This is a very dangerous bill that will change the system of government, taxing and spending in Arizona.

Written by State Senator Thayer Verschoor, Mesa:

SB1003 was written with enacting language to give unchecked authority for unelected appointees of the governor to raise taxes in the form of fees across a broad spectrum of our everyday lives.

It has never been good policy to give the governor and her appointees this absolute unchecked authority. Our Constitution is clear that taxing and appropriation authority rests solely with the legislature.  SB1003 would not even have given the legislature minimal oversight over the increases OR the use of the funds raised.

I have made my position known for many weeks IN WRITING to the Senate leadership that I would not support any legislation that ceded this constitutional authority to the governor and her appointees.  For example, if the governor wants to give 1 million dollars to his /her favorite cause, all he /she would have to do is raise the price of a duplicate driver's license by "only" one dollar. The legislature could do little more than complain about it.

It is important to emphasize that once this authority is granted, it would be nearly impossible to return the authority to its proper place.  All the Governor would have to do is veto the legislation.

Senate leadership complains about the Governor having authority to appropriate twenty BILLION DOLLARS in federal funds that come to the state without any legislative over sight and they complain about the abuse of Executive orders.  Now, they have decided through SB1003 to expand the power of the Governor to raise and distribute funds without approval or oversight of the legislature.  Their actions beg the question whether they have the will to either pass the increases themselves or cut the spending to deal with this budget deficit.

Finally, President Burns knows that SB1003 skirts around the intent of Proposition 108 which was passed by the voters.  He knows that Prop 108 requires the legislature to get 2/3rd of the vote in both houses of the legislature to increase taxes and fees.

Please call (602) 926-5999 or email your Senator and Representatives.  Ask them to Vote NO on SB1003 that would give fee (tax) setting authority to the governor and his/her appointed, unelected agency heads."

A Local Coordinator is a volunteer who is willing to go door to door in their precinct or neighborhood regarding an issue that affects their neighborhood.  The times that people will go door to door are generally prior to an election to hand out information on candidates or issue that will be on the ballot, when there is a community or neighborhool issue that you want to raise awareness about, or just a neighborhood bar-b-que.  Local Coordinators are the most valuable people to make a change in elections.  There are 180,000 precincts in the country and if we can get 180,000 people who are willing to be Local Coordinators it will be very easy to make a difference in elections.

For instance, if your county has 30 precincts and you have 25-50 people who agree on something that have stepped up to be Local Coordinators it is very easy to get information to people.  We all are aware of the problems with the talking box (aka television) and newspapers.  Many times they give an opinions and not facts but the people who watch or read them seem to think that they are seeing or hearing facts.

Let's use the example of a new road.  If a county wants to put in a new road for the benefit of a company in a neighboring county  the currently elected county officials discuss it and how much it will cost.  There are usually a few articles in the local paper about it and maybe a talking head will mention it once or twice.  The request for the funding is put on the municipal ballot and people are asked to vote for or against it.  Just how much information do the voters really have about the issue?  Because this is not really a partisan issue the republican and democratic precinct leaders are probably not going to do any canvassing of their precincts to provide information to the people.  Republican and Democratic precinct leaders mainly canvass to keep or get back their party's power or dominance.

If there were liberty minded Local Coordinators who would go door to door with information regarding the project the voters would be better informed.  Maybe provide a copy of the budget for the highway that shows where the county intends to get the funds from, information that shows the layout of the proposed road, information about who benefits the most from the road, and information about what property the county will intend to take through emininent domain for the project.  This information is needed by voters to make informed decisions and they are not going to get it from partisan parties so it us up to us, We The People.  The Local Coordinator would also remind people when the election day was and maybe even offer to provide a ride for their neighbors who don't drive.

The Campaign For Liberty Local Coordinator program has great tools and teaching programs to help people learn about their precinct.  While not necessary they are EXTEMELY helpful as you learn how many voters you have, how many people vote in the general election verses the municipal elections, which way your neighborhood generally votes, etc.  As an active Local Coordinator your neighbors will start to look to you as a source of information after you have canvassed your area a few times.  They will recognize you and most are happy that someone has stepped up and is willing to provide them with information that they don't get from the talking box or dying newspapers.

How many of you walked your neighborhood to hand out information regarding Ron Paul?  If you could walk your neighborhood to give out information regarding the presidential elections why can't you walk your neighborhood to give out information regarding local issues that directly affect you and your neighbors?  To restore constitutional principles to our country we must to restore order to our local governing bodies.  To make our voices heard we must stand together.  As we work on our local areas as a Local Coordinator we can and will re-awaken the spirit of our country and remind people that what made our country great was less government, not more.  Local elections are extremely important to fix the foundation of our government.

Please join the Campaign For Liberty and become a Local Coordinator in your neighborhood.   If you are a dues-paying member, Click here to complete your enrollment in the Local Coordinator program!  If you are already a Local Coordinator please take advantage of the tools available to you on your dashboard under the Local Coordinator Tools link.

Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.  You can message me here if your are logged into the Campaign For Liberty site or here if you are not a member yet.  The R3volution continues with people taking action.

Will the national government put American health care under the control of Congress and Washington bureaucrats?  What will bureaucratic decisions made in Washington mean forelderly patients?  What will happen to the quality of health services in the US?  What will happen to doctor-patient relationships?  Is there any way to stop the march of government-controlled health care?

Closer to home, will Gov. Jan Brewer succeed in getting the Legislature to put a billion-dollar sales tax increase on the Arizona ballot?  What would that mean for taxpayers?  What would that mean for recipients of government services?  What will that mean for education reform?  How will Arizona taxpayers respond?

You have a lot of questions for your state legislators and for policy experts.  And we’ve got some answers.  Thursday night, September 24, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, the Arizona Chapter ofAmericans for Prosperity Foundation is sponsoring a Taxpayer Town Hall meeting in the Community Room at the Gila Community College Payson campus, 201 N. Mud Springs Road, about a mile east of the intersection of the Beeline Highway and 260.

Map:  ss="yshortcuts">http://web.userinstinct.com/462983-gila-community-college-payson-camp
us.htm

Confirmed speakers will include Senator Sylvia Allen, AFPF Arizona director Tom Jenney, health care policy expert Dr. Byron Schlomach of the Goldwater Institute, and education policy expert Dr. Matthew Ladner of the Goldwater Institute.  AFPF has invited a spokesperson to defend proposals for more government involvement in the health-care sector, and all LD5 state legislators have been invited to participate in this nonpartisan event.  We have also extended an invitation to Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick. We have made room in the schedule for more than an hour of Q&A from the public.

If you have not done so already, RSVP to tjenney@afphq.org, and let us know if you’re coming and how many friends you are planning to bring.  There is no charge for this event.

It is very important for Tea Partiers and other high country taxpayers to come to this event.  Much is at stake in the national health care policy battle, and in the budget battles down at the Arizona state Capitol.

For Liberty,

681 signatures collected in one day at a Phoenix tea party, over 750 delivered to Senator Jon Kyl's office today ,plus all the electronic petitions , emails, faxes and phone calls, all asking our Senator to cosponsor S604 and agree to an audit of the federal reserve.

Do you think he will listen to us now ? Why is he the last representative in Arizona to agree to an audit ?

We asked for an updated response from him, we will let you know if we get it.

Every year since 2002, Gilbert AZ has hosted a constitution fair as part of a week long celebration to mark constitution week.

Campaign for Liberty of Arizona was there hosting a booth in the town hall section of the fair.

We had plenty of pocket constitutions on hand plus information on the audit the fed efforts and brochures to invite new members to our family. We were also visited by one of the roaming "founding fathers"

We got to meet new members of Campaign for Liberty for the first time who stopped by the booth to help or to say hello and also people who Said they voted for Ron Paul but didn't know anything about campaign for Liberty...Well they do now !

That was enough reason for me to realise that we have to keep doing these community events , besides, it's FUN !

Attached below is a letter from Senator Kyl to a constituent here in Arizona who supports the HR1207/S604 Federal Reserve Transparancy Act.

So far all of Arizona's Congressmen and women, both Republican and Democrat have signed on as co-sponsors of HR1207.  Senator McCain, as I understand it is supporting S604.  Jon Kyl remains the only holdout.

As you can see on the Arizona C4L state page, we will be gathering petitions asking Senator Kyl to support S604.  I hope that Senator Kyl, after having supported amnesty in the last several years and after having voted for the "Assault Weapons" Ban back in the 90s, will make a decision this time that supports the interests of American citizens rather than special or corporate interests and will support transparency of the Federal Reserve system, which has contributed to the economic situation that we are all in now.

Please support Campaign for Liberty's Federal Researve Transparancy "Action Month", August 15-Sept 15.

A private foreign company scheduales the courts dockets. DPS is assaigned to monitor this Austrailian company but has no idea of what is going on.  3600 photo radar tickets schedualed for 8:30 am in one courtroom. Almost 3500 people ignored the notice of violation.

phew,

Well we are all finally back from the c4l conference in Las Vegas and it was a great weekend Cool

Friday we checked out the liberty fest conference that was being held in Bally's casino at the same time and browsed the displays and merchant booths. The first booth that you see when you enter the vendors area was a beautiful display by the campaign for liberty. So we stopped by and to say hello and show them our own hand made sign.

Then we found the c4l conference area and set up a table for Arizona c4l.Here we featured the photo radar ballot initiative that we are helping with and prop 13 which is a property tax measure. Also on our table was a collection of hand made signs that we had used early on in Ron Paul's presidential campaign. We drew quite a crowd and then others started adding things to our table until it was quite packed and colorful

Joan Lewis our Navajo county coordinator even found herself being interviewed on film (which we will post when that video becomes available

Now on to the main event.Friday night the main conference room was opened up and was packed with c4l members and liberty fest members.Mark Skousen (liberty fest producer) started the proceedings followed by a speech from Tom Woods (author of the book meltdown)        I must say that Tom was a great speaker.Funny, informative and i shall be buying his book now. Then the highlight of course was seeing Ron Paul back on stage as he was joined on stage initially by his wife Carol ,              who introduced Ron as the love of her life.

Hopefully video's will soon be available for those of you who were unable to make the trip so you can hear his speech for yourself.

Saturday and Sunday were the c4l conference classes where we covered a variety of topics that in essence were designed to get us prepared, trained and ready for when the next Ron Paul type candidate  runs for office and needs our help.I believe these classes will also be available for review on line once they have been edited etc so i won't go into the details here.I met a lot of new faces from Arizona who are with the c4l and all were keen to get rolling and start doing events,so to those of you i say....watch this space and check the calendars on your district pages.

Of course it wasn't all about classes and conferences ( it was Vegas Wink) We found ourselves meeting up with Adam Kokesh ( who is running for congress in Santa Fe New Mexico and is a great guy !and bumping into peter Schiff ,who we have all seen on the news recently telling us what's really going on in our economic world

To wrap up i just wanted to remind everyone that Arizona will be holding a convention end of September (dates not concrete yet) where we will be organising ourselves after becoming incorporated .We will be the first state for c4l to do this. Please keep checking the state pages and keep in touch with your regional coordinator for details.

The dangerous HB2252 (International Transportation and Port Infrastructure) seems to have sneaked by us in committees while the Budget was being battled. It is now down to the wire for Third Reading (the final vote in the Az. House) tomorrow.

This bill helps create a way for a North American Union-styled Canamex Corridor through America, with an ultra-deep water port near Guaymas and "port" and warehouse facilities at the Az. border to bring in slave-labor and subsidized goods from all over the world for all America.

If you would like to voice your opposition to this bill, please visit http://www.azleg.gov/alisStaticPages/HowToContactMember.asp to find your Arizona state legislators' contact information.

Below are some talking points by Bryan Turner:

1. The bill would has been amended to sound more innocuous, but actually gives the Department of Transportation and the State more power to integrate the governments of Arizona and Mexico through the Arizona/Mexico commission, empowering this commission with more authority and ability to accomplish merger.

2. It gives the Arizona international development authority the ability to enter what is basically treaty with other nations, with an emphasis on Mexico in the legislation

3. Creates a new bureaucracy with the directive to create new "tolls, fees, rents and other charges imposed by the authority". "Other charges" gives this unelected body not only the specified powers but unlimited ability to raise taxes in whatever form they want.

4. The bill authorizes the port authority to create new public debt through bonds

5. And finally, the whole idea of an Arizona port authority is part of the integration of the nations through a state by state initiative as described by Robert Pastor at a North American Governance meeting at ASU in Feb of 2007.

Saving Our Republic is the key mission of the Liberty Movement.  Electing Ron Paul as president would have been a huge victory towards once again having our Constitutional Republic.  Auditing the Fed and ultimately Ending the Fed would also be monumental victories.  The balance of power on Ending the Fed ultimately lies with Congress.  Therefore, a real tangible goal for the Liberty Movement must be to elect more  Ron Pauls to Congress.

Lets face it, most Congressmen are either millionaires or were once school board trustees. Unless the Liberty Movement can find millionaires who can self fund their campaigns for Congress, we must begin to find our local grassroots leaders.  The Liberty Movement needs to find its local grassroots leaders to get elected as your Congressmen, by starting today and getting elected our guys and gals on school boards and on party central committees.

If the Liberty Movement is serious about taking back the halls of Congress, than we must first begin to take back our local governance.  Start attending local meetings, school districts, water districts, town councils, political party meetings, etc... .  This is where politics start, in your backyard.

Find local issues that matter to your neighbors and community.  Be your community leader, by bringing issues that concern your neighbors to your local meetings.  As time goes by and you are a regular attendee, get a seat as a voting member and STAND UP for your people.  Bring back a true Republican form of government and be a public servant to your constituency.

The Liberty Movement must now take back local governance if we are to Save Our Republic!

After Ron Pauls defeat in the primary last February, I started to regularly attend my local school board meetings.  Just a few months ago, I took my oath (the real oath as prescribed in the California Constitution) of office as a trustee in that school district.  Below is an a letter I sent out to the school district where I am a Trustee.  Please take a look.

From The Desk of Gravenstein Union School Board Trustee Matt Heath

Dear Gravenstein Friends and Neighbors,

As one of five Trustees on the Gravenstein Union School Board, I'm very interested in your thoughts about how I can best fulfill my role as your public servant and representative. And of course, part of that role is to periodically let you know my thoughts - so you will have the opportunity to let me know whether you agree or disagree.

I welcome your calls, e-mails, or personal discussions. I'd like to personally meet you, and everyone in the district. One good way to discuss our school district issues is to meet with you and your neighbors and friends in small local groups - maybe in your own living room..? If you'd like to help put together a "meet and greet" informal gathering, please let me know when and where, and I'll be there!

I've already talked with many of you who are very concerned with our current economic problems and the apparent lack of consideration by previous school boards and administrators - especially the way District funds were spent on 4 separate parcel tax elections.

As a parent, a homeowner, and as your new representative on the board, I carefully looked over the budget prior to the last special parcel tax election. To my surprise, I learned that the school district had nearly $1 million in surplus. Roughly $250,000 is in an "economic uncertainty account" and the rest was unallocated toward any projects - a positive balance at the bottom of the ledger.

That concerned me.  So after studying the district budget, and finding the near $1 million surplus, and talking with many of my constituents, I made the decision to organize opposition to the parcel tax, and schedule a precinct walk on a sunny Saturday morning last March. During the walk, we received very encouraging words from many district residents. The most educational surprise of that day, though, was that we saw many vacant homes, which underscored the economic concerns of our neighbors. Homes for sale and vacant homes meant tax relief was much needed.

Existing Board members didn't like my opposition to their parcel tax proposal, but enough of you agreed with me, and we defeated it. That led to the majority of the Board voting to censure me.

No matter. As your Trustee on the Gravenstein Union School Board, I will continue to make it my #1 priority to represent you and your concerns, while I do my very best to help Gravenstein School offer the best possible education for all our kids. It is my job, and my great honor to serve to you, and with your help, I will continue to do so for many years.

I hope you will take me up on my offer to meet you and your neighbors. I look forward to having a cup of coffee with you.

Thank you for your support! Please feel free to contact me at any time.

In Liberty,

Matt Heath

Well it was a short notice action plan, but seven of us managed to meet and hand deliver a decent stack of petitions to representatives john shadegg and jeff flake today. Our rep's are all in washington at the moment but their office staff were accomodating and assured us they would be notified about the petitions.

I encourage all to continue to inform friends, families and co-workers about HR1207 and feel free to try and collect more petitions( i think we may need to do this again soon) also remember that we can email or call our rep's too.

Thank you to everyone who participated, called, emailed, collected and visited.

This coming Tuesday, April 28th, C4L will be holding its second official Mass Action Day by doing a "National Petition Push" in support of HR 1207!

Cosponsors are pouring onto the bill faster than the Library of Congress' site can keep up (We're up to 92 now, but the listing won't show until early next week.), and, with Jesse's visits to over 50 Capitol Hill offices this week garnering very positive results, now is the perfect time to make our voices heard!

Our VA national office is flooded with over 40,000 of your petitions, and next week we're taking them where they belong - to congressional offices all over the Hill.

Members of C4L's national staff will be joined by volunteers from all over the DC area to deliver these petitions.  If you're in the DC area and are interested in joining us on Tuesday, contact Allison Gibbs for more information.

But why hog all the fun??  We're asking Campaign for Liberty members all across America to join our Petition Push and drop your gathered petitions off at your representative's district offices this Tuesday.

Our state coordinators are busy planning for this Action Day, so be sure to contact your state coor. and let them know you plan to participate.  Keep an eye on our Recent Member Posts section today, as many of them have already blogged about their plans for Tuesday.

Also, you can take advantage of this weekend to gather even more signatures.  We've prepared a new streamlined petition to help you introduce the Audit idea to those who are unfamiliar with the Fed or the other issues involved.

Curious to see if your rep has cosponsored yet?  Click here to find out, and be sure to send along an email either urging them to cosponsor if they haven't or thanking them for their stand if they have.  This is a great way to get involved with Tuesday's "Push" even if you can't make it to their offices.

And don't worry about having to scramble before Tuesday to participate - we'll be doing more of these in the coming months.  Many of you have already gathered lots of petitions, so now is a good time to take them to the offices.

For state coordinator contact info and representative's district office addresses, visit your state page.

Make plans now to participate on Tuesday, even if you only have time to drop off a petition or two on your way to or from work.  And be sure to take lots of pictures and videos of your participation!  Let's make our voices heard and continue this great momentum we've built.  Like Jesse wrote yesterday, we can win.  More than just a philosophical exercise, this is a battle we can take all the way to the House floor... and beyond.

Update: Thanks to Steven Vincent for the link to End the Fed's "Melt the Switchboard" Event in support of HR 1207 scheduled for Monday!  Call on Monday, show up on Tuesday!

Randy Pullen was just re-elected as party chairman for the Arizona  republican party after defeating opponent Lisa James by a vote of 521-474.

This was my first attendance to the AZ state republican party elections, and i was there in my role as an elected state committeeman. What made this event a little more exciting is the fact that i wasn't the only Ron Paul supporter there, in fact by some accounts we carried almost 10% of the vote, and guess what ? We decided prior to the election that we would support Randy Pullen...

This is exactly what Ron Paul has been trying to convey to us, that change starts from the bottom up.We become active,we start paying attention,we get involved,we become precinct committeeman and we start effecting change. In this case we decided not to change our chairman. He stood by us and attended a Ron Paul rally that was held in Phoenix and extended a welcome to all who attended to  join the Republican party and to become involved, for that we decided to stand by him and ensure his re-election.

I hope this story inspires you all  to either stay involved or to do more ! We really can make a difference one precinct, one district or even one state party election at a time.

Now that the party convention cycles are over, it's time to get down to business.

What is the business we are getting down to?  Re-lighting the fire of 1776 and retaking this nation door by door, block by block, precinct by precinct.

No top-down heirarchical organization is needed to get this job done.  The people who know your neighboorhood, your neighbors better than anyone is you!  If you don't know them, here's your chance.

If you have not already joined the Campaign for Liberty as a Precinct Leader, please do so today.  The Precinct Leader program will provide you with tools and training to use as you meet your neighbors, identify those who believe consistently with us, and bring them over to our side.

Winning a nation will not happen on our keyboards, or in newspapers or on TV.  We have close to 80 years of socialist indoctrination to overcome.  That will be done by human to human interaction.  A handshake.  A civil discussion.  Building personal relationships based on trust.  It will not occur overnight.  Some people will need to hear your message two, three or four times.

But step one is to join the precinct leader program.  Then identify all other Ron Paul supporters and get them to join.

Please join today.  http://www.campaignforliberty.com

May the Spirit of '76 burn brightly.  Light the fire!
