firm handshake the deal was done.
Promotion
Custom designed, full color flyers were printed and distributed at our July General Meeting and were further distributed by individual members. Events were created via Facebook and Meetup, we posted the event on the Sacramento Campaign For Liberty website. Organizers attended Meetups held by other political groups in an effort to promote the event. We reached out to local media outlets (one of which wrote an article applauding our efforts, which was then picked up by lewrockwell.com). We also contacted the offices of our local representatives.
Preparation
Preparation for the event day commenced about a week beforehand. This included:
• Printing of petitions and flyers
• Audio and video playlist creation
• Printing of "Audit The Fed" t-shirts
• Procurement of a large format Campaign For Liberty banner
• Procurement of tents, tables, chairs
• Procurement of audio/visual equipment
• Procurement of power generator
• Procurement of miscellaneous office supplies
• Construction of banner frame
• Commercial Truck rental
Again, the resources and skills of the organizing team were instrumental in the procurement and preparation. We scheduled a conference call two days before Sunshine day to work out the final details.
Setup
We arrived at the event site at 8:00 AM on Saturday morning. Our event was scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM so we had ample time for setup and last minute details. We began with setting up the PA system, generator, tents and tables. Soon after, we erected our custom frame and Campaign For Liberty banner which immediately began to draw attention from passersby, the sound of car horns and cheers was inspirational. The next step was to fire up the PA system and soon thereafter the entire area was filled with audio; compelling speeches and interviews all related to the Federal Reserve along with songs related to money were played constantly for the rest of the day. Collateral materials were setup and a trip to the store was made. Setup was complete and we had an hour to spare on pizza, relaxation, and conversation with pedestrians.
Event
Folks started arriving 4:00 PM as scheduled, fellow C4L members, members of other liberty minded groups, friends and family members. As traffic picked up, more and more people started stopping by to sign petitions, learn about the Federal reserve, and find out what Campaign For Liberty was all about. Many liberty minded people showed up and generously offered to help in any way that they could, several took to the streets collecting over 500 petition signatures. The honks and cheers continued from passing traffic and throughout the duration of the event we had a constant stream of friendly visitors. Only a few negative comments and gestures were directed our way, which really goes to show that if you can present an issue in a peaceful, non-partisan manner and back it up with the common sense principles of liberty, it will resound among a diverse group of people. Freedom is popular.
What we learned and side notes
Assertive petitioning
We could have been more assertive in approaching passersby for petition collection. Most of us who were heavily involved with preparation and setup were side tracked socializing with other C4L members, this is not a bad thing at all, in fact I believe that the opportunity to connect with other members should not be wasted, in the future we will designate a team dedicated to collecting petitions. Additionally we would develop a simple and very brief script for petition gatherers to follow along with a quick pre-petitioning training, this would maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
Staying on topic
As I said before, keeping the focus on a single issue was our intent from the start of the planning process. Given many factors and we feel this was the most effective approach to achieving our objective. Although the organizing team understood the single issue principle, a few attendees showed up with signs that were completely outside of Campaign For Liberty's stated principles. We were quick to approach these people, politely explain our objective for that day and ask them not to display their signs. These people were understanding and complied without hesitation. This approach may seem counter intuitive to the liberty minded individual, but it is entirely appropriate considering that we were promoting a specific issue and representing an organization with stated principles.
Lead time
If at all possible, allow for at least two months time to promote an event. This means allowing for two full months of promotion after you have already set a date, secured a location, and created an agenda. Although we pulled this event off in less than two months total, we we're benefiting from the draw of a pre-existing event. In contacting different media outlets we were consistently told that they're events calendars were already full or that they did not have enough time to cover our event. (big thanks to RV Scheide at Sacramento News & Review for covering Sunshine Day).
Summary
Overall, the Sacramento Campaign For Liberty put on a great event with Federal Reserve Sunshine Day, especially when considering that this was the first event of this kind that we had attempted. We succeeded in our objective of promoting H.R. 1207 and S. 604 to a large number of people who may otherwise have never known about the diametric opposition to liberty intrinsic to the Federal Reserve system. We look forward to producing future events and continuing the fight for liberty and peace, posterity depends on it.

I had a very severe reaction yesterday when watching the N.H. patriot discuss open carry of firearms on a national TV show. This man open carried a pistol in a rally and the President was nearby. The commentator was abusive, condescending, righteous, and preachy. The person who carried the firearm - his right- tried (better then I ever could) to be composed and poised. I am 100% percent behind his right to bear arms. I must raise the following point. As a Ron Paul supporter and believer in liberty I want our movement to grow and be seen as reasonable. Our movement is not corporate (Thank God) and no one here is following another's orders. Part of exercising our rights are to exercise them with care. I do not agree with this persons actions, or the people in Arizona using the limelight as a place to show their second amendment right. I think that it allows our opponents to cast us on the "lunatic fringe" and therefore marginalize us. I think as a movement there is not one better point to grow from. I make the following suggestion. We need to be able to discuss our own ideas with others here. Feel them out see what others may say. I feel that this movement needs me and all of us but that it is bigger then me alone. Our feelings of liberty have been hidden for so long that sometimes we should bounce ideas off like minded people to look at all angles.

The Democratic Party agenda tends to be a mixture of socialism and corporatism, whereas Republicans probably emphasize corporatism and socialism. Obama's health care plan has always been a hybrid, as most interventionist polices are in a mixed economy. Perhaps in the longterm he wants to move toward as fully socialist a system as possible, but it is hard to know. We do know that the president would rather push something significant through than nothing. We also know that he has to play a game where corporate interests who want a captive market through mandated health care are happy, but so too are the progressive true believers in social democracy on the far left. Will he be able to do it? It appears as though Obama may be backing off the "public option"—a socialist health "insurance" scheme to "compete" with private enterprise-as the central element of the proposal. Although some progressives and Democrats claim they would not support a program without a "public option," Obama may be able to win them over with health-care co-ops, which would operate as non-profits with subsidies and support from the state. Despite the Democrats' insistence that all opposition to the plan is coming from big industry (unless it's rooted in "racism"), Big Health is actually largely behind Obama's general move toward more intervention. The drug companies are taking out many millions of dollars in advertising in support of Obamacare. The connection between big business and more regulation and government involvement should be no surprise. When Bush expanded Medicare, the drug companies of course cheered. (While some of his partisans denied that this was a bothersome element in the prescription drug program.) When the dust settles, I expect if a bill passes, it will involve massive intervention on behalf of the state with just enough to satisfy the biggest players in industry as well as enough bureaucratic expansion to please the left. What will be sold as a "compromise" will actually be, in some respects (though perhaps not all respects), the worst of all worlds: A further solidification of fascism in the health care sector. This means that any further disasters, reduced quality, shortages or climbing health care costs will continue to be blamed on the market and there will be another round of calls for more socialization a few years down the line. If we want true health care reform—and many opponents of the plan are doing a disservice by defending our very flawed system as "the best health care plan in the world" or a paragon of capitalism—we must see dramatic moves toward the free market. This would mean, among other things, eliminating the licensing of health care professionals, deregulating the insurance industry, undoing the unholy link between insurance and employment created by the tax code (while perhaps allowing pure tax credits for any health care expenditures-I see tax credits as a tricky issue), abolishing or greatly scaling back the Food and Drug Administration, which drives up prescription costs and has killed hundreds of thousands of Americans, rethinking the patent system for health care services and, ultimately, scrapping Medicare. On the last one, I'd favor immediate abolition as a matter of principle, but here's a gradualist reform I could live with: Get rid of the illusion of government-backed old-age medical insurance of any kind. It's a pay-as-you-go program, so it should be treated as one. The Medicare tax should be eliminated (not replaced by government savings accounts) and recipients of Medicare should be, in the transition, paid for out of the general fund. This would at least be honest accounting. Medicare is a welfare redistribution plan, not an insurance plan of any sort, and it must be treated as one. No one paying into the system would be under the illusion that the government will care for them years down the road. To lessen the burden and shrink the government's involvement, perhaps those receiving Medicare would be free to opt out of it in return for a huge reduction in their federal taxes. Also, to help with the transition, I like Ron Paul's point that we need to see government spending cut somewhere, and foreign expenditures are a great place to begin. Any legitimate reform will discernably take away the government's power over something significant and will scale back its size and involvement. That is the only antedote to our health care troubles, and the only true alternative to more socialism and fascism in American medicine.

Friends of Liberty, For those of you that don't know I am running for Congress in the special election for California's District 10 as candidate who has embraced the platform of the Campaign for Liberty and RetakeCongress. I am the only candidate calling for an end to the federal reserve and pulling our troops back from overseas missions with no end is sight (Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Japan, Germany) The Republican Liberty Caucus has recently endorsed me and you can read their press release below. This is the latest of several endorsements we have received which can be found at http://cliftforcongress.com/endorsements.html Absentee ballots began going out earlier this week. We have a great opportunity to win this election and add another congressional seat for liberty but I can only do it with your help. Please sign up to volunteer at http://CliftforCongress.com/volunteer.html and with the combined help of liberty activists throughout California we can flood this district with the message of freedom. Please vote for me in online polls as well at http://halfwaytoconcord.com (unlimited votes allowed) and http://alamedagop.org (1 vote per browser) to help increase exposure with the click of a mouse. For Liberty, For Immediate Release: The Republican Liberty Caucus of California has endorsed Gary Clift for Congress. Due to Ellen Tauscher's resignation as California's 10th Congressional District Representative, an open primary election will be held on September 1st. Mrs. Tauscher relinquished her congressional seat after being appointed undersecretary of state for arms control. Of the 11 candidates running for the 10th Congressional District, Gary Clift is the right choice for Congress, standing for our Individual Rights, Free Enterprise and Limited Government. "The financial future of our country is at risk if the Federal Government follows California's lead. Federal government has grown too big and expenditures greatly exceed tax revenues. This cannot continue. We need to reduce federal government by cutting the waste and mis-management. One of my first actions in Congress will be to cosponsor HR 1207 which aims to audit the Federal Reserve and make government transparent with our tax dollars. This is a priority among my many issues," states Gary Clift. Absentee ballots for the 10th Congressional District special election will be mailed this week. It is expected that better than half of all ballots cast will be absentee ballots. The RLC CA encourages support for Gary Clift for Congress by volunteering now. Please contact Gary Clift (www.cliftforcongress.com) for more information. The Clift campaign has requested volunteers for phone banking. Phone bank volunteers do not need to live in California's 10th Congressional district. "If we Liberty and Constitutional Republicans truly want to restore our Constitutional Republic, we must stand up and support candidates who will take our cause to the halls of Congress. Gary Clift is just that man. Support your freedoms by supporting Gary Clift; It is high time Liberty and Constitutional Republicans get elected. This special election for the 10th Congressional District is a unique opportunity for Liberty, don't hesitate," commented RLC CA Chairman Matt Heath http://www.rlcca.org/

The Sacramento Campaign For Liberty is holding an event on August 8th, 2009 at the Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento: Federal Reserve Sunshine Day. In an effort to maximize our exposure, this event was planned to coincide with the monthly Sacramento Second Saturday Art Walk. The general purpose of the event is to spread awareness of the lack of transparency of the Federal Reserve. The specific purpose of this event is to promote H.R. 1207: Federal Reserve Transparency Act and S. 604: Federal Reserve Sunshine Act, by collecting petition signatures urging Rep. Doris Matsui (CA District 5) to co-sponsor H.R. 1207 and urging Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein of California to co-sponsor S. 604. Currently Rep. Tom McClintock (CA District 4) and Rep. Dan Lungren (CA District 3) have both co-sponsored H.R. 1207, and as a sign of our appreciation we have been in contact with the respective offices of both Representatives with an invite to appear at our event so that we may publicly thank them for their support of this important legislation. Dear Mr. Smith:
Thank you for writing to express your opposition to the ratification of the Inter-American Convention Against Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives, and Other Related Materials (CIFTA). I appreciate hearing from you on this topic and welcome the opportunity to respond.
While I understand your concerns about the ratification of CIFTA, I strongly believe that the U.S. should act promptly to take up and ratify this convention. For many years, I have been concerned about the proliferation offirearms worldwide. From Afghanistan to Iraq, Bosnia, Rwanda, and Haiti, the proliferation of firearms and
Specifically, the illicit trafficking of firearms from the U.S. has helped to exacerbate recent violence
Again, thank you for writing. While we do not necessarily agree on this particular issue, your views are important to me, and I hope that you will continue to write on matters of importance to you. Should you have any further comments or questions, please feel free to contact my Washington, D.C. office at (202) 224-3841. The Business Insider recently interviewed Congressman Ron Paul regarding his solutions to the economic collapse, which includes a 6+ minute video interview. During the Q&A Paul discusses how he would have responded to the current economic crisis and how the Obama administration is handling it. The article starts off a bit biased however there's a nice quote at the end:

Well, it has been a week since the Campaign for Liberty Regional Conference in Las Vegas; and what a great time we had. A large number of Californian C4Lers converged on Las Vegas. Friday night was highlighted with speeches from Tom Woods and Ron Paul.
Saturday and Sunday was chalk full of valuable training. Between Mike Rothfeld, Kirk Shelley, John Tate and Jeff Greenspan, those in attendance learned learned how to successfully win in grassroots politics. Lessons covered the nature of politics, tactics, strategies, media, vetting of candidates and meeting and caucus presence. I know I am now better prepared to win in my precinct and county.
Sunday afternoon gave California a chance to hold its first statewide Campaign for Liberty meeting
We had representatives from counties all over the state; Alameda, Fresno, LA, Orange, Placer, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernadino, San Diego, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and Sonoma. Californians had a chance to listen to C4L leaders from around the state speak about their successes and stories.
There are a lot of exciting things going on with the Liberty Movement in California. C4L members are having great success with organizing rallies, exhibitor booths at gun shows and tea parties; and a large number of members are either attending or are very interested in attending and getting involved with their local political parties. We had a great chance to sit down and network. Watch out California politics. Now is the time to step up and become a local coordinator. Local coordinator development throughout all of California is the key to saving our Bear Republic. Becoming a local coordinator allows you to receive FREE online grassroots political training as well as a 20% discount at the C4L online store. The online training is an essential tool for winning back your precinct and district. You will learn all you need to know about the who's, what's, where's and why's about your area. California's Campaign for Liberty is roaring to go, become a local coordinator today and Be a part of it. Click here for additional pictures. Courtesy of Brennan Westerson. A special thanks goes out to Martin Anding, Allan Bartlett, Adam Cabrera, John Dennis, Andrew Dirks, David Ewing, Jordan Shollenbarger , Robert Vaughn, Steve Wayte, Brennan Westersen, Dave Whitaker and Rob Woodard for all your help during the weekend. It couldn't have been so successful without you. Great Job! Categories: Ron Paul, Campaign For Liberty, Education, Grassroots News, Just For Fun, Revolution Tags: |

My name is Gary Clift and I am running for Congress (http://CliftforCongress.com) in California's District 10, for a special election scheduled on September 1st. I am running as a Ron Paul Republican on the platform of States' Rights, Individual Liberty, and Fiscal Responsibility. Like Ron Paul's son, Rand Paul, I have endorsed the platform at http://www.RetakeCongress.com and I am listed on the website as the only California candidate who has embraced this platform. I am also listed as a candidate on http://RonPaulRepublican.com; if I win, it should encourage many more liberty candidates to run in California for the 2010 congressional elections. A majority of California voters define themselves as socially liberal and fiscally conservative and it is about time California sends a representative to Washington who embraces this ideology. I have pledged to cosponsor Ron Paul's Audit the Fed Bill (H.R. 1207) when elected to Congress so I can help make sure this historic piece of legislation is passed. Because this is a special election, turnout is expected to be extremely low (especially since the May 2009 Congressional special election turnout in CA was under 25% and that had statewide ballot measures on it). We have a unique opportunity to show a strong showing for a liberty candidate and encourage other candidates in this state and across the country to endorse the platform of the Campaign for Liberty and RetakeCongress.com. Absentee voting starts August 3rd and absentee voting doubled ballot voting in the last special election for this district so all the support you can give me in July will be CRUCIAL to our victory. Imagine liberty members from all across California fighting together to win this low turnout election! This will be the easiest congressional seat the liberty movement has ever gotten if you will support me and it gives you a chance to be represented by a congressman who will actually fight for our cause (plus if we win this special election, incumbents have over a 90% chance of being reelected so this will likely become a permanent congressional seat for the liberty). I realize I am outside many of your congressional districts, but that is all the reason why I need your help more than ever; there aren't any other congressional races in California so phone support from multiple districts will allow the message of liberty to flood this election and provide momentum to help liberty candidates in California for 2010. Let's show our opponents that liberty has a determination unmatched by any other movement!
What you can do to help us (I greatly appreciate ANY level of support):
1) Go to my website at http://CliftforCongress.com and subscribe to my email list. 2) Vote for us to be on Freedom Watch at 2) PHONE CALLING is what we need. Most voters are still unaware that an election is even happening because of the lack of interest in a special election. ANY time you and your c4l groups, meetup groups, or other friends you know can set aside to help me phone voters is crucial and because of the small projected turnout, even the smallest amount of time will make a HUGE difference. If you prefer canvassing houses door to door this would also help us greatly. Please subscribe to my volunteer list at http://CliftforCongress.com 3) Your time phone calling is the most valuable thing you can do for us, but If you can spare a little cash it would be greatly appreciated; Please spread this money bomb to everyone you know and donate to ensure the voice of liberty is the loudest in this special election. Thank you.
For Liberty,

Greetings Paulistas, Twenty -six hard working activists came to Huntington Beach's annual mega-birthday bash to promote freedom and liberty. The weather was perfect and the crowd was easily in the high thousands. We set up our C4L table, tent, and our mega-Paul/C4L banners right on the parade route. Many of our usual cast of activists arrived, however what made this one great was the turnout of several new and eager activists. I want to express my gratitude to: Ron and Staci and their friendly canines; Blair and his wife and two little tots; Chris and wife Stephani; and Rob and his well-behaved boy. It turned out to be quite a family affair, and at the end of day, I would not doubt that these new participants where feeling more patriotic than ever before. I know I did. Enjoy the pics below and let us grow our local family of Paulistas into the millions. http://i573.photobucket.com/albums/ss171/piconeup/canopyxsigns.jpg http://i573.photobucket.com/albums/ss171/piconeup/groupxband.jpg http://i573.photobucket.com/albums/ss171/piconeup/groupxsigns.jpg http://i573.photobucket.com/albums/ss171/piconeup/600_9534119.jpg http://i573.photobucket.com/albums/ss171/piconeup/corner2.jpg http://i573.photobucket.com/albums/ss171/piconeup/revolution.jpg

My personal paraphrase of Senator Dianne Fienstein (D-CA): "I have no choice... I HAVE to disobey over 93% of my constituents and spend billions of taxpayer money that they'll never see again."
Oh yea, btw Dianne... you voted for the bill, money came out of thin-air, and Californians are STILL hurting. Nice way to screw taxpayers twice!

This is my first post here. I am on the Executive Committee of the California Libertarian Party and the Vice-Chair of the Monterey County Libertarians. I just got the official word today that my Ron Paul resolution passed! So I wanted to announce the good news that the California Libertarian Party is now officially endorsing HR 1207. The Press releases for this important endorsement will be in the papers next week. I realize that there are now 245 co-sponsors.
Motion to Endorse Ron Paul's H.R. 1207 Bill by the California LP
Currently there are 237 Congressman and Congresswoman that have co-sponsored this bill that calls for a full audit of the Federal Reserve Bank so we can see what is done with our tax dollars. I propose the California State Libertarian Party officially endorse this bill, release a press statement and encourage all of it's members to write their representatives and urge them to co-sponsor it right away. If 290 congress members would sign on to this bill it would be exempt from an Executive Veto and would then likely pass. I feel we should ad our muscle to this bill right away and help our single Libertarian Party member in Congress.

THE CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE INTENDS TO VOTE TODAY TO RAISE YOUR TAXES BY BILLIONS OF DOLLARS! THIS IS AN OUTRAGE AND FLIES IN THE FACE OF CLEARLY EXPRESSED ELECTORAL OPINION. THE POLITICIANS HEARD YOU LOUD AND CLEAR WHEN YOU DEFEATED MASSIVE TAX HIKES IN LAST MONTH'S SPECIAL ELECTION...NOW THE MAJORITY OF POLITICIANS IN SACRAMENTO ARE RESPONDING TO YOU BY TELLING YOU THAT YOU SHOULD SHUT UP AND GO ALONG LIKE THE SHEEP THEY THINK YOU ARE. THEY THINK THEY KNOW BETTER THAN YOU AND THEY ARE GOING TO TRY TO INCREASE YOUR TAXES REGARDLESS OF YOUR CLEARLY EXPRESSED OPPOSITION. IT'S HIGH TIME THE POLITICIANS IN CALIFORNIA UNDERSTOOD THAT THEY ARE "ELECTED" OFFICIALS AND THAT NO ONE HAS CROWNED THEM OUR RULERS. WE NEED YOUR HELP TO COME DOWN TO THE CAPITOL TODAY OR TO CALL THE CAPITOL TO SUPPORT THOSE WHO ARE FIGHTING AGAINST THESE TAXES AND TO LET THOSE WHO VOTE FOR SUCH TAXES KNOW THAT WE INTEND TO END THEIR POLITICAL CAREERS AT THE BALLOT BOX. _________________________________________________________ We have been informed by our contact with the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association that California politicians will vote TODAY (WEDNESDAY) on BILLIONS IN TAX HIKES! $2 BILLION IN OIL TAXES. With gas prices already approaching $3 a gallon, this will hurt anyone who drives $1.50 A PACK CIGARETTE TAX INCREASE. This scheme would try to make smokers pay for the politician's mistakes. In reality, people will find ways around it or stop smoking. When the revenue does not materialize, then the pressure will be on to raise other taxes. $15 CAR TAX HIKE. Car tax increases got Gray Davis recalled and were a part of the reason Prop. 1A was rejected. What part of no don't they understand? AND MANY OTHERS.... I know many of us work and can't make it to the Capitol physically, but you can pick up the phone and make some calls. Your calls do count. Yesterday, June 20th 2009 I approached Congressman Mike Thompson about HR 1207 and if he would co-sponsor the bill. Representative Mike Thompson had a pasta dinner last night at the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts. The event was a fundraiser to help get Thompson re-elected and throw support towards Obama's new Socialistic, government heath care proposal. The main talking points at the event from the Congressman was about Heathcare and how the children are the future that are going to inherit. What a cop-out answer...you see they say it's for the children, but that's the lie that is spewed amongst our representatives to enforce that they are humanitarians and caring loving individuals. The underlying backdoor reason for legislation in the name of "the children" is really about control. I common manipulative move most representatives use. Besides what was discussed, later in the event I approached Rep. Thompson about The Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009 and if he would co-sponsor the bill. At first he stated that he had as of yet not reviewed the Bill and claimed that he had never heard of it. I then engaged in trying to give him the Bill, the US code which would be amended and the list of co-sponsors. He denied the documents and said to give them to his Sonoma County rep and then he would consider it(He was busy at a pasta dinner and I guess he didn't want to hold on to it). I further elaborated that there was currently 237 co-sponsors, 67 which are Democrats, and neighbor Congressman Lyn Woolsey, George Miller, and Rep. McClintock have co-sponsored it. I also discussed how Senator Bernie Sanders was recently denied transparency from Federal Reserve Chairman when questioned in a committee hearing about where the TARP funds exactly went and what banks were lifted up. Mr. Thompson commented and said "Oh yeah, we should audit them" when I re-enforced that he should co-sponsor. I was very surprised to here this from him and will hold him to that statement. After speaking with him, I was directed to this lovely woman who was engaged in helping me with my needs. I gave he the HR 1207 documents and left her my information. She said that this bill would go to the Congressman's D.C staff and reviewed over with Mr. Thompson before he can make a decision to co-sponsor or not. I thanked her and went on my way. If you live the 1st Congressional District of California, Rep. Thompson is making a couple of appearances. Here is his website for more info details.http://www.mikethompsonforcongress.com/event His next event is another Pasta Dinner fundraiser in Mendocino County on Saturday, July 11th. So That is my experience and first ever try at citizen journalism. I hope those of you who have not gotten your congressman to co-sponsor the bill, go out there and pressure your congressman. Go to their events, call them up, e-mail them, or best yet Fax them. The fax gets right and their face and they have to look at it. They can't delete a fax! This past weekend local chapters of the Campaign for Liberty came together in Costa Mesa, California to promote the C4L, state legislation, and HR 1207.
Volunteers from various local C4L chapters came out in full force, giving up their Saturday and Sunday to help promote the cause of liberty. We interacted with hundreds of gun show attendees, informing them about the Campaign for Liberty, California legislation that would severely restrict gun shows (SB 585) and ammunition (AB 962), and the federal legislation to audit the Federal Reserve, HR 1207. Many people were interested in HR 1207 (as well as the state legislation) and signed petitions to be delivered to their Representative.
The previous month we had a similar event at the Gun Show in Ontario, California, with similar successes. Special thanks to Freedom Frank, who organized our presence in Costa Mesa. Also special thanks these great volunteers: Pete D., the Winklers from Victorville, Virginia G. from LA County, and all the rest-David S., Tom, Todd, Tilden, Oscar, Roger, Jarret, Mr. Choquette - all eager to defend the 2nd amendment! (P.S. Roger made a really cool spreadsheet for which Rep in California had/had not supported HR 1207)
(Wish we had a photo of our nifty 7'x4' banner but it was too windy so we took it down) Thanks to all for organizing and working this event. Looking forward to our next collaboration! I strongly encourage all of you to consistently attend your county's Republican Committee meetings. The local republican parties are in desperate need of some grassroots activism. The republican party needs to re-establish itself within its original constitutional boundaries, and with our participation, we can get some genuine conservatives in office in this next election cycle. But we must ACT NOW if we want to gain the momentum needed for success. Your local Republican Committee already has all of the organizational channels needed for informing the county, but it lacks in its volume of participants. That's where we come in. We can provide the volume of participation needed to win back our localities. Here in Nevada County, myself and two other C4L members have been attending the monthly Republican Committee meetings since January. I was elected as an official member in Nevada County's 5th Assembly District, solely on the fact that there were no other attendees from my district that were on the committee. One of the other two C4L members expressed his interest in becoming an alternate (there were no vacancies) for one of the official members in his own assembly district. He ended up becoming an official member because the original member became indefinitely absent. A vacant seat is almost a guaranteed membership for anyone who is willing to accept the responsibility. If you consistently express attentive interest during your county's committee meetings, as well as participate in local events, you will eventually become an official member. This grassroots movement has been, and continues to be, far more energetic and passionate than the democrats and republicrats within the standardized two (one) party system. It is our relentless persistence, our slow and steady activism that will win against those who apathetically engage in the motions of your local politics. Pay less attention to national and state politics, and devote more attention to the politics in your own county or locality. National and state-level politics are distant and difficult to influence. On the other hand, your local political scene holds the prospect of tangible success, and is quite susceptible to your persistent activism, which will allow you to influence and direct local political decisions. Try to focus on the issues and points that you and the other committee members agree on (lower taxes, no bailouts, smaller government, etc). If your local Republican Committee has genuine conservatives attending, then you will most likely agree 80% of the time. Focus and Act on the common grounds. The Campaign for Liberty continues to take this nation from the ground up, county by county. Join us. Grant Nunnink Categories: Republican Party, Grassroots News, Revolution Tags: |

Last weekend June 6th and 7th was the Orange County gun show at the OC Fair Grounds. C4L had a table there at the show. It was alot of fun and meet some really nice people. I also want to thank some people who came out and helped with the table: Patricia and her husband and friend, Virgina and Husband, Tom, Todd, Adam, Rogar, David, Tildon and his bother, Oscar, and of course Frank. We had petitions of HR 1207 and also had Nancy Pelosi petitions. Here in Orange County we only have 2 congressmen not co-sponsored HR 1207 they are Loretta Sanchez CA-47 (D) and Gary Miller CA-42 (R). On the table we had some fliers on California gun legislation AB 962 and SB 585 real bad bills for gun owners. We also had info on SB 60 the REAL ID ACT of 2005 now in the Assembly ready for a vote! So we had a real good time getting people to sign the petition for HR 1207 over 100 petition signed and for Nancy Pelosi petitions well got about 40 signed. We also gave out C4L info. Wow gun owners really don't like Pelosi "I wonder why" If there's a gun show in your area or a coin show, go get a table and get some new people. Like we always say " PEOPLE LIKE FREEDOM " Thanks Pete Categories: Ron Paul, Campaign For Liberty, Education, Civil Liberties, Grassroots News, Action Item, Federal Legislation, Just For Fun, Current Events, Revolution, State Legislation, Trade Tags: |

"It's time we audited the bankers who control our money supply to find out where the trillions are going - certainly not to the homeowners in Torrance who want to save their homes from foreclosure; certainly not to the schools in Los Angeles, where an economic draft and dwindling college funds leave my graduating seniors with limited options. When elected to Congress, I will work to shine a light on the closed-door meetings of the Wall Street elite. As a first step, we will audit the books to empower hard-working Americans. We need transparency and we need it now."

Hey Folks, SB 60 bill passed out of the Appropriations Committee 7 yes, 5 no, 1 did not vote and is on it's way to the full California State Senate for a vote. They could vote on SB 60 this coming week! This bill, if passed, puts into place the REAL ID ACT of 2005 aka the NATIONAL ID CARD. This will have more of your personal info on it and it will also have a microchip in it. The DMV has said it's going to cost the state over 500 million dollars to put into place and the Feds are not going to help with the money on this, and the State will have to hire 600 more state workers. Do we really need more State workers? Now is the time for action! Please contact your California State Senator and tell them to vote NO ON SB 60. Also, please pass this on to your friends and family to do the same! Saving Our Republic is the key mission of the Liberty Movement. Electing Ron Paul as president would have been a huge victory towards once again having our Constitutional Republic. Auditing the Fed and ultimately Ending the Fed would also be monumental victories. The balance of power on Ending the Fed ultimately lies with Congress. Therefore, a real tangible goal for the Liberty Movement must be to elect more Ron Pauls to Congress. Lets face it, most Congressmen are either millionaires or were once school board trustees. Unless the Liberty Movement can find millionaires who can self fund their campaigns for Congress, we must begin to find our local grassroots leaders. The Liberty Movement needs to find its local grassroots leaders to get elected as your Congressmen, by starting today and getting elected our guys and gals on school boards and on party central committees. If the Liberty Movement is serious about taking back the halls of Congress, than we must first begin to take back our local governance. Start attending local meetings, school districts, water districts, town councils, political party meetings, etc... . This is where politics start, in your backyard. Find local issues that matter to your neighbors and community. Be your community leader, by bringing issues that concern your neighbors to your local meetings. As time goes by and you are a regular attendee, get a seat as a voting member and STAND UP for your people. Bring back a true Republican form of government and be a public servant to your constituency. The Liberty Movement must now take back local governance if we are to Save Our Republic! After Ron Pauls defeat in the primary last February, I started to regularly attend my local school board meetings. Just a few months ago, I took my oath (the real oath as prescribed in the California Constitution) of office as a trustee in that school district. Below is an a letter I sent out to the school district where I am a Trustee. Please take a look.
We must take the fight to our local governing boards and committees if we have a prayer in ever taking back Washington DC. Till next time!

While it's important that everyone nationwide contact their Representative to support HR 1207, for us in California we need to contact specific Congresspeople to get HR 1207 passed in committee. If HR 1207 does not make it out of committee then it will never get to the House for a vote. And we want a recorded vote! So, people of California, this is what to do: 1. Contact EACH of the 7 California Representatives who sit on the House Financial Services committee. 2. Be sure to WRITE to them, as according to GovTrack.us, this is the most best way to be effective (versus email, fax, or a call). 3. Consider using the sample letter below!! 4. Join a local Petition Push, which organizes constituents and their petitions in support of HR 1207 and then delivers them - personally - to their local Congressperson! (If you're in District 26, represented by David Dreier, please contact me!)
WHO TO CONTACT: Joe Baca, district 43
SAMPLE LETTER (feel free to edit to your liking): Dear Representative [Representative's Name Goes Here],

Friends of Liberty, Members of Campaign for Liberty in the Sonoma County Republican Central Committee, Alameda County Republican Central Committee, Contra Costa County Republican Central Committee and the Republican Liberty Caucus of California passed resolutions in support of H.R.1207 similar to the C4L resolution. Currently the Campaign for Liberty is circulating petitions throughout the nation. This video (posted below) with supporters from the Tennessee C4L submitting signed petitions to their representative was pasted on by a friend and C4L member in the Alameda County Republican Central Committee. If you're a registered Democrat, I urge you to contact your central committees in your county and ask them to pass a similar resolution! Let Freedom Ring! Click on the links below. This coming Tuesday, April 28th, C4L will be holding its second official Mass Action Day by doing a "National Petition Push" in support of HR 1207! Cosponsors are pouring onto the bill faster than the Library of Congress' site can keep up (We're up to 92 now, but the listing won't show until early next week.), and, with Jesse's visits to over 50 Capitol Hill offices this week garnering very positive results, now is the perfect time to make our voices heard! Our VA national office is flooded with over 40,000 of your petitions, and next week we're taking them where they belong - to congressional offices all over the Hill. Members of C4L's national staff will be joined by volunteers from all over the DC area to deliver these petitions. If you're in the DC area and are interested in joining us on Tuesday, contact Allison Gibbs for more information. But why hog all the fun?? We're asking Campaign for Liberty members all across America to join our Petition Push and drop your gathered petitions off at your representative's district offices this Tuesday. Our state coordinators are busy planning for this Action Day, so be sure to contact your state coor. and let them know you plan to participate. Keep an eye on our Recent Member Posts section today, as many of them have already blogged about their plans for Tuesday. Also, you can take advantage of this weekend to gather even more signatures. We've prepared a new streamlined petition to help you introduce the Audit idea to those who are unfamiliar with the Fed or the other issues involved. Curious to see if your rep has cosponsored yet? Click here to find out, and be sure to send along an email either urging them to cosponsor if they haven't or thanking them for their stand if they have. This is a great way to get involved with Tuesday's "Push" even if you can't make it to their offices. And don't worry about having to scramble before Tuesday to participate - we'll be doing more of these in the coming months. Many of you have already gathered lots of petitions, so now is a good time to take them to the offices. For state coordinator contact info and representative's district office addresses, visit your state page. Make plans now to participate on Tuesday, even if you only have time to drop off a petition or two on your way to or from work. And be sure to take lots of pictures and videos of your participation! Let's make our voices heard and continue this great momentum we've built. Like Jesse wrote yesterday, we can win. More than just a philosophical exercise, this is a battle we can take all the way to the House floor... and beyond. Update: Thanks to Steven Vincent for the link to End the Fed's "Melt the Switchboard" Event in support of HR 1207 scheduled for Monday! Call on Monday, show up on Tuesday! Quit watching the 5:30 news. Quit watching CNN, Fox and all the other national news. OK, if you have to get your fix of national news, make sure that you are devoting at least the same amount of time to local news. And (more importantly) make sure that you devote twice that amount of time to being a C4L Precinct Leader. The fact is, all this national news is a distraction. It keeps you focused on big scary stories and things that you can do nothing about. The big stories cultivate a sense of despair and futility. People begin to feel that there are so many big, huge problems that are all out of our hands and there's nothing we can do but sit down and watch while everything implodes. I know, I know. The economy is troubling; Congress is maddening; you hate the wars, the Fed and the UN. But by focusing so much time and energy on those big national issues that are out of our control, you miss out on the things you can change. Because the fact is, you'll never solve the problems of the war, the Fed, Congress or the economy until you first solve the problems in your own community. And that's something that you can do. Don't think for a moment that you can get a Congressman to pay any attention to you if your City Councilman doesn't even know who you are. You can't get rid of the bad Congressmen if you can't even convince two or three of your neighbors to change the their vote. So you start changing things in your neighborhood, your city, your county. That kind of change is not only the most meaningful, it's doable. But not if you're watching the news. Categories: Current Events, Revolution, Social Issues, World Affairs, Economy Tags: |

Now that the party convention cycles are over, it's time to get down to business. What is the business we are getting down to? Re-lighting the fire of 1776 and retaking this nation door by door, block by block, precinct by precinct. No top-down heirarchical organization is needed to get this job done. The people who know your neighboorhood, your neighbors better than anyone is you! If you don't know them, here's your chance. If you have not already joined the Campaign for Liberty as a Precinct Leader, please do so today. The Precinct Leader program will provide you with tools and training to use as you meet your neighbors, identify those who believe consistently with us, and bring them over to our side. Winning a nation will not happen on our keyboards, or in newspapers or on TV. We have close to 80 years of socialist indoctrination to overcome. That will be done by human to human interaction. A handshake. A civil discussion. Building personal relationships based on trust. It will not occur overnight. Some people will need to hear your message two, three or four times. But step one is to join the precinct leader program. Then identify all other Ron Paul supporters and get them to join. Please join today. http://www.campaignforliberty.com May the Spirit of '76 burn brightly. Light the fire! Categories: Campaign For Liberty Tags: |

One of the only few remaining Off Highway Use (OHV) areas that we visit often (in Southern California) is called Johnson Valley and located adjacent to Twentynine Palms - and the US Marines want it. They think it would make a wonderful training area. There have been numerous studies, scoping meetings and the public comment period is nearly over.
I (along with dozens of others) have spent many hours working with the Marines to try to find a resolution to the situation without losing Johnson Valley. The most attractive option to them (even over and above taking Johnson Valley) is de-designating a portion of not prime wilderness area. This wilderness area was never intended to be included as wilderness area, in fact, it has been used in WWII and in the 60's as Military Training already. Plus, they can do air combat training there, whereas the area above Johnson Valley is in the flight path of the LA Basin. So this is a win win.
If the Marines closed JV, it would have a far reaching socio-economic impact. Not only the users would be affected, but the local merchants that folks shop at in and around the area, as well as the manufacturers that make offroad parts, the filming industry uses it regularly as well. Plus, being the largest OHV area in California, closure would overburden the rest of our already narrowing offroad options. Especially in this time of economic uncertainty, this closure would be devastating.
The Marines cannot request to de-designate this area without our help. They cannot include this are in the studies unless it gets de-designated. This petition will go on to congress after the Marines are done with it.
This is the second petition that we have put together for this effort. The first, while successful, wasn't specific enough. After several hours on the phone with various people, we were guided in drafting this new petition. So far it has been very successful, but we need all the help we can get.
Please sign and distribute this petition for us :) All public comments must be in before January 31st. We only have a bit over a week to get as many signatures as possible!
LOVE LIVE FREEDOM!

) over 4 different groups got together at the corner of Haven Ave. and Foothill Blvd. in Rancho Cucamonga, CA to protest big government, auto bailouts, and government health care. There was also many people waving signs encouraging others to support HR 1207. There was around 400 people in attendance at the peak of the rally/protest.
